Use a PAL NES to run this, or select PAL emulation in your emulator. Works at least in Nestopia, Nintendulator and FCE Ultra.

Finns own the NES :) Great production, really exceeded all my expectations. The thing is, now I have to get around coding some new effects... Shiiiiiit.
rulez added on the 2007-08-04 14:41:18 by visy visy
Great prod. If I'm going to give some sort of critique: The part in the end where you see a reprise of the effects, you could use some variation, like doing the tunneled in the reverse direction, or letting the gears do alternate directions. (Back, forth, back forth)

Wow! The best NES demo I've ever seen!!!

Enjoyed it, although all those fake-twisters and rotators on 8-bit platforms are getting old quickly. Come up with some new tricks please. :)

Nice, but I think the Atari demo was better, and i suspect i might like the vic demo more too once i've seen a video of it ;-)

But still, thumb-up worthy!

allright, as nes demos go, i suppose. has that "summarize everything we already showed you" type of ending i dislike.

NSF here: http://www.students.tut.fi/~immonen6/high-hopes.nsf

Note that the speech sequences aren't there since I don't think there's any way to play raw samples from NSFs currently...

Really nice for beeing the first NES demo to ever make use of the MMC3. Ok - it doesn't really use the full potential of the chip - but it's nevertheless very nice. You might experience it as a bit chunky and rough while running it on the real thing, but it's really worth the trouble. This demo is an impressive venture into demomaking on a machine which so far have been limited to somewhat tacky 32 demos.
rulez added on the 2007-08-30 02:08:15 by Twoflower/3AD Twoflower/3AD
Twoflower: I don't know what you're refering to with "full potential". Only thing I can think of is the scanline counter which we didn't use because we wanted to be able to run all the effects also in a plain NROM configuration. There's not really much else to MMC3 than bankswitching, programmable mirroring and the scanline counter.

For 2 minutes I fixated my eyes on you, from your textured box, to your big pixel animations to your vocoder and finally your 64 particle body, I thought you came from a 320K Atari 800...

Were you guys actually the ghost coders for that Recca game?

Answering to xernobyl's question - there was a voice synth on NES before - Track & Field II.

I think this may have been the first demo I ever saw, so thanks for getting me hooked :)
Nice music and effects, especially the vectorballs.

Also, if your emulator doesn't have an option to change the emulation region, use a hex editor to change address 0x09 in the ROM header from 0 to 1. This will tell the emulator's region detection system that the ROM is PAL.
