What the fuck, i thought the download was broken since the file was so small. I thought the demo would be around 40 MB. What an fuckorgasmic fantastic demo in such a small package!!! U folks in Farbrausch are magicians.
BEST DEMO EVER, AND I HAVE NOTHING MORE TO SAY ABOUT IT!

you can be proud, fiver2.
Quite possibly the most beautiful demo I have ever seen. Impressive on so many levels, this just raises the bar. Awesome.
I already had high expectations after all I heard about it before, but now after finally seeing it in the compo it easily exceeds them. Everything I loved on Kasparov minus the stuff I didn't like there plus some really massive direction. And the file size! Best hit since .kkrieger, and best prod released under the farbrausch label so far!
awesome
absolutely mindbogglingly awesome demo. i'm completely and utterly speechless.
cubes
I can't remember when was the last time a demo gave me goosebumps and shivers. Fucking awesome demo.

instant milestone.

Simply and fucking awesome, no more words to define it.
What a blast. Ronny...rock on...fantastic soundtrack!
i agree with ParaPete. I feel totally humiliated. It's as though all involved in this prod have asserted their manhood on me by bending me over and anally raping me.
GIVE ME BACK MY MANHOOD Farbrausch !!!
GIVE ME BACK MY MANHOOD Farbrausch !!!
FUCK.
The Kasparov of the new generation.
a real easter gift
Very Very Cool.
I wonder how you did the explode effects. seems like many drawcalls.
My theory at this moment is that each vertex has a seed which would be common for the box it belongs to, and this is used when exploding the mesh. so that all of the boxes is just one huge mesh.

how much weed one has to smoke to get the idea of a bridge racing through a town? no, but srsly. dispite the fact that this demo managed to make my system page almost every single byte of memory it is really awesome. espacially the greetings part and the end ruled. music had some nice elements, too.
talking: hey this rules!
demo: enter stage right *thump*
talking: OMG they are gonna crash the whole crap!

It's been years since I've watched a demo and had it give me goosebumps and say "Holy... SHIT" out loud! Congrats to FR for a truly awesome demo.. A milestone and a masterpiece all in one!

\o/ and it is only 181kb. this is the best demo in 2007 great job -b. or the Best 181Kb in the World ?:) O_o--b
IMO best camera movement in a demo ever, plus sizewise amazing!
great! - and that file size....
One hell of a great demo. Loved it when watching it over the stream!
I couldn't sleep this night because of this demo! And right after I was watching it on the stream - I received tons of messages "Have you seen it?", "OMG", "KURWA!!". You guys totally rule and I understand now why I belong to the demoscene.
Thanks for bringing me the feelings of old demoscene days again!! and thanks for greetings :D
PS.
I remember when I was talking with chaos about new fiver2 baby on Evoke 2005. He was stunned back then. But hey It was almost 2 years ago! And those 177 kb, small requirements. Ok, back to the drawing board, you left me speechless. Argh!!

damn forgot the thumb!!
I dont know, it looks fantastic, it's brilliantly directed, yet it's still hi-tech, german and rather boring. Probably because it's hell slow on my machine. Yet (just thinking) if you gave it a little bit of fairlightish freshy groove and sync, it'd be so much better, as i see it!
video plz
*fap fap fap*
Outstanding. Thanks for this.
This demo shows what happens when you keep to the idea of traditional demomakers "Let's demolish some more!" Or in other words. Let's make something big that differs and makes huge impact. Something that will be discussed for a long time. This one is best demo in it's own cathegory and it has filesize of a small intro. And that what counts.
Quite amazing considering the small size.
normally i don't like almost pure 3d, but this had cubes
U B GODS!
WTF?
I'll be leaving a thumb and come back later, when I'm actually able to understand what just happend.

