lame music.

The best prod of 2012! Amazing direction.
What a Demo! Now i understand the dubstep and even love it :-D. Thank you Destop, thank you Smash, thanks CNCD.
aww man it wont run on my ATI machine, atidxx32.dll seems to be the fault!
you understand lamestep and brostep maybe
this is dubstep
this is dubstep
might have to plug in my old nvidia card just to see this, as i'm absolutelt itching to watch it :)
very good, but way too eclectic
Love it!
fucking ace, especially the abstract graffiti scene
great
That was awesome!
alone that first scene is worth a thumb.
i like where this is going
Great direction and effects, but destop should have had a little more to play with :)
keito: works fine on amd here (though there are polygon bugs all over;) ), and i doubt your old nvidia card will run it.. check .nfo.

Psycho, thanks for the hints! :) ... As for the old nvidia card it should be enough to launch the demo at which point i can KKapture it.
Fuck me I need a new gfxcard for realtime goodness :)

O_o--b
The whole slow down and speed up in time to a dubstep track is so cliched and overdone these days it always makes me chuckle when I see it (Dstrukt has a lot to answer for!), but to be fair there are some really nice looking scenes here.
First scene is jaw dropping and proves Ed Stop design abilities. Great demo and instant winner of Assembly 2012
Awesome!
I do like the first scene with the choice of music, violinist, fluidz, but then... dubstep :P. Anyway, nice style with the dancing robotz :)
Nice music, nice opening scene then everything just drags. I really thought after the first 2 minutes this was going to be an epic demo!!
Skrillex stuff in CNCD demos - blackest nightmare just came true lol I hope that in the future they decide to dubstep for adults ones ;)
RULEZ
RULEZ
The first scene looked nice.
Visually - impressive as hell. The music was nice, but seemed somewhat "safe", as does the color choise. Or the lack of same. Still - easily a HUGE thumb up. A coherent and well thought through demo!
Best title-logo-animation ever! And violinist-scene looks awesome.
MOAR ! MOARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR !
First scene alone is worth several thumbs, rest is pretty cool too :)
Loved it. The best Smashtop demo since Agenda. And of course Ercola = instant thumb up :)
I'm not sure about the concept... aside from that, I'm in love with the visuals/esthetics, and the final scene is simply the coolest thing i've ever seen on a screen. Instant cdc.
Did not run here. Win7 - 64bit.
Very high production value, and the opening scene is ace! However the logo and dancer scenes are running for way too long in my opinion.
Really nice music as well!
Really nice music as well!
ANOTHER PHAT THUMB UP
Excellent, although some scenes were a tiny bit to long - it felt like they had to fit the visuals to an existing track. Nevertheless - great stuff.
The new standard. Thank you for finally making dubstep demos legit :)
What Puryx said :)
I really liked the opening scene, but then it felt too long. After that the prod didn't really manage to grab my attention back.
Very stylish and good.
Crashes indeed... but wow! a guru meditation!
The scene is definityl not dead !!! LOVING demo Big up
- horrible music
- 129 mb and DX11 for this?
- boring
- 129 mb and DX11 for this?
- boring
Style.
Dubstep or not, production level is soo high on this. I loved every single second of it.
dubstep - sux, boring scene
Now this was quite awesome. The intro part was a tad too long and felt kinda "detached", imho... yet, the rest totally made up for this. Awesome stuff.
Technically outstanding as always. Aesthetically, however, the contrast between the first and the later scenes ruins it for me. Also, dislike the music, no matter the production values.
Best demo i've ever seen.
Can't stop watching it again and again.
First scene is truly genius.
Direction can't be better since today.

This demo is surely a massive thing.
But this time the right instinct for pace, focus and editing is lacking a bit (the logo scene is ace, but clearly too long for example).
i've really enjoyed the first and the last scene though.

that first scene is so fucking ace. the rest of the scenes seemed less polished as that one and a bit stretched, yet, still very good shit. :)
Love the direction in mainly the first half. The logo effect is so awesome. Didn't like the music in the last half. I really REALLY hope the demoscene doesn't go full derpstep.

