Nice to see you back..
With your first demo :D
Love the physics!

nice idea and physics!
Hehe, I really enjoyed that!
How was it done? The reptile especially seems to remind me of your older intros with genetic algorithm experiments. Did you had many runs till you get a succesfull one (and I guess not for the whole trip, it could take ages, but several runs on smaller parts and then connected together), and then saved the best fit and replayed, or is it purely scripted animation?
It was very entertaining to watch anyway.

Or I guess it's just an elastic silly reptile and the physics engine, no genetic algorithm runs beforehand, I thought too much of it? :)
...sooooo fun to watch with great twists on the way...
I rarely comment, but this is a breakthrough on so many levels.
hahahaha!
very fitting soundtrack! :D
very fitting soundtrack! :D
WOW! *plenty of 909-claps*
Great physics. If you haven't animated the whole thing beforehand, how do you ensure that everything in this rube goldberg device stays in sync?
I also wish there would have been more blood. :-D

This is brilliant. I laughed out loud watching it at home. :D
Doesn't run for me. assert.dat says:
Code:
Great crash! : line 0: signal = 11,0
That's what i call DEMO!
1. Decent file size (16 Mb)
2. Minimum prerecorded motion (only cars and camera)
3. Physics
4. Scenario
5. Fun
6. interactive bonus: free camera
The only thing I missed is a screen resolution selector.
Also, such textures can be rendered by texture generator, or packed into a single file at least.

That poor little lizard. But the physics engine is awesome.
Ah, adjusting the desktop resolution to something less weird fixed the crash for me. Pure awesome!
Lot of fun, worthy winner of the compo. :)
Ohh I just love the physics..
I love it! So damn fun. Better watch this realtime to see all the detail. And the music was a great fit.
Nqgyon jo !
Poor lizard... Neat prod, i dont like the untzing in the tune though.
Enjoy!! :)) simply awesome demo <3
Brilliant demo! The most entertaining demo I've seen so far this year.
Really enjoyed this, it is even interestingly thrilling and the physics and idea are super nice!
This was awesome! I was smiling the whole time while watching <3
This is basically a summary of my Monday mornings.
new level
This is completely beyond expectations! Even that it is usual Archee code he was researching/developing/improving over years, this is still completely fresh as a demo concept! It also shows a different face of a demoscene. Plus, it's fun to watch.
PS I wonder how many tries it took to make all the physics goes this way ;)

Cute!
That poor drunken lizard! Don't be so cruel, please!
ultra fun to watch, the physics rocks, the whole demo rulez :D

This. Exactly this. :)
archee, master of drunk physics
the king of lizard ;-)
Ugly as sin, but that's of course not the point, so thumbs up for the engine and the mad fun factor. :)
Let's say it wasn't the most beautiful and most demoish prod I've ever seen, yet, I was laughing all the time. I'm so happy the little dude wasn't smashed by that ball! (SPOILER ALERT!)
Also, it's funny that this comment:
comes from someone who blew people's minds earlier on in a 256B compo :-)

Love it!
Cool! ;)
Very enjoyable.
Cool and funny stuff and nice music.
It's rare that a demo brings you this much joy. I was smiling the entire way through, because of the whimsy and because of how coder design can sometimes be the point. Lovely physics, absolutely lovely concept, lovely execution and lovely music.
Coder design done right, like others smiled all the time :)
Funny physics with matching music is always a good idea! :)
I wish i could give you two thumbs up for the "edit bus ticket price" bit :D
drunk physics ftw :D for stuff like this, realtime sfx could give an extra layer of awesomeness
Hilarious!
nice idea!
Excellent!
Hilarious :)
Am I the only one to find this super boring ?
... not super boring, but also not super awesome
Great spirit enjoying full life of cubes and balls ! I've never tried to do something like that with my physic engine, since 2002, but it gives hunger like those kind of videos with precalculated millions of particles and shitty bananas...
very enjoyable and the music matches with the playfulness :)
It's a neat show and works well as a concept, but I feel that compared to what's generally possible it's also rather crude and limited in many ways; the main creatures movement doesn't have to be _that_ awkward and unrefined, and the presentation with its low-res everything looks more like something from '07 rather than '17.
Still a likeable effort and more interesting than 90% of what's being released as demos today.