Ok ,lets all go ,quit the scene ,noone will ever best that! (maybe fr themselves) ;OP

A Milestone in the demoscene that's sure - Beside this great engine I love the direction, textures and the whole Idea.
It's a pure Killer and I bet that many Sceners are motivated to make some more impressive demo - which should be hard the next months/years...
ROCK HAMBURG CITY BRENNT!

FR-025 is dead
Definitely a milestone for the demo scene. Looks like we have to have a new reference for the next couple of years. I really hope it will not take another four years until we see something from fiver2!
Thought a while about some constructive critique:
-- the character animation sucks
-- no clouds at all
-- hund was much too big
Really really love it!

fr is teh win
this demo is a killer! and again I fell like I have seen my first demo. great.
A good prod... unfortunately I haven't seen it on the bigscreen. BUT... calm down guys - 10xcoup de coeur after a few hours - are you insane?
Absolutly REWLS!
I can't believe how good that demo is, really I can't.
This is the most stunned I've been since I saw Mental Hangover for the first time.

the kingdom of popular demo is over, we have a new king
i love.
hund
watching it on demoscene.tv it was a killer, running it on my pc it looks a bit intro-ish, but still the use of camera, sound and motion is what makes this totally amazing. very creepy at times
DOPE !
I'll predict we'll see a LOT of demos with this camera style in the next year...
I have a nosebleed... excellent! :)
Wow?! Finally a good Farbrausch production again. Relly awesomely great. Great camerawork, superbly detailed city and soooo many cube. Rawks! Thank you.
technically one of the best things ive seen in a long while. the debris effect was quite cool, allthough it was perhaps dragged out for a bit too long time. music should have been improved. but in total an easy rules
madness!
<3
It Makes Me Shake!
great audio, great camera - great engine, but the content is dull.
fist really cool demo since 1993
first i ment :)
Looked totally un-freaking-believable on the stream (that is with the right amount of blur!). A second viewing on my PC reveals that some textures etc. show kind of a procedural/generated look.
Does not change the fact that this totally rules in any way though.
Real cool coder dominance to win at the first party that has a 64Mb limit with a 177kb demo!

rocks
Everything has been said, I guess. ;)
Who cares about file size these days? I would love that demo with a file size of 64mb either - really amazing stuff and probably a milestone which must be overbid in the next years.
wow! strange beginning but the end is impressive!
OMFG - Aufstand der Polygone - in 181kb ... kicks ass ... at least mine :)
Woow ...
Woow ...
supertoll strüpssi!
USA!!!!
Hardcore Abriss 181kb.. Great stuff..
Loved it.
starts a bit slow but the part from the greetings onwards is just great...
unglaublich.

personal respects to chaos and fiver - you did it again throwing me down to the floor (without laughing :)
marvellous job, lads!
marvellous job, lads!
chills, ace!
Makes me shiver...
It seems like TBL missed a spot last year while trying to break everything. Glad you cleaned that up.
A real breath-taking, mind-blowing, jaw-dropping, eye-opening, skin-tingling, spine-shivering experience!
This made me remember everything I used to love about the demoscene.
Huge respect!

I'm not into PC demos much, but this one is different: It's original and flawless, terribly well designed, full of atmosphere and technically superb.
I'm deeply impressed.
I'm deeply impressed.
Hell, this just CAN'T be 177k... It looks so awesome. Let's see if it runs on my machine . If not, I demand the video - fast!
This is indeed amazing... reminds me a bit on war of the worlds :) Pushing the boundaries! btw, video link is added now too.
I almost forgot to breathe while watching this on the bigscreen......
actually, i dislike it don't get why there is such hype about it. really, i don't think THIS responds to the scene spirit mostly. no point, story goes from nowhere to nowhere, after 30 seconds it happens to lose its initial potential and becomes repetitive, then boring. somehow, i don't think i want to see it again (unlike other demos).
on the other hand, what i liked were the documentary-like shots; pitty it was all incoherent and without any conception; and the fact about the exe size. the soundtrack doesn't deserve a respect - it's average, actually.

machs halt besser, stümper.
really nice on BIG screen...
Yep. The texture and model quality is so amazing for the filesize and there are a lot of breaking stuff, a lot of breaking stuff with a lot of polygons there! Though,. there are demos that have astonished me more. It's too repeatitive and predictable the FR way. Though, the latest two new FR demos are promising good come backs still. I have more possitive feeling about this..
I liked it, but could have been a bit shorter, because something like this sure fits anim better.
@___@;; wtf scary impressive amazing wow ffewwww!! Unbelievable visuals and sound, congrats guys for this masterpiece.
Eye-candy but quite boring.

