+ pure-demoscene articles this time.
- adok's short-sighted raytracing/marching article
Makes a thumb this time. Well done!

Very nice, interesting articles, really awesome music, graphics side is okayish.
Good work from the Hugi team.
Nice release. Great content!
well done
i had to stop reading after these two brilliant remarks in the editorial:
"Fairlight demos are usually very interesting from a technical point of view, showing novel rendering techniques not seen before and all kinds of stuff that seems difficult to program. So these demos are more for a technical audience that is has [sic] enough knowledge to appreciate the skills that went into these productions."
"While ASD and Fairlight are coder-centered groups in which the programmer is the main person and everything revolves around him, Farbrausch is different because their main coder Chaos developed the Werkkzeug tool which enables graphics artists to develop their own demos without entering a single code line."
:D

just reading... ubargay music, suits well fo a zine... gui is as kitchy as demoscene can deliver. good engine, some shallow articles but big thumb up anyway.
reed : THEY just know it better than us :)
Hugi!
Excellent tunes (and lots of them), proper gfx and quite a bunch of interesting text (party preport is the new report?;).

haha
Honestly reed, I was just about to download this then I read your post. Now I feel like crying.
I'll give it a rulez after spending some time with the mag. It's easy to pick some weak spots. But the presentation is great, esp. the music. And I also just read an interesting article. Thanks for still doing a "diskmag" in 2012.
Nice
Wow, what a great stuff!
finally
quality indeed
pfft. i'll thumb this down due to adoks homework essay on computing convex hulls.
for the effort and keeping diskmags alive!
fuckings to claus-dieter...
Nice
It is actually quite an enjoyable read. I liked the extensive cpc review by optimus, the kinect article and the convex hull algorithm.
Great graphics during the intro too. Is that hairy man at the end magic? :-)

we've seen so much worse things...
some good articles and interviews, nice gfx and presentation, and good accompanying music as well.
the hugi diskmag formula may be a bit stale by now, but as long as you get the content sorted it still works :)

p. good april's fools joke! I laughed! ^_^
nice to see such effort invested into a PC diskmag these days

Pretty good effort despite very little support and nice presentation to boot.
Everything turned up pretty awesome Magic.
two thumbs up
two thumbs up
Nice graphics, music and some interesting articles.
Really nice - great music tracks and interesting texts till now (just went through the headline section yet)
SAUBER!
Just wanted to emphasize again that the music is really great - been listening to it while working.
Only one complaint: I have no (obvious) way of telling which track is currently playing. Therefore I would like to propose adding a "currently playing" indicator somewhere in the music menu. Thanks.

scena rulez:) Nice!
2012 and still quality diskmag ! Music awesome.
Great read and lovely gfx and music tracks by fellow musicians. Big thanks for letting me take part in the release, Magic.
@noname: I agree, an "now playing" indicator would be nice. Cheers!

I really wish the Hugi team would consider making music disks and slideshows because they always managed to get some of the most impressive artworks and music contributions in the scene.
I guess I'm just too detached/disinterested in the scene now to care for the articles, but clearly a lot of work, research and chasing down old sceners has been involved.

nice
Cool diskmag, excellent musics and nice articles.
and forgot the nice graphics too :)
You know a diskmag has been delayed when you're surprised to see your name on the contributors page, because you forgot that you wrote something. :) (Blockparty 2010 report, it turns out)
If you browse Pouet for Windows diskmags, you'll see this is the first serious one in two years (the last Hugi and Zine were released in 2010). So, as long as it's usable and the articles don't stink, it's a win. But thankfully, we also get a good collection of music and artwork (for those like Wade who don't care about the articles, think of this as a music/gfx collection that happens to have some text with it :). The fonts and interface could use some updating, though. Be sure to check out the MindCandy 3 review/interview, plug plug.

wow....HUGI!
some russian readers here!! yes....news posted at www.demoscene.ru
Thanks!
I have seen all articles! yeah....it was a very superb trip into demospirit atmoshere! yeahh....Very-very superb design, good texts...superb professional music and gfx....yeah...wow....Thank you ADOK for 37 issue!
It's a great release with fine graphics, sounds and many texts.
I understand the motivation for including as many articles as possible but please don't repeat mistakes such as using that ray marching tutorial. It really gave nothing away, it comes with no source code and everybody hated it on pouet already :)
Personally, I'm in it for the party reports and all stuff social. All those interviews and anecdotes will stay interesting years from now while technical issues come and go.

so in the hugi spectrum only asd, fairlight, and farbrausch are worth to pass its standars?
here it goes,

That's always how we think about Hugi. The only difference is usually if that text is both stupid and racist, or just stupid. This time it was the latter.for those like Wade who don't care about the articles, think of this as a music/gfx collection that happens to have some text with it
i don't know. piggie.
Thanks for the new issue, Adok :) Outstanding articles as always.
Interestingly enough, for those happening to view the mag on a Mac the shell works quite well using Wine, so could also in theory work under Linux as well.

