AAA you are completely wrong. Colors make it totally different of robuss' monochrome one, nothing to say more. Also same (or very alike) effect could be seen in some recent C64 demos, with the checkerboard also scrolling sideways. Also somebody have just said me that author (=noice) had made same effect elsewhere (not in 1k of course). So no robus relates here.

Yes, ONE effect is the same like that we can see in the Nightmare demo. But: it was surely necessary to optimize code to fit 1K; the algorythm is so well written and open to modifications that it testifies more coder's great skills than his will to recycle older pieces of code. A beautiful work!

BTW, code at first glance looks sub-optimal. For example, 3 times SRA A is no good. RRA:RRA:RRA:AND #1F save you 1 byte and 5 clocks.
