haujobb is back but we were _never_ gone!
i would have prefered this to be two demos but anyway - massive production!
i especially enjoyed the first part... the music, the music, the MUSiC!!!
the haujobb soap continues...

Haujobb is back!!! ieAH!
P'tain, vos prod son très cool, j'adore! ;)
RULEZ GRAVE.
I think, Haujobb just reached a new step in the evolution of their state of the art with this prod.

Demogroups should quit the scene more often, if we could then get such great comebacks.
i didn't like the white brutal cut-images but overall was nice (and the music was greeeaaat)
omg, haujobb is back. and HOW they are back!! excellent production! i think i'm about to weep silently.
yes the music was VERY good
also nico to see it was a bit different than that standard visualice-design we all know and love/hate

absolutely astonishing!!! unreachable for a while, i guess
The music is in fact rather poor and those dark distorted vocal ruin the tune quite a bit.
The rest of the demo is... well... haujobb, self-repetition in perfection. Nice to watch though.

Tomaes i hope you didnt press esc since the music in the 2nd part is really different! :)
Humm, it crashed after the "don't press esc" scene and I thought that was supposed to be the end. :)
ahh.. then you have a radeon8500 or something. that bug will be fixed asap! sorry you cannot enjoy the 2nd part yet. there is a lot to come after the "don't press esc" scene.
used vic's tune. I love that tune and it was nice to see it in a demo.
it crashed here after the 'dont press esc' aswell, gf2mx
i could watch it.. tho i saw lighting/geometry artifacts (bugging i guess.. my card could be overheated aswell).
anyway it seems like there was an awfull lot of effort involved with this demo, and that was clearly visible. nice graphics, nice meshes, nice animation.. but still i have the feeling that it could use something 'extra'.. maybe i found the design a bit too busy at certain points.
props anyway.

I found the first part (before don't press esc) a bit too haujobb-ish, I didn't like it actually. But the second part is amazing, I liked every single bit of it.
This was very nice on the big screen. It's really nice to see they weren't never gone :)
crashes here too... so anyway, the first part is generic haujobb-demo, so I'm anxious to see what the second part looks like. :)
Music and visuals in harmony.
the music and the atmosphere of the first part is really excellent. But i find this prod Tooo longg and it's all over the same haujobb style...
Nice, very haujobbish and it's easy to see that a lot of work has been put to this prod, but I don't like the style too much and it's too long and a bit boring. Please don't intepret me saying it's bad.
crashes here before the 2nd part, too. using a geforce though.
This is good haujobbish :)
haujobb are back.
the first part is so lala (I dont like some of the B/W-textures), but the second parts music and graphics are so very very very very very beautiful.
all in all: great haujobb quality.

Oh, so this is what you get when you slap two haujobb demos together?
First part was pretty much uneventful, second part was a bit better, but no cigar. It relied far too much on the tried and tired concept of vizualice's meshes 'n overlays.

Having a beer, watching this Demo, true
Excellent design and music in the first part. Looked like it was some problems with placement and movement of objects in some scenes, but otherwise great.
Not so good music in the 2nd part, but imho better effects.
I agree with fiver2 that it should have been two demos though... Nevertheless one of the best productions I've seen so far this year.

this is great prods!
I think that it is the best result among prods of the past Haujobb.

Too long, too haujobbish. And every effect is repeated over and over. Second part music is nice, yes.
It is incredible how such a long demo can be so enjoyable... The music is top notch and this demo loves antialiasing :-)
H A U J O B B
these demos are cool. I mean both of them. You say this is one prod? Then a bit boring. And has no connection between demo1 and demo2. Can I give 2 rulez and one sucks?
did the math, thats a plus. so here you go.
did the math, thats a plus. so here you go.
YES! Very cool demo. Music rules indeed. We need more comebacks like this ;)
rlz
it crashed after the 'dont press esc' aswell. 1,4 Ghz Athlon, Asus Geforce 2. 256 Ram.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "TOO HAUJOBB-ISH"!!!
So like, what? Haujobb made two demos for Assembly 2002 and then decided to stick them together at the last minute? That's sure what it looks like to me.
The second half kicks the crap out of the first section. In fact, it could stand up quite well without the darker beginning half. But still nice all around.
One complaint have about this, and many other haujobb demos, is the choice of voice samples in the music never really fits, or is simply annoying.
Oh well, nice to see some more of the "haujobb style," even if others don't like it.

always the same old show.
it looks the same as all the latest haujobb demos, no creativity in here... and this production won the assembly demo compo! shoot me now...

Bang!
*BOOM BOOM BOOM* as Toby said it, they couldn't live without making any demos as haujobbers or something...:D
Nice ambiance, i really like it.
brioche: "no creativity in here" WTF?!
They aren't back, they simply Cut'n Pasted old Visualice shit together right?
Jokes aside, this is so derivative it hurts. The only conceivable purpose of the first part must be to make the second part look nicer, the black & white is butt-ugly. The second part is so forgettable I can't comment on it 5 minutes after watching it. Move on please, Visualice was repeating himself two years ago already!
Music is nice but again, same old stuff.

What Spin said, basically. Watching this on the jury, during the first part, I thought yeah, the usual hjb, top 5 I guess. Then part two played, and kept going and going.. and was just.. beautiful. I felt a lot of emotion and knew it could win. Multipart demos are not a crime! Vic still owns me. The design may still be their regular formula, but dammit it _works_. Hope you enjoy your Rob Hubbard autographed C64, guys. :) Glad you only faked your death.
wonderfull
even if you don't like visualice's style or don't like accelerated demos, or just don't like nice demos, you decently can't give it a thumb down, just for the work ..
my favourite from the compo definitely .. makes obsolete all the previous haujobb demos ..

