nice!
first of all there's hardly interesting content in this issue! no one needs a tutorial on robust javascripting or whatever, just to point one out :)
the gfx are crappy yet the music was fine.
the gfx are crappy yet the music was fine.
Very ugly graphics, quite nice musics, lots of articles released before...
I like the content (though I can't really comment on the coding articles) and the music is quite nice diskmag pop, but I have to agrwee wit dairy and maali, the graphics don't please my eyes at all and the yellow texts seem too bright. I just wish there were articles about music and gfx, you people should write them. Having a comic is an interesting idea, as most ordinary magazines have them.
Pros:
-sound
Cons:
-nothing really new or interesting
-don't like gfx
Big Con:
The fucking blah in the editorial about the war on iraq and it's impacts and whatever. I really think it sux to abuse a scene related discmag as your personal forum to propagate your political opinion amongst others. In fact, it annoyed me so much, that i clicked hugi away and will never read it again.

Diskmags is something very rare. Nice to see another one released. Diskmags are very time consuming to read (and especially to make). I wish I had time. But anyways,. there are some interesting stuff for me to read too as always. Go on!
i'm tired to apply that "every diskmag that is released today is cool because diskmags are so rare" argument to hugi. hugi is dead. butt-ugly graphics, nothing interesting to read, except a few nice-written articles by diamondie. the music is quite okay though, but else it's a senseless production, sorry.
the graphics were pretty crappy, music was teh kewl though. by taking a quick look it seemed like there were a few interesting articles.. gotta read em later on.
what has reverse-engineering got to do with scene, btw? sure it has got, but is there need for re-tutorials?

dont like it. Like the older ones better. Crappy gfx, boring music. But the news are ok though :)
k
The music (one of the songs) was sweet.
The graphics.. not really.
The articles - only mildly interesting.
The introduction: Most probably, that Iraq thing was just an elegant ploy designed to create some attention through controversy. Good one, Adok ;)
Welps. Let's hope for better days :)

Estrayk interview r0000lz :)
I can only underline what has already been said several times. The political babbling in the editorial is misplaced, the graphics are waaay below old hugi standards, music was well chosen, most articles have been published on the web before or they are simply not interesting enough.
what's that on the screenshot? looks like an ugly version of 'sphere grid' in final fantasy x... 8)
Nice musics,
graphics... hmm... I think this can be related to the fact that it was released in a rush,
nice party reports à la DiamonDie,
the editorial... And I thought this was a non-political mag...
I think the next release will be of more quality + won't have editor's babble about the upcoming war on Iran (no offense Adok, I appreciate your opinions).

hugi is going down. not one really interresting article, bad editorial, horrible bad gfx...
below average visuals, too few and not so interesting articles, but thombs up for lots of dedicated work!
I hope better issues will come!

i expected more from Hugi, but keep up the work, can't get much worse =)
Great articles by Shane and the music was adorable!!!
oh man.. adok just should've stopped when hugi was still in shape.
was hugi ever in shape?
yeah #18 had some cool articles ;)
.
send your articles to Pain :)
Great music, some good articles
the graphics and layout aren`t pleasing to the eye, although the music "almost" makes up for that.. yet the main problem stems from the lack of interesting articles. The scene section wasn`t upto much and the fact, that wierd and sad uk scener shanethewolf was allowed to contribute equals to a thumsdown
thanks for the activex article
"The Freedom Diskmag ?" that sounds more "We Adok support bush's preemptive war and US colonialism" Diskmag :/ ... maybe a trip under US massive bombing would be a suitable mind cure...
and please Adok don't speak of the cracking scene you don't seem to know at all : Nforce a cracking group ? lol... Razor1911 has left the cracking scene ? look closer...
however as a new 56ker (hehe DSL isn't enough restrictive ;) i still like the diskmag concept (thanks Chris Dragan for the fine engine) and have found the other articles quite interesting, especially the consistent Diamondie's ones.
hehe /me wants Diamondie as Hugi main editor :p

politics + scene diskmag = lame
(editorial sucks, get a life adok)
(editorial sucks, get a life adok)
ps: the gfx was from the toilet and most articles had nothing to do with computers or the scene at all...

just to make it sure:
i dont like adok, i dont like hugi, nonsceners should not do scenediskmags
amen.

