I am fine with STNICCC demos as benchmarks. It's interesting to compare.
As for the speed true, older hardware are not as slow as most people think, an ARM Cortex at 133mhz can do things pretty fast if programmed well. When the presentation ran so fast that you could see tearing every few lines, that reminded me when I tested my DOS STNICCC (not released yet as a demo, but someone else did anyway) on a Pentium 3, the 320x200 did like over 1000 fps, and teared the same, it was fun to watch, then I tried some high resolutions.
