actually there might be something wrong with the release pakage at scene.org since theres just two .obj files in it? (or I am just too stupid to handle lisa emu)

+ for the platform, + for the concept, ++ for turning a DTP machine into a demo platform :D. I can't see why this wasn't in the oldschool competition though :)

Nice platform, but the effects are abysmal, your last demo on the Vectrex was better.
I just saw this on the stream very briefly but didn't quite get if ALL the visuals/audio are generated from a Lisa, or if it is kind of a "wild/anim" demo that leads up to the last part which is an actual Lisa demo?

I don't know about the platform, so can't comment on that, but rick rolling was a bit lame :) So a piggie

Well, it's just an animation for the most part, but kudos for using an obscure platform and for making the custom hardware.

Some good code here I've been told but as a demo this just doesn't work. Lots of lame stuff, particularly the rick roll (2007 again?). Music was pretty nice though at times.

yeah, no idea what to think of this ;)
All the visuals are generated from a mostly stock Lisa 2 with 1MB of RAM. The audio is generated by a sound card we designed that roughly approximates a Sound Blaster Pro 2 (Yamaha OPL3 + PCM DAC). The sound card plugs into the Lisa's add-in bus and is controlled completely by the Lisa. It does have RAM for storing samples, but the samples are in our demo data and are loaded into RAM by the Lisa's CPU. It was entered as a wild because this year asm had a very strict list of platforms that could be entered as oldschool (C64, Amiga 500, Amstrad CPC, ZX, etc.) with very specific requirements. The Lisa is definitely an oldschool machine, but since we're the only ones crazy enough to write demos for it, it didn't make the list of platforms... As for the release package at scene.org, you have to get those files onto the Lisa/emulator's hard disk somehow. We'll be releasing floppy images when we can figure out how to produce them - our current solution for loading the larger of the 2 .obj files involves some code we wrote manually stuffing the data into the CF card that our IDEfile (ProFile replacement designed by a guy from Germany) uses as a hard drive. I'll admit that this isn't a stunning demo with 3D effects and tons of color, etc. but I'll also assure you that writing a demo for a Lisa is not an easy task.

I like it. Please make more demos on obscure stuff!

Great stuff, and props for designing your own add-on hardware!

coda also published an article on how he wrote the soundtrack for the custom hardware: http://coda.s3m.us/2012/08/06/creation-of-the-ilisa-demo-soundtrack/
@lroop, on the oldschool platform, I see. I didn't know how strict were the ASM rules. How about we see you on CPC for your next prod, then? It's not an overly exploited platform yet and is kind of "hot" in the scene these days =D
