It works on my Windows 7 box, but you need to set the compatibility settings to either NT4 or Win95/98. The fullscreen option will give you nothing but pitch bugs, but at least it works in windowed mode.
As for the demo. I quite like it. Nothing earth-shattering and no consistency between the parts, but sympathetic and well... 'nice'. :)

Ahh.. the first time you see your production on the big screen. The feeling of it all. The demo is rather crappy though but it didn't matter :)