I beg to differ. :) If there's one thing they _still_ haven't mastered yet, it's proper pacing and timing (prime example: the second scene with the exploding logo).
I for one liked the fact that it wasn't too ADHD and jumpy. There's more than one way to design and sync a demo.
tomaes, as for me, second scene IS the best example of pacing and timing :)
and one more important thing: i never saw such a close connection between music and visuals before. it's not just a "sync", it's something more deep and complicated.
and one more important thing: i never saw such a close connection between music and visuals before. it's not just a "sync", it's something more deep and complicated.
It's not about more timing events, it's about more effective ones that better connect with the visuals. The length of most scenes is about right, except for that second one.
(eh, should have reloaded first ;))
Only thing J saw from assembly and it owns, so it probs won. CNCD <3
it's kinda weird, but in spite of such a "long" scenes, when i watch each scene, i don't want it to end. so i wouldn't say it's more "long" than it should.
sq, I feel the opposite about that scene. Too long, delayed sync, audio punch not at all conveyed in the visuals. Either this scene needs to be twice as short OR twice as interesting (better, more complex logo; more layers of up-stream particles, more effective synch, background that is not just grey etc.).
Very enjoyable production with high rewatch value for sure :) Massive production, loved it from beginning to the end.
awesome
all the parts are very well done, but don't feel too connected :/ still a great prod.
Excellent direction & design, go go Destop! Destop and Smash, best artist combo evar!
<3
Hoped for more, still great.
The beginning is one of the coolest ever
Beautiful
Feels pretty rushed. The logo part and the perfume-inspired dancers part are pretty neat.
CNCD !
Fuck yes.
works for me!
Doesn't run in Win7 64bits and hd5850, but the prod awesome. Smash rocks!
Yes, the production level is really high. Though I don't like the transitions so much. And the sound also couldn't create a full atmosphere for me. Well done.
first 2 minutes is great, but then comes this shittty skrilex like stuff, all magic gone.I`m dissapointed
Some scenes were a bit too long and also wub-wub-wub-wub-wub, but it still rules.
Also, I think metaballs is a pretty cool guy, eh marching cubes and doesn't afraid of anything.
Also, I think metaballs is a pretty cool guy, eh marching cubes and doesn't afraid of anything.
Way too long and boring scenes - should have exploited some of the scenes with more interesting cam positions/rotations which would have unfolded a lot more of this demos potential - now it's just meh, but for sure good looking!
Like some said, first two minutes were the best imo too but definitely deserves a thumb up.
Jani is the man.
the goosebumpmeter seen it too. colors. sound. ambient. fx. alright.
i think my rig doesnt meet the "high end gpu" part mentioned in the nfo ;(.
anyway, brilliant demo with killer soundtrack as expected from... CNCD without FLT? So Smash is a cncd member now, ok =)
anyway, brilliant demo with killer soundtrack as expected from... CNCD without FLT? So Smash is a cncd member now, ok =)
High production value with some insanely well done looks and shots -- the opening scene is (apart from the too-long violin part) perhaps one of the best I've seen in any demo. I'm torn, because while this looks and feels very well (and very current, designwise), it just goes on for too long. I can't for the life of me understand why the music wasn't cut down by at least a minute. Having had the scenes and transitions on screen for less time would have made the demo really stand out and leave a lasting impression, but it's just too watered down, which is a damn damn shame. I know it's a lot to hope for, but a edit/remix of this, clocking in at around 4 minutes, would be an instant WOW.
Also: people calling the music "Skrillex" should probably just stop commenting on it.
wub wub wub
reading backwards the comments. mentioned. a slight remix with even more pace and sync and details intbetween could really do. just cause... ;)
Ended with a nice "Demolition-FX Client has stopped working" here (At the GURU meditation screen - how fitting). Had to kill it WITH FORCE.
I'll save my thumb for a final.
I'll save my thumb for a final.
The color scheme is a bit too much MTV, and the soundtrack is not my thing, but it's great demo, with superb animations, effects, and near perfect transitions from completely different scenes.
What gloom said
wow, me likes..... hope to see it on any upcoming party on the bigscreen, this really kicks ass.
Really liked the colors in this one. And the rest
the graphics and direction blew me away
seems 8gb ram are needed for this one. with 4gb and a clean os (800mb) this is not enough. can anyone confirm ? I suppose demos using 16gb will be pretty common next year :)
It's almost impossible, but you've made a demo which I do not like. Too long part, totally unfitting music and booooooooring. Probably you'll get dozen more scene.org awards for this one, but it's still not my cup of tea :/
@Tigrou: I've run this fine on my Desktop PC with only 4GB on Windows 7.
Really great presentation, the opening scene with the road rolling and warping in and the box is great. The animation of the violinist playing doesn't look natural at all to me but I guess it's more about style than accuracy.
I see what everyone is saying about the pace but when I was watching it on the stream I didn't want it to end.
I see what everyone is saying about the pace but when I was watching it on the stream I didn't want it to end.
Oh also it doesn't run at all here (says "loading" forever) on Win7 x64 but I only have a midrange card (5870). I have 8gb of RAM and everything. Would have expected at least the music to start. Probably time to upgrade my GPU eh?
"Demolition-FX Client has stopped working" for me 2 sec. after "loading" screen. Still nice prod from stream.
Nice
@smash: from your seminar I expected more "spacecutting" - maybe your technique didn't work here properly. I mainly saw a "stripe overlay" everywhere - were the non white parts to be cut out? (Same for the youtube video).
Professional level of "stylish" in both visuals and audio.
Some scenes run a bit slow on my GTX560 though, and (somewhat ironically) the program locks up after the guru meditation...