I always loved groups with their owen style! That is why I really gott my expectations up when I heard Haujobb won Assembly2002. Oh and my expectations where right! This demo is just enourmeous.
I can understand why it does not apeal to everybody. But it really apeals to me! This is just the type of demo I would like to se more of. Deep, artistic and with mesmerising music. Pure art! Keep it up Haujobb!

what can i say. perfect?
A little bit long and boring, but all in all it's very good!
haujobb what the is it ?
As long as I can't watch the second part I don't like it very much. Hope the bug get's fixed soon (gf2mx here).
Haujobb are back!
Sound and visuals are excellent!
Great atmosphere!
Awaiting more stuff :)

Most people say more and more "This is the same"... Okey, Haujobb's style is:
I Love or i Hate
I like or don't
Jus't that, same as other groups...
If you like (yes, personaly i like this style) enjoy,
if you don't like, don't blame the demo, blame your tastes!
pk is not dead and pk is right!
I really enjoyed this demo, although its a bit long-lasting ... i especially enjoy the soundtrack of the first part, very nice feeling. I do however not feel that the vocals are misplaced, in my mind they work just fine (but hey, that may be just my mind ;) Overall: very nice and stylish. And those who complain about "oh, so typical haujobb-ish" .. well .. what did you expect?
I enjoyd the music. Nice that haujobb is back.
It's long but the heart B&W scene and some scene of the 2nd part are worth it.
Damn you guys are too tough to beat :D. Spekt!
no..... really not
Looks ok, sounds ok but just isn't my kind of demo. I wish Blowjobbb would've made a comeback instead. ;)
Long and boring, typical haujobb style (which I don't like) especially in the first part that sucks... the second part is better though, and I could even give it a thumbs up if this demo started from the second part... for now I'll choose the middle way.
However I would prefer if you people stayed dead... I feel that there are enough of those visualice demos around, don't you think?

we have a c64 demo which is not done by visualice for you, Nuclear.
two great demos. graphics were as great as always but demos are a bit too boring. (or maybe it's just that i'm too tired) i don't think this should have won.
the change between the first dark part to the bright second part is actually what makes this demo look so good. It gives it a very good feeling.
Nuclear "I prefer you were dead": Don't know about you, but I prefer being gay to being a nazi. :-)

2 demos in one for a very good production. 1st part has brilliant music but is let down a bit by some crappy envmappings. Also, without looking at the credits you know it's from visualice ;). Second part is solid in all aspects.
A great comeback!!!
Please share some musicians! :P

This demo is really good and the music is great, I liked the idea and the scenes.
great that haujobb is back :)
it crashed when loading the 2nd part, but still for the first one a thumb up. altough it's always the same, i like the visualice style :)

The boozing continues...
I m sorry to say taht as an old hujobb member ( i really like you guys) but please renew yourself ( BTW : cocoon didn't renew itself a lot i know : but at least elements was neat and clean : this is pretty average. Sorry about this but I think you should have take some time to do a demo after channel five .
better than some other hjb-demos. but it still doesn't feel like its important...
pretty average
looked and sounded amazing during the compo. i felt sleepy at that time and it somehow looked like a living dream. really, my friends, don't change your style. stay haujobb.
in haujobb we trust.
in haujobb we trust.
I can only watch the second part in Win2k on my box, on XP it crashes...
The crash seems to occur in the event-processing loop.. Perhaps it tries to trigger more events than there's available, and Win2k doesn't mind because it has a different granularity with allocation... Or maybe something else... Anyway, please fix it :) I don't feel like figuring it out myself atm

Usually I'm not too impressed by Haujobb-demos, but like this one veeeery much. First part is OK, second part comes close to a wet dream. Vic's track rules!
I fail to see how the second part is different from earlier hjb-prods, and it's not better than the first part either. music is ok, and visualice is a very good artist, but it's still BORING!
and oh yeah.. it does not run at full framerate at a gf2ti64DDR/athlon1200/512MbRAM/win98se/dx8.1-system. I don't see anything justifying that in this demo.

Good atmosphere, but a bit too long "as-is" to my liking.
the second part is really cool.
but after all that "haujobb is dead" stuff i expected more. what a perfect chance for innovation instead of refinement, that would have been the perfect moment! they need a better pr-agency.

I must emphasize Rainmakers comment. you guys rock.
fuckin' awesome show, my personal favourite.

Amazing show! best of the Haujobb style! First part was good, too
borhing shiat but looks nice
The first part was good and had a nice atmosphere but...
The second one was simply stunning! The soundtrack is IMO the best ever in a haujobb demo and one of the best demotunes ever. Nothing has caused such shivers up my spine since cyboman1.999 or, before that, dope.
The amazing tune, the great gfx and the effects (i love the warping/bubbling/distorting thing) create a purely stunning flow and atmosphere.
markus, timo & co. i love you guys!
ps. now how about that 3rd part?<g>

lug00ber: I would be lucky to have such a fast machine like you and can't understand what you are missing speedwise. Even on my quite slow pIII-450 with tnt2 (256mb ram and win2k sp3) this demo is very enjoyable and I have seen much slower stuff.
Long demo, firts stage rockss, second is worse but I think it is reason of that liquid atmosphere, Anyway this is a Worthy Winner, outstanding demo , which was created by bunch of guys, who knows what "ART" means.....ROXXX a RUUULZZ!!!!
crest: i wouldn't install sp3, did you read the contract? it says:

Deleted !!
Due to the vocals in the music.
Completely instrumental I would have kept it.

DemoMike: Pure nonsense!
roboriot: Well, we all know that M$ is the big evil, but my system works quite well with this os and I have even about 35 mb more space left on my hd than before (and no, my mp3's or videos are not deleted by M$) ;)

artsy fartsy.
See the almighty magic bevel in action.
I cannot believe it won.

great lifesign of haujobb. sure, many people would say "another haujobb self-ripoff"... well, i think it's okay when haujobb drive the same style in their pc prods. it's this fragile elegance that no other group can deliver. thumbs up !
Dear Haujobb-Music-Gods,
please release a >64kbsp - stereo version of the vicdemo_64.mp3.
I never heard such a good tune in a demo since "Realize (Rymdlego)" (Fall Equals Winter).

Tough luck. Vic / Acme made this neat preview years ago. Try and find him, not the Haojobb people :)
Well it is Haujobb :) Object infront of effect..
Some nice gfx and stuff, but to long and got boring on Bigscreen.... and name voting... didn't deserve the first place..