I just keep wondering why people hate Adok. Because he is all so known with that diskmag and you think he doesn't deserve that? Because he is so polite and gentle even in cases of flamewars, unlike most of you? Or because he looks like a highly intelligent annoying nerd? Whatever..
..he is much better than most of you in the demoscene! ;P
P.S. I want my 2 cents back!
P.P.S. DIA FOR PRESIDENT =)

"was hugi ever in shape?"
i liked issues 10-18 (or something like that) i recall. they were far better than this.
and optimus, we dont hate him just because this mag sucks.

Yes! Exactly that's what I am saying, that there isn't only one reason. But why do you hate him? You haven't answered to that??? (No,. I am not the lawyer of Adok :)
weakest hugi ever...
Optimus, at least for me, because of that: http://www.unet.univie.ac.at/~a0102122/imorph.htm
optimus : "the prophet of scene-journalism" and all this arrogant crap towards other diskmags (ie. meaning everything except hug was shit -> lame for other diskmags editors), that's the reason...
hrmmm, ok i guess. PIGFACE!!
i enjoyed the partyreports and the interviews.
but lets face it, this is not a 100% scene-related mag, and i doubt it will ever be. i remember older versions from 97/98 that actually got my whole attention (except some more or less interesting philosophical outbreaks inside the mag).
the musick was ok, but wtf made you use this superfugly interface ..

I have Pain in my eyes...
Worst Hugi ever is this...
Btw. Hungary goes EU aswell... (Hallo Editor!)

Hey guys cut it out! Hugi was great. The music rokks and there were some good articles. So what if Adok speaks his mind about Iraq it's his mag and his right to free speech. Sceners have a problem with that I think.
Fuck the lord smoke the soy!
Fuck the lord smoke the soy!
The worst Hugi ever. I hated the gfx and the article quality was low (re-released articles, few contents, ...)
"" or blank nickname, thanks for the link, it's very interesting..
... i still like it!
hahaha, this must be a joke, not even hugi can be this bad..
*waiting for the 27th issue, it must be cool after such joke as this*
good one adok! you ALMOST had me there =)

even if some articles perhaps could be interesting I find it hard to read them due to the horrible interface. A complete lack of taste...
To be honest. I've seen better issues of Hugi...
The main problem with the Hugi diskmag seems to be total inconsistence. When reading the mag I get a feeling that not even Adok has a clear picture of what material the magazine should contain. The end result looks like whatever you happen to send to the main editor gets published.
It's also not a sin to refuse publishing content with bad quality. Good articles don't even noticed after the reader has seen the crap there is in between. For example what the hell is that Shane's Molineux interview about? Reading it makes me feel ashamed I'm connected to the demoscene. There's also no use for the good engine behind the surface when the interface and ugly graphics ruin everything.
Well, I'm not Hugi's main editor, but Adok - please - learn to say no and don't accept any further crap to be released in your diskmag. I'd really like to read once again Hugi as it was 10 issues ago and actually worth reading, now this all just makes me feel bad.

sucks
by the way, adok claims his mag is equal to raw, rom, scenial or whatever can come in mind
and above all, learn that journalism is objective.
Thus quit with that pro-American crap and do not let article-contributors backstab other people! DiamonDie, you really suck!