Yes!
It's surprising, but I completely share the same opinion as Gloom! :)
*BWOOOOOOOONG*
Yeah this is really again just on a whole another level as far as production levels go. Design-wise there are few demos on this level. I share most of my criticism with gloom. During the compo I kept thinking each of these scenes could've been a third or a fourth shorter, but after seeing this couple times after it's not that bad. I also agree with the second sentiment; sure, this is brostep, but it has class and is more than just a pop-edm track.
very good indeed.
Well-produced and very slick. But I felt like the scenes dragged on for too long, and I also didn't care much for the music => piggie it is.
High quality
just great.
Bored me to death. And since the music is annoying too the thumb goes down.
Have to agree about the scenes going for too long, but this is top quality throughout. Even the brostep is bearable :)
During the compo I thought the scenes went on for too long, but on second and third viewings, I don't mind. I quite like the pacing, and no, maybe there isn't a totally stringent red thread through the demo, but compared to many other demos, it's pretty damn good :) I like this a lot more than frameranger, tbh!
Best designed demo of the compo, no doubt about that. Looks great and has some neat scenes. But best demo.. I dont' know.
Anyway, this is a great prod that shows how much you can do with design, when you take it seriously. Loved it.

nice effects :)
Best compo entry.
Top notch work as always :) Especially the first scene, which is fucking brilliant.
great rendering, great visuals, great design.
soundtrack is just one more dullstep track, nothing really particular, it's full of wee and waaa, amazing technic for sure, like a bunch of twats could do but heyyyyyyy, apart from my own two cents about it, it's still a very good demo that must have involved a lot of work.
so hey, honest thumb up :)

What gloom said, and i also felt that the guru meditation ending was an unnecessary novelty.
But still, this is really, really good.
But still, this is really, really good.
Hmm.. I liked the last scene more than the first, seems a fair few liked it the other way round. I liked the idea of the first part more, but the last bit was better executed. Besides, the middle part was best.
Agree it was a bit too long though, or perhaps it needed an extra effect or two in there to give it a little more variation.
But hey, they're minor complaints, and this is a fucking awesome demo! Fantastic work guys :D

Pointless, boring and tasteless. Still nice effects in the logo part though.
Boo, it needs d3d11.dll since I am still in Windows XP Pro. SP3 with DirectX 9.0c and an ATI Radeon 4870 video card (512 MB; PCIe). :(
Anyways, I watched YouTube video and it was OK.

so upgrade your PoS windows XP man :) running 11 year old OS'es.. that's just in poor taste.
hmm. no, wait a minute...
hmm. no, wait a minute...
Amazing first scene, rest was OK
This is not terrible.
Assembly entries have pointless references like that for years on end. But hey, it's not a bouncing ball for a change.

Awesome effects combined with shitty music but it definitely deserves dumb up.

yeah, it's really strange that gloom didn't said anything about that "shameless (and oh-so-overdone) Amiga-pandering".
The stream didn't do justice to this, but still the soundtrack starts to go down at 2:00. Starting from there the demo goes from great to so-so (IMHO). Piggy.
That 2nd scene.
what gloom and lug00ber said, +I really wanted to see that violonist start playing for real.
Also sync was off on youtube (shame that doesn't run on dx9).
Still, ace prod with awesome graphics/design and top notch prod value al the way.