Well there's nothing horrible about it but the layout is old (and tedious), the resolution is old, the engine is old, and the articles are really old, both style and content-wise.
nice!
Good work!
cool:D thanks!
nice musics in this one!
Gut.
Good work boys =)
Good work, great content!
Abnominio!!!!!
some links are outdated. for example, take a look at 256b.com:

Very good.
Nice Design, Fine Music, good old diskmag atmosphere... What more to say? Good to see another issue and thanks for your work you invent in this project.... It is not easy these days to release a mag... Some might say it is outdated, but mags are part of demoscene history! Word
Read the Panda Cube and Revision Warmup articles, was good. Agree diskmag gfx look a bit dated. More interviews, dirty jokes and um charts if you can think out a strat for making people vote on'em!
on second thought, whining is not a sign of progress, so thumb up for keeping the spirit alive! ;)
Haha, some intended and some unintended funny stuff inside this issue. Thumbs up for Romeo Knight and for Adok's party reports :D
hugi diskmag in 2012, still surviving :)
Oh, and is it possible to get the songs alone (mp3 or ogg)?
Thumb up for all the other authors and another one for the supporting artists!
TADA!
@xtr1m:
was that an intended pun?

Oups
I'm being forced by Magic to do this too.
Just awesome reading diskmags in 2012 (not just doing this because Magic asked me to. Reallly :-))
great mag, thanks for that, read it all at revision. can't wait for new issue, YOU HEAR?
Very nice graphics and music. Sadly the content is still completely shallow, outdated and thanks to the old engine tedious to read, the one or other nice article notwithstanding.
great musixx, nice diskmag style... some kind of scroller or an old skool demo effect in the beginning would have been nice though..
This is really really great! And I think more people should comment on their appreciated thumbs up!
As being part of a relative new demogroup in the demoscene this is really interesting and I really enjoy the articles to find an update about the current "status".
Very interesting to read the Pandacube "creation" article and compare how they work and how we work.
As a musician I ofcourse also really enjoy the choice of music used in this mag.
I totally understand the hard work behind this mag but just want to say that in a "perfect world" I really could enjoy more of this and if I could decide more frequently like 3-4 times per year.
Please keep up the good work!
And in short. "it rulez"
Best regards
Dylte / Jolt

The best diskmag of 2012
Hey AROS support, cool.
I haven't read it, but magic's "marketing" is fucking annoying.
Yeah I was thinking exactly the same as psonice. Not to mention the quality and visual appeal overall.
psonice,
Damn, haven't drilled your ass, but marketing it "is fucking annoying".

nice mag - i see no reason to thumb it down (besides the usual prejudices)
Exactly what Kebby said.
what psonice said.
One thumb for the Desire article. Admittedly, I have not yet read anything else in this issue. :$
Diskmags are bloody important and should be supported, but also what psonice said.. On balance, a thumb
This absolutely brings me back to the old times.
uh... but why talking about old times anyway? It is here and now. Absolutely delicious music selection, great collection of well written articles (do I have to mention Macno's outstanding writing talent making a comeback with a new Abnominio after years?).
Awesome issue!

I have been following this publication closely over the past few years and despite the delay between the most recent issue and the previous one, I am rather impressed with the content and overall package in Hugi #37.
I know better than most the difficulties of putting together a scene disk magazine, so these words I write are as genuine as they come.
The layout and music selection is top notch, a very fluid system that allows easy navigation. The text – yes, the most important part, great balance of subject matter – covering the demoscene quite nicely; I can only ask if editors write longer and more detailed chapters, this is better for me personally as 1-2 pagers just don’t do it for me. The weakest point of the text I feel is the News section. To me, the News chapter provides an opportunity to the editor to really capture the overall health levels of the scene, it also can provide exclusive gossip and lastly, it can preserve/document what is happening (as a diskmag is, to say the least, an offline website and we can refer to it later on to confirm certain events/facts etc). Inject some steroids into the News section and then the balance is as good as it gets!
In summary, a great issue with the coverage I need to feel up to date in the demoscene of 2012, feel proud! Looking forward to the next issue, work hard and keep the spirit flame burning bright!

Sad to see that Hugi is one of the few that makes the diskmag alive,
Amazing work!