The first part was OK, but the second part.. wow. Surely among the very finest moments of Haujobb so far.
namevoting? this was the top notch demo! - go sit in your corner with your dummy-hat on peggy!
and demomike - thumbing down a prod due to vocal samples - get a grip

great demo, good effects, dreamlike overlays, etc... but I doubt I'm gonna watch it again any time soon.
hmm, doesn't the second part music sound a little similar to the tune used in the Takeover'99 invitro? :)
"to take influences from others are unavoidable, but to rip-off yourself is just crude"
Pable Picasso
I agree.
Pable Picasso
I agree.
liquid wen & elements = the best hjb-demos!
sag, made by some cool guys?
ile: obviously.
ok now this is scary :)
same old haujobb-"artycrap" as always.
i really like the athmosphere&style of that demo... great to see hjb still kicking!
Dear Mr. Music-God Vic,
Give us a sign! (a >64kbsp - stereo version of the vicdemo_64.mp3)
Thanks in advance. Mana will be send to you after the arrival of the holy tune.

So close, but this is like Haujobb vs Scooby Doo
And you would have got away with it too if it wasnt for you pesky -
- Transparent tendril objects, AGAIN
- Airbrush/smear paintings, AGAIN
That said, the smoke/lightning in part one and the water in part two are superb.

It crash just before the second part(win2000 gf2mx)
download the prod again from our website in case you had some crashes with the version.
One word: __A_R_T_Y_C_R_A_P__. Again. This demo offers absolutely nothing new to the n^2 previous Haujobb artycrap demos. I have to admit, the first couple of ones were quite impressive, but PLEASE, this isn't even funny anymore.
BTW. If you really have to put a text saying "Do not press ESC yet" in the middle of the demo, doesn't that kinda give a hint that the demo is boring in the first place?

10 minutes of untalented, boring, boring, untalented, crappy, boring and b/w artycrap. without the word 'arty'. i just can't possibly think how this was voted 1st.
this was a below_the_bottom release from haujobb. it wasn't even technically good. some lowpoly figures with envmap and THAT'S IT.
You guy's really should know when to stop. Really.
Don't quit reading this message.
It was boring. Boring. Boring. Boring. I fell quickly asleep _three times_ during this demo, and i wasn't even tired.
Boring. As is this comment. But i have the guts to REALLY stop it here.

Haujobb should have stayed dead. Apparently they cannot keep their word.
They must have been vote cheated for this crap to win. This is the most boring demo I have ever seen.

when i heard this demo came 1st i almost puked.
excellent demo. don't listen to little arrogant clowns.
Haujobb'ers, i love that demo... but hey, i only saw if one time since than it constantly crashes after that "Don't press ESC" part, when the screen fades to black. I tried it all, it crashes all the time. Really makes me wonder why it worked the first time i saw it. Too bad, because part 2 is my favourite one.
PS: I've got a GeForce3, just in case that it is of interest.
bah, it crashed at home and right after the 'do not press esc' message!.. win2k/athlon1700+/384ram/gf3ti200/det3030..
jazz: i did so, it still crashes.
im not a big fan of the "visualice" haujobb demos, but this one has certainly something about it... i enjoyed both parts. not my fav from asm, but its in the top3, so t. up
robo, contact droidi, a fixed version is on its way.
If the demo crashes on your machine, then you really shouldn't comment on the demo as a whole. (The second part is substatially better than the first, and they probably should've just released it on its own - although the contrast is nice)
They certainly have a unique style, and I guess you either like it or hate it. If anything it's very well designed, with some really pretty moments, but overall I found it a tad boring. (except for the music in the second part, that was absolutely brilliant)
I really liked the watery/warpy effects in some parts, even though it ran like crap on my Matrox G400 :)

i like this style though it's a bit boring. I think Kewlers' demo was a bit better, so this should not have won.
I don't generally like this style of demos. Of the "artycrap"-genre this is surely the top of it. But it's also very boring. I would have liked it more if you would have cut out 80% of it off since it still has pretty much repetition. I like multipart demos, but only if they don't bore me.
Some parts of it sure look very nice, but equally some look very bad. For example one part has an envmapped object which has an uv-mapping seam which looks very bad although it shouldn't take that long to fix ugly looking bugs like that in the 3D engine which they have been using for ages now?

This is so boring. If any of the true groups would have taken part of the combined demo combo, your prod would have placed 5th or lower. The quality of the combined democompo was really crappy this year. Isn't it boring making the same demo over and over again? All the oldskool groups moved to mobile combo coz there is some true challenge there. Why don't you try to do some innovative programming next time instead of medicore 3d scenes. Boring.
stay dead blowjobb until you learn how to make DEMOS. lousy same engine/effects, boring design, nothing new... makes you look like lamers.
some words of wisdom>
all other relevant groups are dead - we are not,
that is why we won assembly - and you did not.
those who dislike visualice demos,
should not watch visualice demos,
because chances are big they won't like 'em.
and yes, that engine is old.
there are newer engine, but nobody uses those.
whatever.
i like this shit :)

oh and thumbs down for hellfires attempt to write a cool arrogant post here, it wasnt arrogant enough...
cheers!

ok, then let's try it the other way:
you are all right, our demos are non-innovative and boring. a couple of demos from this year's assembly were far better.
we tried to change, but we didn't succeed
- and most likely this will never happen.
so the only way to get rid of us is:
-> don't download our crap.
-> close yours eyes when our demos are shown on demo parties.
no hard feelings, i love you all :)

