Thumbs up for Bomb the Bass :D - also the rotating mirrored screen and the 3d scanlines are always a pleasant sight

Yay, I got a greet :]
I like the music, and the textured rotozoomer. However it doesn't seem like it needs to be 32k, for the amount of content actually in there

Entertaining demo with fine effects and music. Congratulations to all 4 of you!

A bit rough around the edges with regards to flow and design, but as Den said, it's entertaining and has some nice-looking effects! I know how much work and nerve this must have cost, so congrats for making it in time for SillyVenture! :) (I'm really sad real life interfered with my plans to finish a demo as well...)

The mirrored rotozoomer seems to have a small bug, as some of the innermost bits seem to be shifted vertically up one row - a timing problem?

Oh, and I *really* like both tunes (the Megablast remix is so bold!), well done!

Bomb the bass track is dope! Running some kind of PWM-style replayer? How often do you update the TIA sound registers?
rulez added on the 2016-11-13 21:17:53 by Sdw Sdw
Some notes on the music seem to be out if tune, but that should be blamed on the soundchip I guess, other than that, it's cool and colorful, I like it a lot

Impressive rotor ! And Bomb the Bass as a madeleine of Proust :-)

A really nice prod, with a good music (for what you can get on the VCS). :)

Thanks !
@ Kylearan, oh yeah, even though I'm not sure what you mean by innermost bits, there are many bugs left in the demo ; ) That way we know we can improve for the next time !
And yeah @glafouk did am amazing job with the music !
@Sdw, @glafouk used @Kylearan's TIATracker to compose the music. It's updated 60 times per second (NTSC demo - somehow by mistake).
@KK Thanks, though when I look at some other VCS demos, I think we can improve a lot ; )

Yeah, I noticed that the code was included so I could see that it was just a "normal" once-per-frame track playing. Impressive! I thought that trying to recreate a song would end up with a lot more out-of-tune notes than that!

The funny thing is that TIATracker has a special feature called "pitch guide creator" which can give you a lot more in-tune notes than usual, if you know in advance which notes you need. A remix/cover version of an existing song would be the perfect use-case for this feature, but until now nobody has used it yet (I know Glafouk hasn't)... %-)

A bit rough, but some very nice music in there.

BTW: Check the scanline count, it is different between the scenarios. An odd scanline count will result PAL to loose all colors.

@JTZ, yes g012 noticed the scanlines count (after we released) .. Yet another bug ; )

Amazing, too bad i have the PAL version of the VCS.. Nice music too, I like the sound of the Xenon 2 tune, please a Zoolook remix. :)

Didn't get much out of this one. Well written music but sound-wise not too interesting (and I'm bothered by the dissonance here too). Keep at it though, good progress!

Thanks for all the feedbacks...

As mentioned @Kylearan, my use of his powerfull tool was really simple/basic/clumsy. No overlay drums, no picth guide created, and mostly used the instruments/drums given in the exemple file (with some modified).
It was a very first try, with a lot of new/unknown elements for me (VCS sound & limits, time limit to release, etc...). Let's hope that the next tunes will sound better with a proper learning of TIATracker...

About John Carpenter's/Bomb The Bass cover, I guess that beginner's luck had a great role in the story cause most of the notes came "easily/naturally" (with some out-of-tune a bit of course). That wasn't the same with other covers I've tried and wasn't able to make/finish cause of "missing notes".

Thanks a lot @Kylearan for your great tracker.
And many thanks too @Flewww, @p0ke & @g012 for your indulgence, your trust, and the really cool demo you've done...

It was great to see you and this release at the party. You're improving a lot and coder-to-musician ratio of 3:1 is a very good ratio for a VCS demo group. Typically is 1:0 :-) Really catchy tunes!
