tiny intro scene needs more high resolution approaches =) it's a pity that using the multiboot lifts this outta comparable DOS competition ("wild") but fourty and some bytes is just so much better than the ~100 bytes i came up with in autumagic to set up the protected mode and 1024x768 (not really finished or optimized). Plus, nobody seems to really care about resolution, high color and performance ... until now ;) . I highly encourage you to take further steps into this direction. Performance may be a problem but there is SHITLOADS of memory to use, to generate FPU lookups or even whole prerendered frames ;) Hook me up if you're interested in "painfully setting up protected mode" ;)

Thanks for the comments! I'll be digging through the source of autumagic to see the pmode setup. ~100 bytes sounds pretty good. The only problem with the multiboot approach is that it can be a little tricky to run if you're not too familiar with GRUB/Linux. I had to give the compo organizers a hand it setting it up (thanks Luis).

In other news, there is also a journal that I kept while I was developing it in the zip called "log.txt". Read it for more details on my thoughts during the dev process.