Hats Off!
good to hear i'm not the only one thinking of dark city, the absolutely GREAT alex proyas movie. seeing it on my computer i can see i need to upgrade my computer -- this demo really enjoys antialiasing. :)
comin' straight from tha projects :)
can't believe my eyes. farbrausch. the proffessionals. that is. yes.
Start is a bit boring and the music could be a bit more epic, but hey, it's under 200K, looks great and has a great direction!
Der Hund ist zurueck!

i like it
nice concept and design.
Oops, forgot the thumb.
Finally a FB demo I enjoyed!!
slideshow here (due to the shitty graphic card in my laptop, i believe). Will watch later on the HTPC and vote, but looks damn good :)
Now this is how a flyby should be done. :)
Yes, yes very great technical performance. But it is missing style...
Just made another Video with a bit more kbps (XviD 3500) and another resolution. Just in case someone wants it

this is the first farbrausch demo i really wholeheartedly love.
thanks to slashy for the BIG video :) the small one looks crappy, and i want to enjoy full quality on my old machine :-D
technically awesome
actually the best part of this demo was seeing a certain persons face when i said "you know, in the beginning it looked a bit too much like a smash designs demo" :D
leijaa: you are soooo funny. beside that, any release from you in the last years? no? maybe you should go to your computer and do something better? mkay, thanks!
Thanks for this one, guys.
finally some new high powered effects!! YUM!! =))
ok, i got it, tools are needed.
really, this is great. a lot!
really, this is great. a lot!
I don't think I have ever been this amazed at a demo before. Absolutely awesome!
it works on my 7600Go when textures are "normal" detail.. with shadows it's slower but still has a decent framerate. heavy :)
Actually both videos have some issues:
lowres version
-bad gamme
-no antialiasing
-somne shader issues?
hires version:
-lots of compression artifacts
-timing bugs
I hope there will be an official version!

doing a demo using 64k techniques definitely has to hurt.
!!!
Very good demo !
i don't know what can be said. fr08 has made me into demoscene, fr041 assures i'm here till i die trying my best.
WOW!
ok that's totally kick ass! nice work!
I'm sure I have seen the spirit of it somewhere.. FF7 the movie, a road scene? a coincidence probably, but.. a camera movement, roads, rubbish, destruction, lighting/bloom... of course inspiration might be a mix of many exepriences you might have (i.e. going down the street, travelling by train, eating cubeflakes with a milk).
As for the cubes: at first (on demoscene.tv) I thought they are blended together blobby-way.. it looked like the most impressive effect in the demo (because of compression of course).. but apperently cubes are just a set of cubes, not connected with any kind of smooth skin :'(
Thumb up for overall composition and models/textures generated with a small/consistent set of rules.

now this was something waay beyond my expectations!
Go away.
Great show! Cheers...
Great idea with some really good direction. The texture and geometry detail is amazing. Imho the overall pace could have been a wee bit faster, though and the soundtrack does get a little boring in the end.
Still it's an amazing demo and all that in 180K - great work!

very good demo
I just came home from a ~10h trip back home including the last 4hrs by car, and the first thing I make sure I do is to go straight to pouet to thumb up this production.
I know I'm not that active on these forums, but the day I will get my first cdc I'm pretty sure I will give it to this production, pure excellence.
And mind you, I'm not too keen with intros, I'm not to keen with most fr stuff, and I'm definitly not keen with 3d shows as a winner, but this one is just that good.