WTF! - somebody outside knicked a bypass logo (hpp) =)
Haujobb has done lots of good demos, and this was really one of the quite good "artycrap"-demos. But I think this prod didn't have 1/100 of it workload that for example Halla by Moppi had. Artycrap just don't give me nothing. Just like watching too much abstract-stuff in arts-school. It made me dislike most of the abstract-art. I like to watch something that no-one have to tell me what it performs.
gekko: that´s because "hpp" made this account only because he wanted to diss this haujobb prod. same thing with judass for example. unfortunately this happens quite often...
hellfire_ : I acctually did close my eyes =) I nearly fell asleep during your demo :) Tho it didn't have anything to do with the contence, I was just tired...
I like it. Its slow and pretty boring, but it looks good and there is plenty of work behind it.
i fell asleep during this one. too boring, too long.
the kewlers demo was much better. :)
the kewlers demo was much better. :)
need to see second part.. badly... geforce3... craches after no esc scene
again... hope to meet u haujobbers on evoke to start some boooozing ;)
face the fact, who else in the german scene is able to booze with you beside haujobb? :)
i want that someone from haujobb fix this bug. crashed after "do not press esc now"
Please. I like the first party very well and want to see all.
Please. I like the first party very well and want to see all.
well...it's too grey... and .. to confusing. I think. :/
I like lasts haujobb demos, and this is not an exception. The first part is beautiful, but the 2nd part is much better... love it!! Ah, and works fine with TNT2+WinXP :)
jazz : me! ;)
nice graphics indeed, the style was a bit diffrent this time.
also its nice to be the only one greeted :I
The best PC demo from haujobb imo.
Hellfire : i mean every thing is fine in this demo : i do not blame you ( and i think we all don't ) but haujobb means ( for me ) : innovative kick ass stuff like discloned.
I think we would like haujobb to astonish us again.
When you see haujobb entering in the compo now you know what is going to happen which waz not the case in the past.
Estrage was a bit different and somehow i found it better... But no offense .. stay on the scene guys .

Great demo, good work guys. !!!

Very very very... very!
hmmm, how come that most of the people who are flaming hardcore-style here, are just some unknown jerks noone ever heard of ? :P isn't it remarkable that well-known sceners like it and not-well-known don't ? reason ? jealousy ! envy ! hypocricy ! so, haujobbers, as dake/calodox said, dont mind these clowns.
bah, the demo just _is_: boring.
dipswitch: perhaps the unknown jerks don't feel like they have to kiss ass?
honestly, I hoped for this to be different, and I (for some reason which I can't find now) though it would be so too. But it's just more of the same old, and it's just too boring, no matter how pretty it is.
..and oh, isn't it ridiculous when people try to use their status as a "well known scener" to indicate that people with another opinion than themselves don't really know what they are talking about?
jerk.

of couse you are absolutely right. this demo feels like the ones before.
i was in no way involved in the creation of this demo, and personally i would have made a completely different one.
still i like to watch it.
and to be honest, i haven't seen any demo that really excited me for a couple of years now.
might be time to do one by myself...

Speaking of Mikrostrange (which I agree might be the best Hjb ever, if I were forced to choose), any chance of releasing a fixed version? It doesn't work on my machine, stopped working about 1.5 years ago, dunno why.
I love it.
Lovely : a surprising second part that gives this demo a divine flavour. I'm happy to see Haujobb's style again. Keep doing what you like. You do it great !
nice, especially the second part. don't like the first part, except the wired tunnel part, first part is more of the same like channel5,but in grayscale situation, almost all the meshes still viewed DAMAGED, clipping problems?¿ overlapping polys? disagree.
Second part is superb, the fact that all the previous "crap" was in grayscale , increases the enjoyment of the second part, but hey! this prod deserves a respect, well executed.
Better of this demo: Music, sincronization, ideas, ideas...original ideas!

ok, I guess I’ll comment on this too, now that I’ve finally had the chance to watch it.
part 1 is something of a letdown, to be honest. it seems like more of the same old same old. blobs, tentacles, additive layers - screen after screen, absent-mindedly stuck together. there's one screen that looks uncannily like tour by pulse. that was 4 years ago... it’s all still pretty, it always was, but by now it feels like drugged old elvis performing to a lunch crowd in las vegas.
but then comes part 2, and it’s from a completely different planet. this is easily the best haujobb demo ever. the familiar visual style is updated in interesting ways, it flows so much better than the sedated style of part 1, the music kicks ass, and finally the nice coded effects really enhance the overall look&feel (I hope the days of 3d scene player slideshows are gone for good). it’s a great demo.
and really, anyone who thinks this kind of demo is trivial to make is full of shit. let’s not forget that the haujobb demo style as we know it is essentially a one-man show. any artist gets self-derivative at some point before moving forward. besides, it’s not like visualice needs to care about my opinion or anybody else’s who’s vain enough to spout their judgements here on pouet - winning 1st prize at tp and asm in row is achievement enough, he can just laugh all the way to the bank so to speak :)
yep, seems like the news of elvis’s death was quite premature :)
(btw, no hard feelings about the harsh part 1 comments I hope, I was going for the right litterary effect you know... ;))

yes yes! first nice haujobb prod since their wired 98 invitation! a bit too long and a bit (just a bit) boring - but very, _very_ aesthetic and lovely second part with a kickass vic dune (which made me think that this demo reminds maybe a bit of 303? :) nice to see that even haujobb ( ;D ) can make nice design. excellent work, visu & droidi! thumbs up boys!
vic tune even
Just watched the 2nd part finally.Good visuals!
impressive!
i like hjb stuffs
yes, really nice and some progress at least :)
however I believed moppi should have won.
so what, this is cute, hjb is back and we are all happy again.

A hell of a demo, and nice music! I almost fell down from the grand stage on asm02, when I saw this on the big screen! I like part II best, but thw whole demo was nice, esp. the design !
Am I the only one who thinks that the first part is better? >:)
Anyway, this could have been the best demo in the world, if we haven't sawn all the gfx+3d+code in earlier HJB prods.

To all : forget what i said eariler !
I ve seen part 2 yesterday .
In fact the first time i saw it i Pressed esc because i think this was a kind of scener joke !
Now I ve seen part 2 and i really deserve respect .
Sorry I suck

Hm, haujobbs best so far, should have been divided into two demos instead of two parts tho.
This is one of the better demoes I have seen in a long time. I like the fact that it is splitt in the midle. It really gives it a climatic feel. First the grayness and then comes the colors and goose bumps et ce te ra.
My GOD!!!!
How nice it is, that you guys are back. This is a beauty... I especially like the second part.
Looking forward to see more from you. Will you be present at The Party????

