OH----------->MY----------->GOSH !!

Just as good as "a deepness in the sky" by mfx.

Its atmospheric. and its a great scene. But more needs to happen.

Refreshing ... nice music and lovely atmosphere ...

slow and simple maybe, but sweet

Great effect for a demo introduction, but where is the rest? =8-)
It just deserves a rulez for the marvellous atmosphere created.

Flatshading + the already overused fake-glow filter (aka render to smaller texture and blend it over). Really nothing exciting about this one.
added on the 2003-11-09 15:35:23 by tomaes tomaes
i liked the whole object creation.
but the two last minutes failed.

nothing comparable to the first byzantine.

still a very pleasant view..

I don't think I watched it as it should. Nothing like in the screenshot above. Probably just the fake glow texture, no defined objects whatsoever.

Not my cup of tea

uargh. the music is nice, but the butt-ugly blur (just using automatic mipmap generation and upsampling is NOT a good way to do a filter!) and artifacts/shadows everywhere at the edges of the screen totally ruined the visual experience for me.
added on the 2003-11-09 17:45:26 by ryg ryg
ryg: shut up coder =)
anyway... the whole demo is basically put together with some chewing gum and glue. (the executable was compiled well over a year ago, the glow effect was done with a script system and the coder has no interest whatsoever with making demos with it, especially if they're like this) also "small" artifacts shouldn't affect how good or bad a demo is. though if you forget those the demo still sucks.

Yeah, more needs to happen, but it's still creepy cool.

great music sync

kind of very massive. somehow loses the serious feeling somewhere during the time. you should believe more in what you do.

I'll join raimo on this one.

quite boring
sucks added on the 2003-11-09 20:31:59 by hhhhhhh hhhhhhh
The atmosphere set by the music saves me from thumbing this down. If this was shorted to about 30 seconds, it would be a great intro for a demo.. but it gets too boring just watching the same thing go on and on. Might hold some extra interest if your under the influence.

when did additive blending go out of style? :)
sucks added on the 2003-11-09 22:53:56 by gloom gloom
i'm not thumbing this down cos i <3 jobe!
Reminds me of Kosmoplovci, but Kosmoplovci is usually good. The music is quite good, but still...

really really good! looks like chimera by halcyon has a more nervous little brother!
rulez added on the 2003-11-09 23:43:37 by karnof karnof
it completely fails to achieve it's goal :)

pretty cool at times, but "more needs to happen" as others have said

Booooriing.. didn't really get the point of random plotted boxes.
sucks added on the 2003-11-10 15:01:06 by Random- Random-
A word from the musician: the camera could use some valium. Kinda hurts the spacious atmosphere when you're flying around at that pace :)
added on the 2003-11-10 17:07:34 by jobe jobe
boxes... revolutionary
sucks added on the 2003-11-11 09:28:20 by JDruid JDruid
Agreed with jobe that camera movements are too fast, but still I like the atmosphere and the music.
rulez added on the 2003-11-11 11:38:20 by teel teel
agreed with plek but the great soundtrack and somewhat chimeraish visuals make this a piggie.

Nice atmosphere, but very boring after the first minute... As many said, where's the rest of the demo?
added on the 2003-11-12 15:25:22 by teknik teknik
:( =
glitches/artifacts
no evolution in the visuals thru the demo

\:D/ =
nice music
nice atmosphere

overall, THIS is how chimera should be done.

ok, how many cubes are there ? (that's the only thing that can interest me here)

I don't usually like simplistic demos, but this one was nice.
added on the 2003-11-13 14:35:10 by dEpressio dEpressio
A great atmosphere, thanks to the powerful audio and the first minute. After that it gradually becomes disturbing. It is boring at the end whereas chimera by halcyon is boring in the beginning.
My thumb would go straight up if it had something imaginative as a climax.
added on the 2003-11-13 18:22:29 by cj7 cj7
barely gets a piggy because the music is quite good...
but what about that random boxes thingy. i was always waiting for some "breakthru" to appear, but nothing happened. just more boxes. how boring
i just realised it lacked something in the end, a surprising conclusion that could makes all sense to the rest. how about something like the very last part of kkowboy by purple, all the polys sliding horizontally and vertically to make a word?
added on the 2003-11-14 21:27:17 by karnof karnof
I'm not sure what kind of delicious, mind-altering drugs you're on, but the last time I checked, 'k' isn't a word. ;)

ugly colours I see and utter boredom potential, way to go

Bored me to death, but imo doesn't deserve a thumb down

thumbs for the soundtrack and for the way the 3d is done :)

Beautiful. Extreame mzx. Got me thinking what the visual represented... the creatiion of a mind? The fabric of the universe (building blocks)?

Simple, and boring some would say... But it has an atmosphere

I think this is one of the best unique prod.

Beautiful music, but the visuals are too dim and boring.
added on the 2004-10-19 23:03:18 by Preacher Preacher
Hohum, where's the rest?

Honestly, one semi-interesting effect plastered on for 5 minutes straight with an ambient tune doesn't really cut it for me.

It would be pretty great if more actually *happened* =)

cool scene.
cool music.
however, too long...