Hugi is, by the way, is an interesting example of current scene trends... but never mind, I am just thinking loud. I'll discuss it in Freax.
f*cking sh*t, what the heck that shanedawolf wrote? such stupid shit shouldn't be allowed in a decent diskmag. and the editorial is pretty crappy as well. adok, how about studying a little bit totalitarian theory and general history before drawing relations between dictatures that easily. i don't deny that saddams regime was bloody and terroristic, but generalizations won't help either.
Average production. About the editorial, yes its terrible thing sadamm and his sons did and this has been going on since many many years. Facing tthese facts its almost unbelievible that some counties supported iraq against the war against iran 1980-1988.
interesting read still, and good music imho (Especially compared to pain). but please cut the politics.
somehow this hugi sounds like a diamondie, s!p, adok propaganda magazine to me, and that's why i dont like it.
that "usa uber alles" editorial was quite fun, not :P
wasn't really good, the only article i really enjoyed was tad's hl2vid review...
some above commenters should learn stuff about "constructive criticism" tho...
some above commenters should learn stuff about "constructive criticism" tho...
about the interface, they should design a -nice- one and keep the same for next issues instead of trying to bring "fresh" but incredibly bad stuff.
If you don't like it, why don't you improve it?
why would *we* improve it? i recall some mags that were brilliant even without our support. all it takes is a good main editor.
oh my...
there are some nice articles, but mostly it's boring or just plain shit (like shanethewolfthedogtheshithead's)
and please separate politics from demoscene. demoscene has nothing to do with politics. even it would maybe not everyone is with adok's opinion...
so for the future:
adok: please don't release hugi just for the sake of it, wait for good and interesting articles and skip the shit
all of us: write thos good and interesting articles...

What do people have against Shane? At least he wrote something not like a lot of you whiners.
because Peter Molyneux is God and thou shalt not blaspheme Him :p
and because shane pulled TRSI name in shame by releasing fake amiga products in 2000.
no...
Sorry, I liked HUGI and hope the next issues will be w/out political stuff. We don't need pro-US-imperialistic propaganda, or at least turn brain=on before using phrases. One small example: Do you really think all dictators were/are automatically bad?! Are our so-called "democracies" THAT better? ARE they still democracies in the old-greek sense? Isn't Bush a WELT-dictator with most Countries i.e. Germany as "Vasallenstaaten"? OK, punch me as I have become political here also, and I'm not saying I know anything better, but I just want you all to ASK more and don't believe every shit the media (guided by the government anyway) tries to tell us every day.
bioxxoid, better check back on greek "democracies" before praising them over everything else. just read platons state theories or aristoteles' "politeia" and you'll see that your argument makes no sense.
anyway, thumbs down for adok's political crap as well.
anyway, thumbs down for adok's political crap as well.
what has hugi become? crap.
dipswitch, you are right. without knowing too much background that was as crappy blah from me as done by adok. I thought of the democratic ideal in a philosophical sense, but the old greek's practical democracy was not this ideal, too.
Political statements in the demo-scene are really a hard cookie, so in the end best would be not to talk about politics in scene-related boards or forums (or in discmags ;-)

more than bullshit, they created shit;)
hopefully it's a free mag...

newsflash:
you were never in trsi.
warhead/trsi (the organizer at the time) made an official info file where he quite frankly stated that 1) you're not in trsi, 2) you're never been in trsi, and 3) you're a lamer.
and what about the trojan that you released as a fake darkage intro?

1. TRSI was a misunderstanding
2. I released stuff for TRSI and kept the Amigo section alive.
3. If I'm a lamer then Warhead must be a lamer cos I do more than him.
4. I didn't make that darkage trojan or the dcs ones. They were sent to me by some lamers who told me they're intros so I spread them. Not my fault they lied and send me a trjoan.
4. Were is TRSI now? What was the last thing they did for the scene?

I've only been able to read the mag online as my PC has packed up, but judging the article content alone, I found it to be a very poor issue.
There has been a lot happening on the scene - with Breakpoint happening not too long ago - and I'd have thought it would be an ideal time to release a scene mag. But instead it was filled with inane nonsense and cut and pasted reports from web sites.
It's really upto Adok how he fills his mag and it's not an easy task, but the Hugi style just doesn't appeal to me at all.
I suppose we can all point the finger and say it's the lack of support that's to blame, but there has to be some incentive to write articles for a mag in the first place. And I doubt many people would wish to spend hours writing, interviewing and researching for an article only to have it obscured by stupid little stories and fake interviews.
Sure, some people took time out to support the mag, but it's these people (no names, but no points for guessing) who drag the quality of the mag down and deter the more serious supporters.

Not bad, but certainly not good. A blip in the whole run of things. Don't let this get you down Adok. I'll certainly be reading the next Hugi... Maybe advertise more for articles?
Well, I liked it. I didn't think the interface was ugly, although it wasn't the best one Hugi has had. As for contents, I thought it was nice to see all the polygon drawing stuff in one place.
Keep up the good work!
