It's even more interesting on real hardware, as the slipping vertical sync, sometimes causes intermittent tearing of the video signal. :)

Reminds me of the glitch effects I was playing with when doing our first 2600 demo, loved to see the TV display jump and tear like crazy (which was the exact point in time I learned to love non-reproducible / hw specific effects for their ephemeral quality)
