After I don't know how many years of inactivity, DC5 gets back with this truckload of attittude.
DOS still lives on, respect!

Crashed(?) after the mutating torus part (3 seconds of music playing in a loop, back to c:\dc5, doxbox 0.72)

Everything works fine here with a gus clone. Well done!

Ha! I really like this one. Has everything and thumbs up for the insanity of doing something for DOS :-)

and:
replace "for DOS" with "using quickbasic"

DC5 are back!!!

Unfortunately I'll have to plug in a gravis in my pentium to enjoy this fully. The dosbox crashed there with the torus, unless you use the dos.conf provided. Trying gusemu32, music was going too fast and crashed, the demo seems to be synchronized with the music output, so without music I get nothing. The gus is installed in my 386 but there it will be very slow.

I managed to watch it a bit slowly in dosbox. Cool stuff, I like the dos references (and the talking parrot from sb!!!) and the error crashes fuckup near the end. I guess I'll be waiting for the video to watch it at a descent speed.

Likes to crash though.

yay I can run this on real hardware yay
truck: sweet! i didn't get to test it on an actual dos machine, but i was pretty sure it would work, since smackdown did and this uses a lot of the same stuff. for those who are getting crashes in dosbox, set speed to auto/max. if it's still too slow, your cpu is probably a lot slower than mine, so, umm, sorry. i'll make a dosbox vid capture but i'd like to try a straight dos capture if/when possible.

gargaj, you picked an ugly screenshot, thanks. ;)

NICE!

looks decent but crashes and runs really really slow... i think even yume2 by inf runs faster in dosbox on my mac than the torus parts.
funny to see new dos stuff tho.

I threw a DOSBox vid on Capped. http://www.capped.tv/dc5-abort_retry_fail
added on the 2009-04-23 14:05:41 by phoenix phoenix
Thanks for the video. I start to like it even more. It's really funny, has great references (dr sbaitso), hamster anim in msdos and greatly synced with sound and style. Also, thanks for the greetings, I rarely get some :)

The video is broken, it stops at 00:06 (tried with Firefox on Windows and Safari on OS X).

preacher: it buffers because of all the static at the start, if you wait a bit it should go.
added on the 2009-04-24 00:10:36 by phoenix phoenix
Whoa, it really did buffer long.. anyway, a nice demo indeed. I'm not too much for humour in demos, but I have to say that it made me chuckle a bit.

Very good demo, and respect for the platform!
Works very well in DosBox with cycles set to max and core set to dynamic.
Weird thing is that the last part(Glitched up stuff) looked more different and more glitchy under DosBox than on the video.

tomo: the download link is the final version.. the capped.tv link is the party version.

anyone found the hidden part in the final yet? hint: try typing different letters at the very end..

Lol. There are loads of freezes in DosBox-X, especially in donuts and cube parts.

Still. Can't find hidden part. I tried typing "DC5", "Phoenix", even some words from ARF.TXT, *nothing*!
rulez added on the 2020-07-15 10:55:51 by vitalkanev vitalkanev
vitalkanev: the youtube link includes the hidden part. Then if you still wanna try it yourself you should at least have a hint what to type. :)

For some reason, it runs faster in DOSBox 0.74 or SVN-Daum than in -X.