Kewlers should've been number one. This is just good work from visualize, nothing more. Great work by him, but the rest, no thanks.
I'm just preparing for my Evoke demoshow and this one is (of course) part of it. For my surprise it was quitting with an error message (something was wrong with liquid.exe) after the 1st part. At this time I was running the demo from a subdirectory on my drive. Just a few days earlier I installed the detonator driver v29.42 and thought that they are the reason for this error but then I remembered that I already tested the demo with these drivers for one time. So I have unpacked the demo archive again, but this time to the root directory of the same drive. And for my surprise it was running now without problems. Strange anyway and maybe some persons which have trouble with this demo should try to run it from the root directory of their drive if they doesn't done so before.
A masterpiece. This is going to be difficult to surpass since everything really forms a synthesis.
brilliant integration of visuals and music ... best titling i can recalll - gorgeous
2 demos in 1! both look and sound great! too bad that the secondpart is so slow. anyway it's one of the best haujobbdemos ever.
i think this is haujobb demo we are used
to expect... and fuck all who think haujobb
sucks!

Well, now that I've seen the 2nd part too (thanks for the fix), I think it's ok to thumb this baby up...
Probably you should consider cutting out the first part completly, since the 2nd one is superior in every aspect (objects, music, flow, post-processing fx).

Oh yeah, if somebody has still got problems running the demo there is a fixed version available here.
no fixed version dont work on :
winMe + p4 1.8 + gef4200ti128 + 512MbDDR + dx8.1
ddraw error + kernel32.dll error

This demo has just grown more and more on me the more I se it. It really is a grand byte of art. ;) The splitt is just perfect. You can really feel the good chill when the "don't press esc yet" part comes. :)
i love the marvellous artwork. great demo!
Friede sei mit Euch ! Warum rastet Ihr immer aus, sobald hjb was neues raus bringt ?
So relax...

the fixed version does it for me - athlon1700/win2k/gf3/detonator21.XX - works okay now, thank you.
Warum sprichst du Deutsch wenn niemand spricht jetzt in dieses thread? So werden die Leute dein message nicht verstanden.. (I know that my German klingt furchtbar ;P)
fixed version has stereo music for 2nd part too!
I almost started to cry when this one won the democompo! It's lame object rotating featuring envmap+blend. I couldn't believe when the results came out (liquid wen is so boring too).
Absolutely one of the best haujobb prods. The atmosphere of the second part is really good. And the music is great. Definitely thumbs up!
Goy-juss. Lovely aesthetics, lovely music, lovely presentation.
on my radeon mobility 7500..it looks really horrible... with newest catalyst drivers.
Ruled, the music was really awesome, but I agree with the overall opinion that the first part isn't impressive.
But the second part, really glued me to the monitor! What a 'return'! Ok, it's the same Visualice, with the style of always, but it's so refined, and nice, that it's unforgettable.
A must see.

fixed version work now for me :
dont press esc yet, oops sorry :) ok i wait
hummm, this second part music is very good, like vangelis ones
i didnt find the 1st part interesting, more boring in fact
but the second, in colors with medusas is cool
so, a thumb up from me because no crash in final and good second part

maybe it's nice and everything but i just wanted to press ESC way to often during both parts..
sorry..

Of course best demo from Haujobb.
Respect.

godamn! very nice! I finaly got access to a machine that allows me to watch newer demos.. yeah!
I didn't really like the black&white part of the demo but that aliencastle(?) with smoke one the water ruled.. man I want to learn photoshop now too :)... color part was great.. inspiring stuff..
thanks alot dudes!

Watching it again with some perspective, I enjoyed it much more than the first (and only) time. Still boring-ish but it does have value and beauty.
radeon update :) with 2.4 catalyst this looks almost sweeter on my mobility 7500 than on a geforce4... thumbs up to ati :)
If it werent for the crappy music in the first part, this would be a big "rulez".
hey, this is the only demo i've actually been compelled to submit any feedback on.. the two parts work divinely together.. one dark, one light, and both with excellent code and i dig both kinds of music.. if i hadn't already thought haujobb were the best in the scene, this would have clinched it.. the art's there but there's amazing technical aptitude as well.. how can you lose with that?
I actually never saw that Demo. ~_~ And that gives it a thumb up. ~_° ?
jare sux :)
hey, did i mention the modeling on the alien creatures making out is pretty damn dope? well, it is.. so there..
sould been 2 though...but KiKaSS anyway,,;)
This is one of those prods you either love or hate. Well, I hate it and love it I guess. The first part wasn't that good, to be honest. Never liked the b/w style. The second part is well, nice. The music is by vic and as pointed out by sagacity was used for the takeover99. I still have the official CD somewhere here and I played it a lot so I knew the music already and was quite surprised haujobb used it for their demo. I had always though the tune would make a nice demotrack. Anyway, the visuals aren't top notch. The design is repetative, the code is the same stuff haujobb has over and over again. As a coder I think they have about 5 different effects in the second part wich lasts an EON. The alien romance model was dope tho and some other parts stood out as well but too few to impress. Next time leave out all the boring stuff and don't stretch 2 minutes worth of material into a 10 minute demo. Still above average and welcome back
1st part: not bad
2nd part: utterly amazing... sent shivers through my body. those overlay effects give everything a very dreamish (trippish?) look. fabulous music. perfect timing - as soon as there is a slight danger to bore the viewer, a new scene appears.

watched this for the third time. noticed a few things.
1. it's less magic and more workmanship than i thought.
2. it's buggy here and there (envmapping in 1st part is really horrible).
3. it's just so so SO beautiful. i can't remember any demo by any group on any platform touching me like this one does (previous no 1 was kasparov probably).
badly fitting vocals? hell no, they keep the soundtrack together and intensify the atmosphere.
boring flyby? well yes, basically all they show is rotating objects. plus overlays, 2d artwork and gorgeous light effects. if you consider this boring - go ahead. i will continue to watch and listen and be amazed.

i dont like very dark demos. the first part was boring and i started to feel as i would like to press the escape button. but.. i stayed there and didnt gave up hope. and i was rewarded :=)
the second part was great! they could have totaly skipped the dark part and only used the brighter one. it would have been long enough anyway ;)

it's nice to watch, but it's all too long, you really should have splitted this demo into two =) The first part was great =)
keep on going.
keep on going.
Well, I haven't really seen any other Haujobb demo, so i put thumbs up... I just can't believe that this won the assembly democompo.
I feel sorry for those of you guys who can't put your fucking prejudices aside before watching a demo, instead of trying and enjoying it as much as if it was the first time you saw one.
I think this is a terrific demo. I liked it a lot.