extreme dislike for the music
All parts are awesome! The glitching triangles rock. So much coolness in this design that the coolcup is overflowing.
Kyykkyviulu nauratti.
And what's up with the critisism on the music, not a bad tune at all.
And what's up with the critisism on the music, not a bad tune at all.
I dont get it... it's BORING... the BORESTEP does it's best.
Just watched again, superb.. I wouldn't change any parts at all, I felt it was perfect. The haters just have a lack of knowledge of 1) The tech involved 2) Art in general 3) Music, I mean to pigeon hole any dubstep track into Skrillex'y shit is just ignorant. Muchos Love to the true artists of the demo scene. <3 <3
Neat style :)
Assuming all data is generated realtime using a clever algo&idea (violin threads, logo dismantling, bodyMesh poly Noisy fugue).
The way how the violin player smoothly approaches. Overall hipnotizing composition.
Then, finally, when this questions : "How that dancing body animation data is stored? is really stored? Has been recorded? or by hand?" come to my mind, I realize i'm wathcing a masterpiece demo.

downloading to really check that "spacecut" logo breaking fracture are diferent in each execution. :p I'm Evil, really.
It's alright, but not something I'd really put on to watch again.
Maybe I'll change my mind a few weeks down the line.
Maybe I'll change my mind a few weeks down the line.
not for me
big MTV design
Also not for me
I didn't feel any part was too long or left on screen too long - I think each part remained interesting enough to keep my attention, and I particularly enjoyed that I wasn't able to tell what was going on.
The music didn't do it for me, I don't enjoy the genre although the track didn't get on my nerves which I guess it's cool. Don't look forward to hearing it over and over though, which I know I will...
I'm not sure WHY this left me cold a bit, but I'll give it a few more spins to figure out. Regardless, 99% of the commenters above would wish they could make something like this.

Nice indeed.
CNCD-28: the more popular demo
Instant classic, but .. too much wubwubwubsteb and the impact would've been greater if this had been shorter. Neverthless, the overall design is superb, and that's what counts this time.
Some poor use of dubstep here. But some really great scenes saves the day.
Holy crapsicle - best demo I've seen since Stargazer
wow.
agree with Steel. love every second of this demo
After a few rewatches at home, my comment about the too-long scenes still stand firmly planted in reality IMHO. Especially the second text-effect seems almost like a filler, plus the violinist remains on screen for at least 15-20 seconds too long. However, it does feel a lot more coherent when viewed at home.
What really bugs me now is how on EARTH it manages to drop frames with a GTX 690(!). THAT is bewildering :)

nice
nice demo worked with my GTX 560 even if it was kinda slow in some parts
dominating
This is a nice demo. My thumb can't go anywhere but up. Some really excellent effects here, but at the same time there are a lot of things that bug me.
First, I feel that there is too little content occupying a vast amount of time which destroys any kind of flow. The demo was not rolling and after a while I felt disconnected with it. The introductory scene (even if I personally find it to be a bit static, as I would prefer more camera angles to the violinist) sets up the mood for something with more context and something grandiose but the next scenes (even if technically awesome) fail to deliver.
I really cannot align myself with the people who praise the direction for this demo. Personally I think that it's severely lacking in the direction department. The transitions were nearly non existent (expect for the exceptional "metaball" to "tunnel" one)
The music was really well produced, but it's nothing I'd put on to listen a second time (and yes, contrary to popular belief, I do like dubstep). It was really awesome up to the logo part. After that it was actually annoying my ears.
Finally I can't get my head past the fact that this is 130mb big. Unless the soundtrack is uncompressed wav at 96kHz I really don't see how this ended up being 130mb big.

by removing the music, the demo could have done 64k .....
Art Direction ugly!! , Effects of an incredible variety .......
Finally a big disappointment for winning a demo ...

The music is strange and anoying. The visuals are glitchy and boring. And the filesize is a joke.
I kindof liked the particles coming from the violin at the beginning, but other than that... absolutely crap. As pretty much always in assembly, the 3rd demo deserved to win.

