A ton of excellent grafix from templeton plus a couple of (seen before but nicely arranged) effects. I liked the weird tunnel thingy.

Windows screen crashed at emulator conveniently. Is there a video?
added on the 2012-12-15 20:52:48 by Optimus Optimus
I mean, I never got the blue screen. Now I found it, had a very early TOS rom selected.
added on the 2012-12-15 20:59:08 by Optimus Optimus
video would be great. the graphics in the screenshots look amazing (=
How nice! Slick design, cool flow. And the tunes fit nicely.
The tunnel sequence runs so much faster than Stardust ones, blasting (and the Clooney coffee joke is very well placed :D).

But thumbs up, I just watched it. Cute music, few nice effects, some animations, many graphics. Cool stuff.

My favourite from the full ST demos. Not quite a groundbreaker, but very nice and worth having :-)

Blue screen jokes are so 1999. Nice demo otherwise - cool gfx & music.

I'm not fan of the flow and structure, but there are indeed some cool effects and pictures.

Really great stuff! That tunnel rocks! :)
rulez added on the 2012-12-16 13:10:19 by ltk_tscc ltk_tscc
The "Stardust" tunnel part is really nice as is the music. Rest isn't bad either but didn't really keep my interest. Also, Windows jokes aren't funny anymore so piggie it is.

nice demo and all, but I have to disagree with some of you on that tunnel part.
It runs in 2 frames, has 2 plane tunnel gfx and 2 plane flying objects, just like stardust tunnel. just the hardware scrolling position is set per frame, but that is trivial.
(and stardust actually has more flying objects + 4 plane partially masked player ship to draw on top. trick is optimised blitter code for each individual bitplane and animation frame for objects ;)
added on the 2012-12-17 00:58:40 by wiztom wiztom
>>wiztom

I don't use hardware scrolling for the deplacement per frame. ;)
Scrolling and sprites are made with the blitter in 1vbl. And there's room for another set of sprites ;)

Nice prod with great graphics.
rulez added on the 2012-12-17 16:03:12 by micdune micdune
fantastic! I love the music. Some very nice parts in it. I liked especially the last part when it become so brilliant retro-melancholic. One of these demos I want to watch again! Which I can not say to many demos nowadays...

p.s.: Music wise it is great to see somebody else playing in the league of 505 :)
rulez added on the 2012-12-17 16:47:09 by twh twh
Nice and good spirited demo, a pleasure to watch!
They even made me look at a cube for >1 min, that is devilish! ;p
rulez added on the 2012-12-17 21:19:47 by baah baah
I thought the "transparent look" or "gradient lighting" was something new on a cube, seems like no one noticed it, everyone just see a cube. %)

Great gfxwork by Templeton and overall feel-good demo

>> templeton

Sorry, my bad. (checked it again, objects and tunnel have 25fps animation, so it looked very 2 frame'ish at first).
why not hardware scroll? tunnel gfx and objects are on different planes and there should be memory for 7 frame anim in one meg ste.

(also rechecked stardust, it's been nearly 20 years and my memory is failing :(
objects have some parts in 3rd plane so some masking is needed. hardware scroll and player ship are updated every frame )
added on the 2012-12-18 17:36:55 by wiztom wiztom
>>wiztom

You're right! Good analysis. :)
In fact this scene was originally 50 fps, but I found the animation too fast so I deliberately slowed the anim and I kept scrolling by frame. I thought it was prettier. :)
I haven't used the hardware scroll to not exceed 512 Ko memory for this effect. Like that it's easier to chain other effects without loading.
The hard memory management has been coded by Orion_ :)

I forgot Thumbs up for great music by Cerror and Xylo :)

Contains a significant amount of recycled effects but it's been put together so well that it simply rocks. Also, music and graphics are excellent.
Can't watch it on my MegaSTE though: Bitplanes are screwed up all over the demo :-(

Yes! A pleasure to watch and listen! My favourites are the tunnel effect (quite shocked when saw it first), credits gfx and specially liked the second chiptune, supersweet.

Good graphics by Templeton, some cool effects (the tunnel one especially!) but the overall rhythm feels a bit slow and the design not always consistent. Well worth a thumb up anyway!