First haujobb demo I //really// like. The second part is really nice.
second part is really nice and has kickass music. too bad the first part isn't all that.
Actually I liked the first part more than the second: Good and simple music togheter with nice gfx.
Overall: a nice Haujobb production.

Well,it seems that in order to create a nice demo, you have to hit certain emotional milestones in your life and have certain things in your mind. And that is why most of the downers here fail to understand Liquid Wen.
While it clearly needed some more work in some parts,i can only say that Haujobb have got it right.I love you guys, keep it up...Nice to have a demo that talked a bit to my mind...
Guess i have to disconnect now...

awesome stuff
sweet :)
Well, this is a strange one for me. 1st time I saw it, i thought it was pretty cool. Next time, I though part 1 sucked a bit, part 2 was above average.
But since then, it's grown on me, and it's now perhaps my favorite demo. The effects are good, visualice's artwork is stunning as always, and the soundtrack to both parts are great.
There's also consistency all the way through, I think I see what the demo is about now too. some well expressed deep meaning in a demo? :)
My only criticism is that there are some z-artifacts, particularly in the 1st scene. Could be nvidia driver related (get it on gf2mx + gf4mx, with various drivers). Any chance of a fix?

cool synth, music of first part by teque??? i liked "growling" and monochrome. 2-nd part it's pop for me, but i like it too.
p.s. visualice, come back!
p.s. visualice, come back!
psonice, the z-artifacts are known bugs with all gf2mx/gf4mx cards - only way to get rid of the problem is to use a better gfx adapter such as radeon 8x00/9x00 series or gf2/3/4/fx cards. :)
melw: It's actually a driver issue which causes 32bit zbuffer requests returning 16bit ones. Solution: ask for 24 (that's what you would get anyways requesting 32 on the other adapters).
/me is succesfully disconnected.
I like it.
This prod has the same problem as Variform: The first minutes are not too attractive, and only after the moment you think it's already over ("don't press escape") it actually starts getting interesting. Wouldn't it have been a better idea to release parts 1 and 2 as two separate demos?
Melw: thanks, I happen to have a laptop with radion 9200 in atm - will try it now. Also, thanks for the music in 'art'.
Ahhhh yes. No more artifacts from the nvidia "speed enhanced 8bit zbuffer feature" (TM). Must upgrade my graphics card.
Strange though, there were other artifacts appearing on the radion that weren't there on the geforce mx (like some lines seemed pixelated on the smoke effect near the start, and some effects near the end had squares where the scene was offset... perhaps that was an intended effect, but I thought it was better without).
Also, the first part music is perhaps the worst demo tune ever when it's heard through laptop speakers :) (on decent speakers it rules though)
Still perhaps my favourite demo.

I haven't commented on this yet? wow!
I like the music to part one better than Vic's tune in part two (so dark and whatnot versus Vangelis-style tuneless ambient), but visuals are better in part two. I'm not a Visualice fan, but if you wanna see one Visualice demo, I think this is the one to see.
First HJB demo I liked since Disclone

one of the best hjb demos. stunning work by visualize. also the bubble/lens-distortion-whatever effect was nice. the rest is the usual hjb stuff.
I used to dislike this one, and I still don't like the second part. But the first part deserves a big thumb up.
"Disconnect me. I could be reworked. But I'd never be top of the line again. I'd rather be nothing."

The first part was very good, the second has blown off my brain.
lovely. best hjb ever did
Why haven't I voted on this?
This demo is so damn nice. The graphics, the graphics!, the music, oh, the sweet sounding music and some kick ass code!!
Please Haujobb, release more demos!! :-)

Ok, this argument counts. Good point. :)
An excellent show - had the same feeling as most of you when I saw it at first with the parts - actually saw it once being so foolish that I pressed ESC when it said I shouldn't :-)...
But it's really excellent, the music, visualize visuals and the nice distortion really works great together!
But it's really excellent, the music, visualize visuals and the nice distortion really works great together!
the visuals look absolutely uninteresting.. almost as if they were corrupted.
on top of that i was surprised to hear a tune by VIC being so uninspired, empty and repetetive without having an interesting character. really couldn't stand it and had to hit ESC after a while.

I've always pressed ESC during the first part, but for some reason I watched it yesterday in its entirety. And when the second part started, I was totally blown away. I'll never ever ever ever ever say bad things about Haujobb again.
Somebody is eating my votes... revoting
Preacher, if I remember right it says "Don't press ESC yet" ;)

Totally cool. The musics are a real milestone in demomaking :)
Best hjb demo ever! I like it very much when it exits before the second part . After i got a new gfx-card and experienced with the second, i can't belive what i see. Two in one, and how coooool !!! GREAT ! BIG THUMB UP !
Haujobb in black and white. Nice. :-)
like it
too long
i can't understand why people like this demo...
the first part would be ok, the music is cool, BUT it is black and white which really sucks (all b&w demos i've ever seen suck with the single exception of http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=9516)
the second part is simply fucking boring

No, the second part rocks and I would really like to have an option to skip the boring first part.
bla
best ever.
How can anyone find this boring? It's absolutely beautiful.
liked it since I first saw it
Too long too boring, moody music, kinda liked the first part more. I think..
8==o~ Second part is fucking perfect!
Evoke 2004, me and Sobec at his pc with nearly full volume. He: "Ok, you choose the next demo." *search* *start liquid wen* "Oh, good choice, best Haujobb-demo ever!"
Ok, I don't know if it is the best from them, but .. I'll watch it now again. :)

First part ain't all that, but still quite stylish - second part is awesome though.
the magic of this work proved a very strong impression on me, and it still does. thank you, haujobb.
The first part have some visuals glitches (flying through objects and so on) but it's very good anyway (the heart object is so-so).
The second one is almost entirely driven by the brillant soundtrack which adds something "epic" to it, extending the 3d imagery with a 4th dimension (imagery which otherwise, just consists of some more or less weird objects rotating around with a nice lenz effect) and this in conjunction with a good synchronization leads to a powerful osmosis and an excellent additive for mushrooms.

