Unfortunately, at the compo there was a constant white noise during the demo, that was generated by a microphone left turned on somewhere in the room. Bummer.

the concept was smart, guess they're reusing a game engine. but the implementation grew boring.

Yep, we did, read nfo for additionals. Source is released too.

Thumbs for going to a party for the first time, with a demo! :) Sad to hear about the noise, but from the front rows it wasn't that bad.

The only real bad thing was the length. The demo's way too long, and except the center "screen" contents, it lacks variation. So it gets boring pretty fast.
But the rickroll part was okay :)

And next time please avoid self-thumbing ;)

Very funny, laughed a lot :)

Thx :)
I have to submit to the criticism it's long, and becomes boring. There was just soo much we wanted to show - either the music, or some special effect. Normally these things aren't possible ingame, because they generate too much noise to network to the clients, and'd put too much stress on the server, making it lagging to hell :D In that regard, DP is a very dumb engine.
Self-thumb was by accident, I didn't know I can comment without rating. In case any mod can remove it, please do so, thx!

Hated it very much on the compo, now after reading NFO file you have my thumb.

Rule of thumb: if something isn't self-explanatory, it needs to be explained. This was most definitely NOT self-explanatory during the compo, and I hated it, sorry. The NFO-file doesn't make it any better either, sorry again.

Props for the idea I suppose, but other than that, what gloom said.

i appreciated the idea but it obviously went on way too long.

Boredom at its best. And playing around with existing pieces of code does not make it a demo.

I cried and laughed at the same time.

First I was like: "Uhm." Then I was like: "WTF!" In the end I was like: "LOL!"

Was bored by this regardless of the white noise, and that fucking rick astley track put me over from bored to "oh, ffs...".
Sorry.

The painful noise in the compo hall appeared to be synced to the visuals, so we were convinced that it was by design like in Variform 2. Well seems it wasn't, so no thumb down for me

What Gargaj said. It really overstayed its welcome, especially since during the stream it was impossible to make out what it actually was (this is of course my own fault for being a sofascener...)

It would have been cute if it was just one tune. But it wasn't. At all.

One of the weirdest things this year. Also a firstie. I especially liked the multiple WTF moments, amplified by the microphone noise :)

Thank you for all the input guys, really appreciated! It seems this thing turned out one of the most dividing demo at the compo.
While at the party I blamed the mic for the (mostly) negative response, I see now where we failed the most with the prod:
First of all, we failed to deliver the message what this is, and why it is (imho) awesome. Namely the idea that a simple bot AI that is normally programmed to "kill things" can produce music if scripted in the correct way. We should have made a few seconds of introductory scene, so the audiece gets the idea. On the other hand, the stage itself has some real WTF and brilliant solutions too, in case anybody is interested, here's a screenshot how it looks like in the editor (warning: major entity mess!):
The stage (picasa link)
Second, less should have been more, with only 3-4 tracks. It was just so tempting to show all the stuff we can do, that while we certainly had fun creating the prod, we didn't realise it'll become boring for the audience.
Lessons learned well, it was a good experince. Thx all again!

lol, good old radiant. I used that one a lot during my modding days for "Elite Force". :o)

I liked the 3D Mario and Angry Birds animations on the virtual big screen, but the general novelty of the whole setup vanished after the first few minutes - and the long running time didn't help. I could reiterate most of the critics before me.

way too lengthy, and the omnipresent shooting(?) sounds killed it
Interesting platform, though, and thanks for the background info!
