Sorry for the long wait. I had some time today so I cleaned up my sources and made a downloadable release. If you feel like taking a look through the source code, that's also possible: https://github.com/peterekepeter/vulkan/tree/60ec18de70fe3f6fa16681bb833bd20e31dd5b56 this links you to commit where I considered this demo to be finished. Since then I've renamed some files since then because the project also contains the sources to my previous demo https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=78101

You're so good when playing with particles! What a lovely and colorful experience.

One trick pony.
But you once again showed off what you are able to do.
Especially the transitions make this a splendid demo.
Should have won! ;)

One of the best pure particle demos! Really smooth, good emitters and transitions. Not happy with the music really but it's also cool you made everything yourself =)

I like the individual scenes/effects, but the direction doesn't quite manage to make the demo flow like a continuous piece.
Music is nice, I like a lot of the ideas and themes. The beats felt unnecessary to me and could have been dropped.

Wowwwww Musk

Yo, YouTube compressed the crap out of these particles. Tried the executable, but I got something like this "Could not find procedure start address in setprocessdpiawarnesscontext in user32.dll". How to resolve? Windows 7 64 dx11.

It's pretty, but doesn't really connect for me. A bit more of mfx wouldn't hurt.

Song, particles rotating. Pleasant stuff, but not super fresh or interesting. Not sure if I listened to the same soundtrack as others commenting, as this one seemed just fine.

Right, that function is unfortunately only compatible with Windows 10, version 1703. I'm planning to fix this issue. @d-swi (and anybody else who has the same issue) if you send me an email to muuuusk (at) gmail.com I can send you new versions to test.

I've managed to fix up a theoretically win7 compatible release but I don't have a win7 machine lying around to test.

And thank you all! It was a really nice experience to make this, I dedicated a weekend and a day to making it. I've even ended cutting out content that did not fit. In contrast the usual demo-making experience is to work on last minute hacks and party-coding to finish something that's presentable.

But this time I uploaded the release on Friday and then enjoyed all the things Demobit had to offer. The last time when I did this was with my first release.

I've gotten so many congratulations that I fear I have raised the bar by which my next prod will be judged.

About the music, well this time I wrote it especially for the visuals. Usually it's the other way around. I managed to make it sound the way I wanted at the party place, but it might sound differenly based on type of speakers you have, I think this can be a valid explanation of why it seems that people are talking about different versions of the soundtrack.

What a GREAT particle adventure.
rulez added on the 2019-02-12 13:25:33 by 100bit 100bit
I can see why it got 2nd place = lack of appeal to general public, but from technical point of view this one is more interesting than the 1st place.

Lots of cool transition effects with particles - I can imagine the hard-work that went into tuning and polishing those.
And the result is interesting and fun to watch!

Music was ok. A little too generic for my taste. Nevertheless, not bad for one man production.

The problem solved itself by updating the graphics driver.

Very enjoyable experience, and what fizzer said. Can we have a VR version of it? :)
rulez added on the 2019-02-17 10:04:23 by Zavie Zavie
VR would kill this! ;)
Demos should not and can not be watched from different angles to be what they are! ;) (except they are made for this experience explicitly...but this is a tunnel-demo, so Z++, no rotation on X/Y!)

--> here´s how you could make even more out of this concept: rotate Z...variating on Z-depth of course! ;) (cant await not seeing you doing this at all! ;) )
Holy moly! This is the best demo I've seen for years! It's stunning, beautiful, hypnotizing and simply just freakin' awesome! Extremely well executed with lots of attention to details! I LOVE IT!

looks pretty - but tried the windows 7 version and get the following error:

Fail: Required extension vk_ext_)debug_utils not found

win7 / geforce gtx960

Out of date gfx card?
rulez added on the 2019-03-10 15:43:54 by caffeine_demon caffeine_demon
@T$ SetProcessDpiAwarenessContext issues should be fixed with v1.1

@caffeine_demon your GPU is good enough, min requirements are win 7 and nvidia 600 series for vulkan, it looks like I left some debug layers in the win7 build, see if this one v1.2 works any better.

Solid graphics which was enjoyable throughout the demo. Really nice to see that you committed to the style. Loved the intro folding the universe out of a spiraling line, mind blown.