=)
I *love* the music in this demo. The visuals are pretty but a bit too stereotypically haujobby. It's boring in that it's long, and very artistic... good stuff.
this one was perfect and hit me really deep. both parts are freaking good.
..boring, i think.
Second part seems incredible after the first part -- propably this is why there are two parts.
So beautiful! So true!
So beautiful! So true!
Thumb Up for this beauti.
The second part is really good. But I love the first one.
When I first saw this demo I thought it was cool (I saw the first part), then I thought now there's the end scroller or something but no.. instead it started kicking ass!
piece of art
Best music. Ever.
Wow, two demos in one! Either one deserves a big thumbs up, but I especially like the second one. Great stuff!
massive
nothig to add
A great experience.
They really can do demos with atmosphere... I just love it!!
haven't thumbed up? the atmosphere is unbeatable.. great visuals with great music ambience.. i enjoy just listening to "deep sounds.xm", imaging something...
Haujobb nearing perfection with their style. One of the very best.
I remember I found it boring but both soundtracks are just awesome and deserve a big thumb up
hm. this demo is a bit strange.
First half of the demo - didn't really do it for me. I think it is really hampered by predictable Chord progressions in music and effects we've seen before. Even if the typography is good.
After being greeting by some (usual) very wonderful 2D efforts by visualice...
2nd half: much better in terms of interest and effects, music a little better too. Great chrome transitions. Fantastic credits sequence.
But.. it wasn't super - and here i feel it was a little confusing to grab the 'concept' of what was going on. I found the sampled spoken voice squence very confusing.. not to mention the final text..... what is this demo trying to say?
So, for these reasons, pig.

stunning and awe inspiring. i just love the beautiful shapes and the scene with the two reflective people / creatures hugging.
One of my favourites.

Great, I need a second cdc for it. ;)
second part is REALLY GOoD!
goodie!
music of the second part is one of the best tracks in demos ever made.
yes it's a flyby but damn fine flyby it is
Now that's what I call BORING!
Loved it.

I miss colours
b/w never was my thing
b/w never was my thing
if you had waited enough, you would have got what you wanted.
Interesting, great atmosphere. The second part is a bit long IMO, but the first part is so cool that it makes up for everything.
indeed awesome
Marvelous demo. Enjoyed watching it immensely.
music of second part this prod is impressive :)
Wow...!
disconnect me
One of the best demos i've seen...
Bring back haujobb!
somewhat boring... sorry...
do i remember correct.? turrican end screen in this.?, anyway this demo kickass...
it's o.k. music of the second pat starts very refreshing but becomes monoton after a few seconds.
still like mosaik a lot more, also because of the music.

Ooops i forget to thumb up this demo !
Fantasic liquid effects. I loved this demo - movie length please :)
oops... I forgot to thumb up!
It had some good scenes, but it was kind of long. Should have been released as 2 separate demos. What was the song in the first part? I loved it.
Still great in '07 ;)
Vics music rulez...definately!
SOLID :)
A masterpiece of design, music and metaphors
Until now, this demo represents for me what I want to do in the demoscene.
Until now, this demo represents for me what I want to do in the demoscene.
Imho Vics tune in part 2 is still the best soundtrack I've ever heard in a demo.. and this is the favorite demo of my girlfriend. So, I better thumb this up now... or no sex for the next 6 months. :)
The second part is true beauty. Amazingly it is still as good today as it was years ago, while other demos appear kitschy after three repeats.
A big contributor is definitly the music.
A big contributor is definitly the music.
I agree that the second part is beautiful, but I still think it needs "something". Dunno what. Perhaps some variety of sorts? I mean, it's all big, complex objects being twirled and spun. Woohoo? The music is very fine, though. Kinda Vangelis meets the 90s - but overall I'm not THAT impressed. I guess you should have been there?
what las said
it was great at the screen, it is great off screen, too. a bit sloppy feeling, perhaps. i love the music.
oh yeah, i remember yawning during this entry in the compo. This is the kind of artsy demo that would require much better artsy skills to justify not being a classic techy coder showoff and wasting clocks and requiring modern hw to run.
liquid is too arrogant and self-satisfied, it doesn't entertain the viewer, rather it forces the viewer to adjust himself to the pace of the demo, which is slow. there is not enough story to be told to fill the 10min gap, and i'm not saying *all* calm moody demos are boring. this just happens to be a class A example of such. and as i've never quite understood the "let's rotate random static meshes with cool surfaces" -phenomena, i just can't see the point in this one. as many have said, the second part is way better than the first one but as a whole.... bah. throw in more creativity and expression to justify the fartsy acceleration and scripting.
...and fuckings to those not being able to stand constructive criticism :-)

it's multipart oh and it's quite awesome for its era!
one of the greatest soundtrack in combination with extremly atmospheric graphics. impressive.

I'm so in love with the second part...
Both parts !!!
This demo makes me feel happy. Very uplifting experience.
Works still.
Best demo soundtrack ever. What merlucin said.
My long forgotten thumb for this!
my thumb! better late than never ;)
my thumb!
makes me remember my first visit to assembly..
goosebumps. breathtaking. awesome atmosphere. wow.
A very good demo to watch from time to time.
Where are the speech samples in pt. 2 taken from, BTW?

my favourite demo!
truly a majestic experience
I did not like the b/w part very much, after that the demo gets much better, but is a bit too long in the end.
It's the music that does it. The visuals are also very relaxing. I change my mind about this demo :)
back in black.
and white.
and colors.
and white.
and colors.
Each time after wathing this demo...I'd rather be nothing...
Yes... me too!
I still don't get tired on watching this prod... more! more! :)
oohhhhhh yes!
majestic.
Sets a nice mood that puts you into a dream about the future, about the great things beyond mankind. Made a pretty big impression on me. I want more of this stuff :-)
and again! really incredible mind-jobb!
(like stage7 sez, from time to time it´s worth it ;)..)
luv that demo!
respect.

the second part is incredible.
I love the first part of the demo.. the music and the demo. I can`t understand what that voice sais..
never understood the title.
zest: i think the title is simply the combination of the two titles of the demoparts "wen?" < first part and "liquid" < second part
afaik originally it was intendet to release them seperately
afaik originally it was intendet to release them seperately
in the first half, i like the subtle music, the unique visuals, the smooth motion, and the syncing. do NOT press ESC yet.
the second part has a cool tunnel effect with translucent surfaces moving in opposite directions. the filtered synth sequence sounds awesome.
this demo really stands out. everything fits so well together, and the mood and style are consistent throughout. end of the line.

still no thumb? hallo,was?
this is an alpha-channel-monster but does it that well, especially with the music...has to be love!
at some point i´ll be adding some CDC here! (well,i know CDCs are for prods that didn´t get enough justice yet,but this one so deserves to get another heart!)