the filesize is huge because there's 76mb worth of 320kbps mp3 audio, or 84mb if you include the fft data. this includes: the master that you hear, an earlier/alternate cut of the soundtrack, and 4 stems used for the fft data.
Good Stuff!!! Liked the dancing.. And tune is nice.
Spacecut stands head and shoulders above the rest of the competition. There is not much to criticize:
* The 4 vignettes could have been linked together: well, they're not, it not the first or the last demo we see without transitions. It's ok, of course a tighter demo would elevate this to stratospheric levels (more like agenda)
* Filesize: don't make me laugh, this is completely irrelevant.
* Effects: very interesting, I still don't get the spacecut effect - maybe somebody care to explain? I know that there is some sort of CSG with geometry (?) to fill the holes with a cap, but I can't see it. Wouldn't you get the same effect by painting the backward facing triangles with a fixed color? (I hope I'm making sense).
* Dancing guy: great, I wish there were two of them kind of competing. Reminds me a lot of previous fr+cncd demos, going back to a 64k from 2005 or so.
* Is the direction brilliant or not?: rather just well done. I believe you could have done more with the content, without making it look too similar to myriads of vimeo stuff. On the other hand, what is there already is very detailed with a ( I believe) good sense of timing.
* Music is growing on me, I'm not an expert in dubstep or whatever it's called, but it's fit for purpose.

by the way, I still don't get how this demo only managed to win over the second placed demo (which is, ehm, rather second rate derivative) by a couple of hundred votes. I just don't get it. The moral of the story is: throw in bloom, coder colors and electric guitars and they'll vote for anything :-)).
Navis: I think it's some kind of stencil buffer trick. At least that would be obvious. If not, kudos for the effort. I'm also interested if the objects were prefractured or not.
i think the soundtrack is very nice and i like the glitches and everything but hm, it's dragging too long. Visual quality is outstanding (i simply think everything destop touches becomes instant gold) but it got boring after a while.
piggy from me.

Probably the first piggy i give to these people, but mixing very good ideas with very bad presentation boils down to average here. I acknowledge that it's probably impressive with the music alone played on a beefed-up PA.
bad presentation? maybe not quite up to Agenda Circling Forth standard, but I thought it was presented/refined very well.
eye/earcandy. but gloom is right, some parts are too long. it rules nevertheless!!
I'm on the 130mb wtf bandwagon. That's a LOT of data. While Spacecut is undeniably great, I don't really see where the 130mb of data went: are all the particles and animations/cuts precalc'ed or what ?
Navis: Check Smash's seminar at Assembly this year. He explained how the space cut effect is done in fragment shader.

Would have rocked if stopped after the violin player. Later it gets beyond repetitive tho

this is the top notch motion graphics show.
as a demo, i really don't understand why it takes 128megs and requires dx11. why are there EG 3 different mp3s? do we need to search for a hidden part or something?

what aMUSIC says
Extremely good stuff! But as Gloom said, it should have been a bit shorter for the ultimate wow.

Also wtf people, it's 2012, 120 mb is literally nothing!
Only people with really small dicks would complain about the size :-)
Quality shit
if destop did all the color- and 3d-modelling work by himself, he really deserves alot of credit for it! i think i heard that that was because you used the CNCD label on this one. And i really understand that! I think it may be universal that many people feel that they doesnt get enough credit for their work.
apart from that, i think this is one of the best demos from CNCD since Inside (released @ TG96). also personally i think this demo is a tad better than numb res (as a wholeness). Here's my thumb.

Pretty nice IMO; decent mixing on the music.
Loved it! Very strong artwork and direction. Graphic shapes combined with particles... Monochrome with finely dosed color... Lot of style and powerful at the same time.
Just fucking awesome.
Fresh, good stuff.
Quality!
Visually a bit simplistic on the surface, but with a lot of details you don't at first notice, and nice effects. Good direction, okay music (even if I disagree a bit on the choice of genre).
the beginning was too slow, music fits good in the 3/4 end.
piggy.
piggy.
Yeah! Just stunning...! The kings of the demoscene. Hats off.
Deserves a rulez for being something different. Also I like the visual style. Music, not so much.

I liked this demo alot, but the music was very outdated and boring. Also it's a bit of a killer. But still, congratulations for a nice eyecandy production :)
Great
Spacy! love the static mood and the AV blending.
And I dont LOL much nowdays, but man did I LOL at the end. but no thanks for some nasty flashbacks...

