errr, this musicdisk monopolizes my system and eats all my cpu. To the point where the mouse pointer gets 4-5 samples a _second_ and moves jerkily!

I mean, I know a P4/2400 Northwood with PC133 SDRAM (i845) sucks ass, but I would expect a little slack... After all I expected to listen to the zik while working (thanx for the minimize button!) but it's very hard this way...

Nice to see it's so small in size, the music seems quite nice (although not spectacular).

i was a bit disappointed with the tunes at first, but they're getting better and better as it plays - perhaps just my taste + the first few tunes don't get on well :)

I quite like the interface, kind of old school c64 style game loading pic look to it. Looking forwards to the next one :)

gargaj: I didn't mean any disrespect towards your production in my comment. I mearly pointed out this peculiarity so that you can fix it if you wish, or at least try to avoid it in your next productions.

Here is a run-down of my system:
Pentium 4 2400 (Northwood, 512kb cache)
256Mb PC133 SDRAM
ASUS P4B i845 (SDRAM, sucks I know) chipset
Nvidia TNT2 Ultra 32Mb AGP 2X
Avance AC97 (on board) sound chipset
Windows 2000 Workstation SP4 + all recent fixes
Nvidia 52.16 drivers, DirectX9

This system runs fast as long as you don't flood it's cache. After that, it has to fetch stuff from PC133 SDRAM and it's time to make some coffee. I didn't buy the friggin rig, it's just what I have at the office. Surprisingly, though, I am able to run lots of demos at respectable framerates, even if it only has a TNT2. That includes Project Genesis, Candytron (not all parts), FR's musicdisk etc. But this musicdisk choking all the system is totally weird, and that's why I am posting it here, in case you want to help other poor P4 owners. That's all.

sorry if i sounded rude, i didn't intend to.
all i wanted to designate is that the problem is kinda beyond me, there is nearly nothing happening in the mainloop, there are Sleep()-s to provide some CPU-time to other stuff... i can't really imagine what's the problem.

a possible source for the problem tho is the frequent updates on the window's DC's (for the scrollies, for the VU, etc.), which is done by the GDI and i have no control over that. (i'm not sure what technique does Brüllwürfel use) Do you have problems with other skinned musicdisks?

gargaj: this , this and this have no problems at all. They run at full speed and use very little cpu. Of course you can argue that they don't scroll stuff in the screen with GDI, but those were the most close matches I could think of.

anyway, concerning this msxdisk, it's has a few nice tracks, decent graphics, but in general it's just average... still cannot beat the two rebels releases imho. keep up the good work tho.
