The motion is very smooth in these movetable effects even if the resolution is coarse. Almost like there is some sub-texel stuff going on. Anyway looks great and the music is also cool. Reminds me of popcorn?

Impressive and very good-looking with a perfectly fitting tune. I really wonder how the 8x2 pixels are made. I don't think there is enough CPU time to update the attribute RAM, so maybe it's kind of like FLI on C64 using switching a base/bank ... hmmmm...

In my code there is just enough CPU to copy 32 attributes from a buffer to the attribute memory and swap between the main screen and the shadow screen.
This is the how the code looks. It is duplicated 56 times (with the correct values for src and dest). The pentagon version has two add hl, hl-instructions at the end to make the code run in 448 cycles.

The 2D textures are 16x16 but upscaled to 32x32 for smoother movements.

Sorry I did not comment earlier. This is what a modern oldschool demo looks like. I am not saying intro, because this 4K does not feel constrained at all. The quality of every effect is just as good as an effect in a full-sized demo (in fact, they are better than most). Good to see the good old chunky with some new colour mixtures, but most of all, good to see the music with a sort of uneven tempo, kinda starting and stopping, and the demo responding appropriately, every time.
Inspiring stuff. The colours looked great using the composite video output on my setup.
It's amazing that some of the best speccy demos are 4k's.