That was fantastic. I need a cigarette.
Expected a gigantic demo experience based on the fantastic beginning with scene having man coming out of the box and playing violin.
It somehow became a bit flat and had a stretched feeling, especially on the second minute long spacecut/cncd text explosions to pyramids scene (still, this scene and playin with it was very superb cool).
Despite of this a bit unfinished feeling (and what I am to say about this anyway :D), the demo is very good and just have to congratulate you guys for this!
So congrats and hope to see you back next year with even more solid demo experience!

nice but quite heavy, i couldn't get enjoyable framerate on gtx460
Amazing!
as most demos after watching a few times, this is growing on me. the tunnel-head-thing still feels a bit disconnected, though.
I was amazed when I suddenly figured out that violinist gained its size, but I missed when and how it happened!
pure awesomeness..
Not much else to say here. You might dislike Spacecut as a whole, but it undeniably has got ideas, tech, style.
I liked a lot this one. Amazing stuff there... like fresh air!
Wow!
This demo stands such quality (and definitely gets a credits
from larger audience) that we can just bow to the mastery
and respect the creation as it is and keep the analysis of
'what could be done better' for our prods and respect the artists.
there is probably a reason behind for most of it.
music is perfect and i dont care specially which sort of
quality idm or electronic music it is. parts got imho actually
good timing that even watching for more times you can spot
certain suble details plus have time to get into your own thoughts
while watching it and that's great. like there is no such thing as lack
of transitions as these slithly spottable plays with "light
reflections" on the top of everything works great. and grey
background in such meant detail and they fits just perfectly and
don't distort in fact minimal aspect of the demo. also i guess it's true
mastery to create stunning demo with 6 parts designed to the max.
this piece stands for best example of modern digital real-time
art/entartenment and even the perfect description of the demo-scene
as "digital graffity" counts in Spacecut even literally..
sort of complex way to say 'i like it' :)

Somewhat different from the last demos by the same people (less tech porn, for one, although once Smash writes a blog piece about it I guess there will be lots of magic behind the scenes that I've missed. :-) ). I like it nevertheless, though; the dancer in particular is cool.
i agree and also disagree with much of what people said. but the true is, this demo is VERY awesome. <3
Nice
lame dubstep, boring content but great technology. disznósos
Great technic and effects, but some scenes and effects are a little bit too long. But anyway a great demo.
Ok, really, that seriously rocks.
rocks hard, my favourite prod of 2012! (till now)
Dubstep stuff, very cheesy. Technically as usual ;).
where was my thumb?
.
!
For some reason, this reminded me of another demo by Destop - which is a good thing. :)
Technically impressive but feels soulless, and the choice of music contributes well to this feeling. The scenes and effects are cool on their own, but when put together they fail to flow well for me. (And that delayed sync in the 2nd scene, ack!) Also, a realtime demo actually being larger than its high-resolution video capture is, like, "what."
So I'll give this thumb for the first scene and the best robot choreography seen to date. :P
hahahah

CNCD-28: the more popular demo

A winner :).
thanks anni!
But the capture feels laggy... maybe it's on my side.
The sync is much much better anyway!

Typical smash/destop production.
Recycled loysy coding that needs monster
PC to run.

130 MB and boring as hell!
Well, this is for sure a good demo but while the first scene took me up and made me expect something great, I felt a bit disappointed on how the demo ended up...
The opening scene is absolutely brilliant!
The rest, while carefully crafted, looked soulless to me. I would love to see better transitions and more connection between scenes, because it really looks like you've merged multiple demos in one. Also, some scenes are a bit too long.
Of course, there's the usual Fai... CNCD quality, so I really enjoyed watching it.

something different for a change.. navis your turn now ;)
While the wubs aren't completely terrible, the intro sounds amazing. More of that! Integration of strings into demo was pretty spectacular too.
So far this looks pretty good, even though IMO it has too few scenes. Could somebody please make a good 1080p or 720p video of this, as the quality is lost in the YouTube version.
Very cool. Worthy winner
Cool opening and nice visual variations. Esp. the logo part lack musical variations though.
Candidate for most ruling direction and concept, but could have been better. The beginning promised more...
between boring and superawesomeyeahyeah.
Boring...
Rules as it usually does when Smash and Destop are doing their shit! I think the music worked really great together with the visuals!
I don't like the visuals, I hate the music, and it's boring. It might be impressive on a technical scale, but it just doesn't do it for me.
hahaha, awesome
good
Well, it has some interesting ideas used in surprising way!
I *adore* the visuals and as always technically it looks solid (though it doesn't have a wow effect on me like some of Smash' earlier work)
yes
thumb for the colours, lovely! rest is ok.
Interesting and fresh effects, hope to see more like it in the future. Though, I wonder about the extreme letterboxing.
nice
kewl demo
Typical smash stuff. You will need monster pc to run he's demos.
Smash, can you code basic blenk without quad core for god sake...

