Nice smooth wavy scroller!
cool
Pleasant little prod with nice chiptune.
Very nice.
moroz: I have a theory. It may be totally wrong but here is what I would do.
The font is is scrolling at character speed (8 pixels horizontally), is made of 5 pixels tall definition that are spread over vertically 144 pixel (give or take).
144 pixels divided by 5 pixels gives 3 characters in average to display any of the 5 pixels of a vertical slice of font.
If you redefine the character set to create a set of combinations of slope transitions from one color to the other you can recreate the big pixels by assembling three characters: The top transition, middle pixel, bottom transition.
Just select the correct slope factor based on the sine curve.
At least that's how I would do :)

Awesome scroller
great work gm bit, keep it up. very smooth and fitting tune by master mmcm )
Nice effect!
Dbug:
I remember the big scrolll in "Lethal Formula" we made in Cult in 1991 on Amiga used a similar method as you described.
My guess here, would be to make some (0 to 5) pairs of rows of plots horizontally and then make a total vertical fill of the whole screen then. Also remember that the Spectrum has no characterscreen, but it has more CPU power(3,5 mHz, i remember?), so a vert-fill would be very suitable, i guess.
Lets see this effect on Oric ;)

Oh, no character screen on the spectrum? I guess I was confused by the color system then, two colors per 8x8 block? Guess I interpreted that as some form of char map :)
On the Oric... well I was looking for idea for the 30th anniversary demo, so why not :)

Go on Dbug! :)
The Spectrum has a bitmap with 8 pix per byte, like the C64 hires screen.
But it is true that the color-screen is a character screen excatly like the C64, so you guessed that right :)
This scroll princip should be easy:
Draw (up to) 6 rows of sinus plots based on the 5 pixels font, and then do a logical eor/xor vertical fill of the whole screenarea.

nice to see a fluid fullscreen effect like this on stock spectrum, cool.
A nice small ZX48K prod.