YES! totally awesoooome!
so amazing.
Yeah :)
NUB!
best best best since many years
Forgettable.
Great concept, graphics and fantastic tune.
Didn't get to watch the second part that everyone is talking about... too boring.
over the top music. eyecandy sync and visuals.
love
slowly, very slowly, i begin to notice how i am growing past liquid wen's melancholia.
At first glance this might not seem anything special, but when you really get into it...I'm just so lack of words. There's just something so mesmerizing in this.
Most of the effects are just objects that have been handled clevery ways. But the demo itself dosen't contain much effects. Also the demoengine seems to have many bugs and problems(env-map sucks).
I actualy like the first part more than the second part since it atleast includes some kinda have flow-feel but then in the second partsince there wasn't anything new and still no effects so I got bored.
Demoscene also about effects and good CODE.

still so sexy after all these years
great demo!
Nice pacing.
Yes
<3
Nice demo
I don't like it...
FUCK YOOZ
Great demo.
Very nice demo ! Great atmosphere, awesome music, design & graphics & code !
mesmerizing
Not to sure about the visuals but as a package with the wonderful music, its definitely a thumb.
Love this one....the bleak colours and music work together great.
My favorite demo. The first part never fails to suck you in and the second one makes you happy.
mono vs colour parts - nice. uber lazy music & pace, bit repetitive @ times. lots of scenepoetry. enjoyable in every moment though.
The music!
Love this prod. Screamed "future" when i first saw it. Get chills up my spine every time that sparse notes play on the second half. Music, atmosphere, great colours - bigger than the sum of its parts.
Quite the flow!
one of the best
Still gives me the goosebumps after all those years...
grrrrrrrrrrrrreat
Its so bad what they do today...this nice demo never refused to run on any of my machines back in the days
Ah, I didn't thumb this one! Shame on me. This is probably one of few demos that influenced me most. Splitting into two parts (bw vs colors, thoughtful vs agressive, hypnotizing vs delivering) is very clever. But the final minute with the count-down is pure genius. I watched it a million times, and still don't understand why I'm getting goosebumps.
Visualize, I miss your stuff!
Visualize, I miss your stuff!
This still is one of my all time favorites!
yes
haujobb at its best [cdc]
This one relly ruled that year ;o)
Wow! Step after step, it takes the spectator farther and farther away...
Some effects are really excellent, even years later!
Some effects are really excellent, even years later!
melikes :D
still shit
Great!
anybody knows what the guy says in the lyrics of the second part? (Joo.xm). I would love to know...
iq, the three speech samples say: "Disconnect me"; "I could be reworked, but I'll never be top of the line again"; "I'd rather be nothing". I know they are from a movie but can't remember which one, I'm pretty sure I've seen it tho...
noby, it's Bishop from Aliens.
diver, ah yes of course :D haven't seen the second movie in years
From Aliens 3:
Still one of my favorite demos, even after time passes. Still watches this at least a few times a year :)
Code:
The company knows everything
that happened on the ship.
603
00:58:53,613 --> 00:58:57,992
It all goes into the computer
and gets sent back to network.
604
00:58:58,076 --> 00:59:00,036
And they want it.
605
00:59:00,120 --> 00:59:05,416
I hurt. Do me a favor.
Disconnect me.
606
00:59:05,500 --> 00:59:09,587
I could be reworked,
but I'll never be top of the line again.
607
00:59:09,671 --> 00:59:12,339
I'd rather be nothing.
608
00:59:12,424 --> 00:59:14,925
You're sure?
609
00:59:16,678 --> 00:59:19,305
Do it for me, Ripley.
Still one of my favorite demos, even after time passes. Still watches this at least a few times a year :)
This seems to be a demo which either you hate or you love.
I'm in love with the second part, it's astonishing! <3 vic's demosong nr.2 is one of my favorite songs.

The screenshot scene would be enough for a thumb up, but both parts of the soundtrack are worth two thumbs each!
all time this is one on my favorite prod. Still First Class.
Thank You!
woohoo, it's not a demo... but TWO demos in one :D
still powerful
One of my all-time favorites. There are countless demos that look and sound great, but this one made an impression on me beyond technological feats. Its dark soul really hits me in some nerve, after watching it I always feel like I've just watched a good movie.
jizaz how did I miss that
works for me
years passed and i forgot to thumb this up?!
still an epic masterpiece!
still an epic masterpiece!
nice one!
Just watched it again. Damn -- the direction is sooo good...
i know its a harsh thing to say considering the history of this demo but i just cant connect.
dont get me wrong, i love most demos by visualice and haujobb but this particular early 3d accelerated style just never did it for me. the music is claimed to be an alltime classic but i forgot it already so thats that.
i guess i just prefer variform.

in fact I preferred part 1, the black & white style and the track are so great
Worth a thumb!
Anybody knows what the guy says in the lyrics of the second part (demosong Nr. 2)? I fail to understand the words after years of listening.
Simply the best one. Everything rocks.
wait...
kimmo s.

it's real name of rainmaker (curly brace)

i don't think so.

Jesus f Christ. I'm here (scene) like 20 couple of years or so and today i saw it for the first time. Beautiful! Love it!
impressive, especially the 2nd part
It is 2017, and I still love this demo.
definitely huge amount of work with such perfect result; despite the first part looks a bit dull and boring, when colors appear on the horizon, it reveals all of beauty and essence.
great! great :)
p.s. anyway variform is better, but that's another story :D
great! great :)
p.s. anyway variform is better, but that's another story :D
oh, and I forgot to mention absolutely astonishing Vic's music in second part :)
variform is overrated
Still awesome
Visualice has a super unique style and it's a chance he was given free reign in demos like this one. Really beautiful and polished, and still very enjoyable today.
Still watching this from time to time, and it still touches me emotionally. Thanks.
nice!
Marvelous!
Music from this demo is always on my playlist.
