Great! Although it's completely based on the Animusic series, it's very well done! And in 64k :)

64k is back!
Rendering and content is not as impressive as in Gaia Machina, but the direction is a lot better - I'd have a hard time choosing between the two for best of the compo.

Impressive amount of content. I especially liked the music-box with all the little pins sync'ed to the music. And I completely agree with xylo. It was genious to have the woodden doll flip the drumstick - it's those extra things, that shows what a massive amount of work was put into making it. Congratulations, guys!

Youtube HD 1080p and this is how it should look.
xcom's capture is too dark. On the big screen, there was some minor problems (problem on the text). I hope we'll address these issues in a final version. Thanks for all the comments!

Visuals are a little bit "cold" for my taste, but ideas, atmosphere, and scenario are very original and well thinked. Same comment than for Gaia Machnia: refreshing!

also, the music felt too digital for the toy syncs it had.

Good stuff. And yet, the visuals could use an edge or two, models and textures look "good enough", but not quite as good as they could be. Also, most of the surfaces are shadow-less which might add to the visual "flatness" and the impression that many objects seem to float around instead stand on the table (2nd scene).

some nice ideas and pretty good sync, but overall picture quality and atmosphere are not there. like how it turned out to be a fly-by over slightly animated geometry that we've already seen in the first minute.

I really, really liked this. There are a lot of ways to do retro-cool. This way was to make a 64k intro that looks like a classic Pixar short movie / showreel -- except about 100 times more charming. Love it!

(Haven't seen animusic.)

I think this is BRILLIANT. The direction and storytelling is really great, and I love the way the train has to anticipate the music. Makes it seem like a very thoughtful train.

It's difficult to do realistic rendering, and I admire your efforts. Stick some good AO in next time :-)

Wow, thanks all for the kind words! We are slowly recovering from Revision, and may get back at it... well, sometime. :) There are a couple of bugs left (broken text rendering on the compo machine, dark rendering in xcom's capture - would you mind telling your setup?) so we'll have a look at it. Many said the rendering was lacking; I still don't really get what is the core issue, but if I manage to get it I might consider enhancing it for a final version, assuming it doesn't require a full rewrite of the pipeline of course.

@rez, moozoo, boyC, djh0ffman: thank you guys, these kinds of comments are much appreciated!

@xyz, abductee: the only prod I can think of that used books for credits is Point Blank, but it seemed to be rushed unfortunately. Here, we had a bookshelf, so using it seemed like an opportunity not to be missed for not intrusive greetings.

@MissCtrl: I'm speechless at your comment.

@Approximate team: thank you guys, it was a great time competing with you; well deserved 1st place. :)

Last but not least, thanks a lot to all who compared this to Pixar stuff and Spot by Exceed, it means a lot.

Very nice!
It looks like metalic objects are shaded by anisotropic lighting.
Woods are rendered with physically based shading?
I think more shadows and indirect lights will make more realistic scene.