Great style
Crashed on Retina Mac running the latest version of Windows 8 with latest drivers. Everything starts as normal, the guy is unfolded from the cube.. but when he starts playing the violin and the particles is supposed start flowing it just send me back to the desktop. I guess there is a Compute Shader starting there and the GPU disagrees with something :)
yes
Worked flawless with the new 306.23 nVidia drivers :)
Whoa.
no, not for me, only the music feels good and effects are too pretentious.
130Mo for that shit it's nonsense.
quite awesome!
Liked the effects, though it tends to be a bit repetitive on the "spacecut" logo.
I first saw this during Evoke'12, when it was shown on the bigscreen. My first thought was "late animation entry?", only to feel my jaw drop when I read the credits in the end and realized it's a demo.
I share the mixed feelings about the dubstep and the length of some scenes, but they had me at the first scene and never let go of me afterwards.

Hmm. Trying to run this on Win 7 64 and nvidia 630M GPU, but it will only let me select the integrated Intel HD 4000 GPU to run the demo with, even though I start the .exe using the "Run with GPU -> High Performance Nvidia GPU" thing. The GPU selector in the demo menu still only shows the Intel one and nothing else. Anyone know what's up? Previous CNCD demos seemed to find the Nvidia card just fine.
Not that the 630M is top of the line or anything, but surely it'll be better than the HD 4000? :P

Awesome. :)
now i understand why gpu's suck
the setup dialog doesn´t seem to have any effect on the display mode used
besides, apart from the sync the demo is quite boring

the fuck...
Cool demo, but I'm so tired of dubstep in demos after all these years. 1st rule of originality: Don't use dubstep.
By far one of my favourites! ♥
Perfect.
Very cool.
I watch it over and over again...
to see the "person" dancing, hearing the sound, seeing the black and white...

When this came out, I didn't get the mood everyone else did - and didn't feeel like it's a good demo at all. Besides the first scene, and the demolition of the logos it just didn't click with me back then. So I thought, I just wait it out.
Now, almost a year later, I like it - the first scene is just a masterpiece of showing subtle camera movements. The exploding and sliced up logos reveal palettes that make me scream like a school girl, and I'm happy to see the 2D bars over the cuts from MediaError again.
It's darn slick, and sure it could be a MTV bumper, but for me this is a good thing - I'm quite sure, this is now one of the demos I'll still like in ten years from now, even though the brostep will make me propably giggle :)

I find this to be overrated demo. Visually pleasing at times, but mostly it was too harsh and the music was frankly to be unmotivating.
Held back my opinion of this one for a while. Didn't particularly take to it after the first viewing, but it is deceitfully detailed, which is something that I have since come to love about it. Excellent demo, beautiful direction and art.
Love this to bits.
good, but too pop
I'd love to watch this, but it won't start on my PC. Is there a cap where the syncs sync? (If they do on a real PC, that is.) Cos the two on Youtube don't.
awesome !!
I can't count how often I watched this one... Dawn, this is some impressive piece of a demo.
The intro music looks like if it has nothing to do with the first scene images (violin).
Variations of/about the "Spacecut" logo during one minute with the BOOOM BOOM bOOM music...?... F*cking booooriing (apart when you are under the drugs may be)...... Yeah..boom, boom, boom.... Boom, boom, boom...
So...Fast GPU needed. I do not regret regret to have one, "sorry" (no I am not..)...
Overrated... CNCD dudes, better demo next time. Since this time ei, ei, ei....
Kiitos!

Quality visuals and brilliant sync - great music as well!
Probably the best opening scene I have encountered.
Great!!!
This was really dope!
For the first scene, at least. That's gold.
so awesome demo!
The opening scene still gives me goosebumps every time I watch it, and I love the rest of the demo to pieces as well. Brilliant in almost all aspects.
CNCD
i liked many parts of it and the exploding letters look pro
it needs d3dcompiler_43.dll
This would've been interesting in 64k. Very underwhelming for a 130 MB demo - a lot of repetitive and basic visuals. The art is good, but the technical part is only average.
I know there are talented people behind this. But i dont see a traditional demo here. its just bad. here take a thumb down again.
One of my favorite shows, especially thanks to the music.
GOODNESS
♥
Wait, I never commented on this? Can't believe it's already almost 10 years old. Still feels fresh and the soundtrack grew on me over the last year's so much.
the start and end were cool, but the middle brostep and dancing parts were kinda cringe.
the wub is strong in this demo