boring, ugly and pointless.
Lovely music!
COOL 3D WORLD!
Archee strikes again! :)
I like it. This is a demo.
Physics is fascinating.
Obtuse and tasteless beyond comprehension, as if this was intentionally made to look as unappealing as possible (that text???). The rube goldberg aspect would've been much more interesting and engaging if there actually was any presentation. Instead this opted for the most confusing audiovisual combination in the compo, though then again the humdrum nature of the music feels surprisingly apt (sorry nagz, not one of your best :)). The arrival of the bus was the only part that for a fleeting moment felt like it had any rhythm to it. Also in general what tomaes and kimi said. No thumbs down though because I smiled at okkie's comment.
this is wonderful, very fresh and appealing! i wish there were more demos like that.
Best physics and best slapstick demo ever made. Absolutely horrible, but I just can't stop watching this... on repeat.
Like
Sumotori Dreams was fresh back then, but this quickly turns into a PITA to watch. Music is nice, would have deserved better visuals than a plain ugly mindcraft lookalike.
Nice fun psychics demo saw this for the first time at Demoscensklubben September in Stockholm and we laughed a bunch
Hahaha! Outstanding stuff!
ridiculous and incredible. every moment i expected it to end but it kept topping itself! great work
great engine!
lmao @ presentation details
music was a bit meh

That's exactly the case when quality of gfx doesn't matter! Very good in both idea and music. To people who find it "boring" - I suppose it is the only demo you have seen so far :)
Physics FTW - delightful :)
The legs of the frog turn into cubes!
Pretty torn by this one. I really love the idea and its really fun to watch, but it does look pretty bad. Music is good and well produced but there's some chords it hits which just don't work for me, that's personal taste. Based on the visuals on youtube, I actually ran this on my Studio rig rather than my gaming rig which was OK at 720p, but the timing must be waiting for each frame to draw or something because the music ended nearly a minute before the demo did.
I think it would have been better with fx sounds and no music instead of music and no fx.
Seriously, lately Ive realized that most of the recent demoscene releases lacked the "something" new and original. And you hit me with this! Please do some more :)
Kudos for functional physics engine, but to me it seems like a quickly hacked kindergarden level of fun nonsense featuring basic rendering ala Roblox with far worse than optimal performance on less powerfull PCs. Motivational thumb down just in case it would help you to think out of your "box" and innovate your demos with more than just math and some retarted "story". If you have no interest in visual effects, aesthetics or at least a story with some moral value - keep it on, but it´s simply neither memorable nor interesting to someone looking for digital art in demos (read fusion of tech&art).
So so. Poor gator! Is this in Florida, USA? :P
Well that's some damn stable physics, I assume you're throwing quite a lot of your framebudget on it? Be prepared to be interrogated by me about every little detail the next time we meet :)
hilarious crazy world :)
i'm somehow torn by this, and I usually like archees demos.
As always Archee makes me both amused and amazed 8))
That was unexpected and compelling
I like the aesthetic, it feels like a game. Although, it felt quite bland. Good work, though!
funny
For the laughs and Rob's comment. Okish codertextures.
yeah.. thumbs up.. for the laughs =)
I don't know, left me rather cold despite the technical achievement
Awesome! Very entertaining.
that lizard
it's enjoyable because of its Benny Hill factor, but yeah, looks pretty bad :)
Good fun, my favorite part is where you zoom out so one can extrapolate that the physics between dominos/sphere/board and the lizard's movement direction will send it flying to that other island :D
Enjoyed it
I think this would have worked better with a more story-like approach, now it just feels like a half-baked test of an idea. The textures especially are rather offputting and ugly while the neat physics don't save the whole from feeling a mediocre rehash of your previous physics-based ideas, which at least had the comedy aspect down.
This is not becoming any better upon reflection.
this is amusing, but perhaps more so as a physics sandbox than as a non-interactive demo
You should've named it "drunk island" :)
Nice physics. Unexpectedly entertaining (unexpected from the screenshot)

what rob said :D
Entertaining
learn to code proper demos and not such aweful piece of junk
awesome shaders
It's basically recycled, but on an enormous scale and I can't help but smile when watching it, so here goes your thumb...
That jump, I saw it coming and laughed so much! :-D
I was truly entertained by this one. I didn't mind the visuals cause I was absorbed by the action. But at the same time, it's also a pity to have such a great physics system and not use it to drive some pretty visuals with it. But there's also real life constrains and limitations I imagine. Anyways, it was lots of fun to watch, thanks!
rly liked it generally, i also enjoyed the graphics
Brilliant and hilarious!
