Very cool! I wasn't sure from the screenshot and now think you can't capture any still image from this demo. It only works in motion, which is absolutely awesome :)

usually im a sucker for virgill tunes but this time it sounded a bit too "4kish" for my taste.
also there is some buildup in the track but somehow not so much in the visuals, its kinda boring scenewise...
having that said i dig the rendering style a lot and it was a worthy 1st place so kudos to all involved :)

It was hugely momentous for me to get the opportunity to work with Virgill, one of my legit scene heroes for over 20 years. But, all through production of this one I couldn't tell if visually it was compofiller or one of the best things we've done.
gaspode recognised of course our main inspiration, the painter Grant Haffner, and the linked image is indeed the specific one that gave birth to this prod. Haffner was mentioned in the nfo when it was in our standard template but the text unfortunately didn't make it into the final pretty nfo.
When the prod initially didn't run on the compo machine we discovered we'd somehow been using an ancient Crinkler all along! Switching to latest gave us a working prod, as well as 100 bytes suddenly free and a group-wide groan when we realised we didn't have time to spend them.
We hit something of a content ceiling during production; there were a few more geometric elements we wanted to add and now it seems there might be space for some of them. So, this may be the one prod we actually revisit for a final.

Style
Very nice job, loved the colors, feel like broken reality turned into something old school, and the tune couldn't fit better. Fresh stuff!

Hmm, did not like the truck ... it feels so unconnected colorwise. And it did not go anywhere storywise. But the style and the music is great of course.

The truck was a bit out of place as gaspode says, the buildings less so maybe, but it's a 4k, so their blockiness is something that might have to be accepted here. It's overall quite nice otherwise so no complaints.

technically impressive, the music is really good, but feels like someone puked crayons all over the bytes. i think a better choice of colors or some more limited palette would have sold it better, as well as some minimal texture on the 3d bodies.

The style reminds me of some impressionist artist but I can't make up my mind about whom. Anyway, loving the idea and execution!

Wonderfully calm and warm atmosphere. Amazing music that suits the overall feeling of this prod. The beginning of the music really reminded me of cdak by Quite (I think that's the one, I though of). Really cool choice of colors - bold indeed, but it actually works! I love it when someone releases new and alternative takes on the 4k genre, which is really hard to be inventive about these days. I believe this one actually brings something new to the category.

Love the Grant Haffner reference, but the music and truck/buildings kinda ruined it for me :( (Music is good, but doesn't work for me in this prod)
I like this 4k portion of surrealism. However, the flat poly objects shoulda been twisted and distorted with out-of-whack Cubist perspective rendering rather than being such simple strict geometrical shapes.

The inspiration is very obvious throughout the whole thing...but that is actually a very good thing...as you managed to transport all of Haffners work into the small space of 4K. :)

A couple of small flaws (truck/buildings, music not 100% fitting, a little abuse on transitions-to-black...) but that said:

Fantastic prod! I love how instead of pretending demoscene is separate from more traditional art forms, you just play on their interaction, like Still and others did before. Everyone else mentioned the wheel-less truck; so you know where to spend your 100 bytes :) However, even more appreciated would be to have more prods in this direction.

I wonder how it would have looked if the objects such as the stop, water tower and the truck wouldn't have been there at all, as they stand out from the style sorely where the power lines do not.

Damn - I really dig the soundtrack in this one, especially the chords in the beginning - proper sad, ambient stuff. I could have done without the (in my opinion, slightly too) distorted instrument that kicks in.
The intro is decent too - though those flatshaded objects (truck and buildings) ruins the magic imo.

nah i don't like this demo too glitchy sound, to much art and just too slow not my type of demo at all
Interesting artistic motif. Wish it came in higher than 720p though, needed FXAA to fix the distracting jaggies in the telephone poles. :)
