this was nice.

Very random and incoherent. Some parts looked cool, some not so much, overall didn't work for me at all.
the big problem imho is that the character gfx are not selfmade. it was a blast seing those at the big screen but when the credits rolled ... too bad :\ on the other hand: the tune is fucking ossom. also it has some very nice scenes. overall a weak thumbs up because it was one of the more entertaining demos in the compo for me.
seconding break here.
quite a lot of scenes but, I was already lost at the city scene :) "wat"
Sidonia is anime which I like. Also fonts, nice title graphics scene!
(ouch the renderer highlights burn)

Liked that a lot on the bigscreen. Nice storytelling and sci-fi atmo in general. But when I looked at it at home again, I also noticed then "inconsistency" think that also other were taking about.
What sensenstahl and nodepond said. Nonetheless found it beautiful

Very nice! All fits very well, nice from you to put the storytelling with much content on here..
Textures start bugging out spectacularly around halfway (comparing to the Youtube render here); I'm guessing you have little to no concern about VRAM size.
I loved the direction better than the rest. You told a story, I liked that!
not quite happy about heavy usage of commercial graphics, but this demo is still amazing work by (almost) one guy!
I appreciate the effort but borrowing animation frames from Sidonia (which I also like) verbatim makes for a very incoherent style with the rest of the visuals. Additionally, being a bit too long, it's more of a piggy.
That said, a demo with Nihei-style cyberpunk nigthmare visuals (from Biomega and Blame) and self-made character animation could work very well.

This was cool and there was by far enough original content to deserve the thumbs up.
I don't want to nag, but as the others, I also would have preferred self-drawn frames. Even a bit lackluster ones would have been just fine.

What Fell concluded, but without thumb. I have seen too many of these shaders on shadertoy. Maybe that's why i'd also agree on "incoherence" here ...
Congrats for your demo, Unix ! It was really great to see/listen to it on the big screen. It has the merit to show something else than the electro-rave-fluid-dynamics cliché, so thanks for the story-boarding effort. Being present with you during the party I know you worked hard and mostly alone on it while being honest with the credits to the community and original authors of the graphics content. The most important thing is that you were happy doing it taking your mind off things ! I don't think that a lot of us can pretend to masterize both C++/GLSL/OpenGL coding and music/graphics arts disciplines, moreover when you have family, kids, full-time job and little spare time as most of us. So next time if talented artists on this board want to give you a hand to produce more original graphics content i'm pretty sure that you will be more than happy to receive some concrete help. So keep going. Regards.
Bit long, but I loved it all the way.
I likes this for sure. nice story.. music of some reason got stuck in my head.
So much content, somewhat nice direction and a kick ass tune, ruined by purposefully copyright infringement. Also that commodore scene ruined it a lot.
The first shot of the car scene is straight out of that Mercury 64k.
I was so hyped when I saw that artwork in a nice story, only to be saddened when I found out they were stolen. The artwork drives the story in this one. I appreciate the fact that you gave credit to the orignal author, but uuuh.. If we were all to use copyrighted works freely I could whip up a compo winning entry each and every party I visit.
I wish I could thumb this up because the effort clearly shows and it certainly isn't lacking in atmoshere. It's moving, touching and inspiring. It felt a bit like Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, which is a good thing. I would have given it maximum stars, without a second of doubt if you painted all that artwork yourself. The scene does have graphicians you know :)

Nice.
some ripped assets but everything was credited so it doesnt really annoy me that much, especially since unix did manage to make them work well together into a proper story demo.
Nice concept and story telling. Some great ideas and overall decent design. Perhaps a bit too long, at least for me the content just wan't interesting enough for the length.
It is realtime so it is a demo I guess but it feels more like a wild entry that someone made in after effects. Sorry if that sounds like a strange thing to say but it just didn't feel very demo-ish to me.
I did enjoy it overall so it's a thumb up from me but if it just had a bit more original assets and some more cool demo coding it would push it from good to great.

I quite enjoyed that, it's a mix of anime stuff (ripped?) and some cool scenes, great music, although I've seen something that looks like a shader I've seen before on shadertoy (the rain street cars scene). I'll keep the piggie till I know more.
i think this is a good example of how to properly credit "stolen" content.
of course 100% original is always better but the way this was put together is just too nice not to thumb it.

Nice!

They've taken my shader "reality warp" and I don't see any credit for that. In general, I'm not very pleased with "shadertoy compilation demos", a recent trend of lazy demomaking. And then, there's all the Sidonia stuff (yeah, I like the show too, but c'mon...). Overall way too many "taken" things and not enough ideas and creativity of their own, which is a bummer.
Very ambitious but feels too disjointed (which makes sense when you consider the difference sources!) and the editing/pacing feels quite jarring in places. Great music and I liked that you tried some foley work
I really want to thumb this up but I can't

What evilpaul said.
Nice one.
please be original. seriously
..........
On the one hand lots of content, an interesting design (I'm not sure ray marching is the best choice, but the mix of 3d scenes with manga plates works quite well in my opinion), and a good self contained story.
On the other hand, a lack of consistency and polishing, commercial material, and tomaes' comment.
Piggy.

had its moments.
but sidonia trailer on youtube is better.

nothing against interesting remixes, but... that was a bit too much for my taste
Very great music. Some very good scenes, and I liked the demo anyway, even if they took some graphics from Sidonia.
Replicating cost-effective anime style + cliche demo fx = just the right amount of cheesiness <3
Fresh and not ordinary work!