Dear Farbrausch,
Thank you!
Thank you for such an awesome experience.
Thank you for raising the bar and giving us all a new perspective and something to aspire to.
Thank you for saving the Breakpoint experience for me in the last minute.
Thank you for making me start the "hund" chant after the demo was over, even though my lungs desperately needed air and I was almost choking.
It's been years since I've been so ecstatic by watching a demo. And I'm so glad I was there to witness it on it's debut screening.. on the huge screen of BP. It was an experience that has carved itself in my soul.
I surely know that this is going to motivate the rest of us to improve and create more impressive demos.
Once again..
Thank you!

While watching this at the party, I felt like I did the first time I saw Second Reality many years ago. Totally stunned! Everything good has already been said about this here. And unlike Second Reality, this actually isn't overrated at all! There are several minor things in this that could have been done better which I don't even dare to mention, but I almost believe that all of those were actually planted deliberately, because otherwise this demo would have been the perfection itself, there would be no need to make any more demos and the whole demoscene would just end instantly! So, many thanks for saving the scene for us!
And now a message for crs who dared to have the arrogance to thumb this down:
I did expect this will inevitably get a thumbdown or two, but I would never have guessed it would be you, a member of my own group! I was horrified when I was reading what you wrote. Sure, it is OK to dislike this demo if you feel that way. But come on, this product deserves a hundred thumb ups just for the camera or the file size alone, even if you absolutely and utterly hate everything else about it! But the main problem I have with your critique is that I am pretty sure that if this was not a Farbrausch product, you would never ever think about thumbing it down, not even for a single second. If it was me who made a demo like this, it would be an instant thumb-up from you, and don't even try to deny it! You made me angry and sad today.

crs: lol, pw0ned!
I respect the technical achievement, but this is boring.
STOP...
.....HAMMERTIME!
.....HAMMERTIME!
So I watched it thinking about how much it reminded me of various parts of Spiderman 2 (the generic subway bridge) and then the cube exploded.
Wow.
Beautiful AND a technological wonder.
I think I'm going to judge my new computer's graphics card based on whether or not it can run this demo at full speed.
Seriously... cities have been done before in similarly small sizes (Fairlight had a pretty good one in "Dead Ringer", though this even beats Smash Designs' "Weltenkonstrukt") but none to this level of detail, and none with a deforming/exploding demo engine. We've come a long way since "Rise!" by Mindforce&Park (which was cool).
Only weak parts were
1.) The music
2.) The shadows (or perhaps just the ones on Slashy's Hirez video) weren't entirely consistent for some reason- some of the pipes didn't look 3D...
3.) Much too short!
Did I mention I love the gigantic explosions? I assumed those were too difficult to do in any way approaching realism.

this prod roqz!
I loved the sinus-scroller elevated roadways. (And a bunch of other stuff too...)
Simply stunning. Congrats to fiver!
just watched this demo on a (designed-for-silence) system with geforce 6150 onboard... and seems that the framerate is quite bearable in low resolution/low texturequality modes :)
lol at diamondie comment ;) demoscene is all about naked chicks, cubes and good spacesynth music ;)
The beginning reminds me SONY's TV advertizing with tonne of balls running through the empty city streets.
Well, sound effects (city ambient) is very good for softsynth!
The running bridge is excelent. The show!

Fucking amazing demo. No that mutch more to say, this is simply fantastic
not their best one, but good
It was stunning on the bigscreen. You rule.
"Now I know why uncle Bill said "640k should be enough for everyone"... he was exaggerating " (soolta)
You should have checked the memory when the demo starts to run. The RAM is stuffed completely by auto-generated textures ;-)

I watched this live on demoscene.tv, and hardly believe what my eyes were watching.
The first thought that I was is that I have to quit the scene... now after some maduration and the initial hype passed away, I think I feel more motivated than ever.
Thank you Farbraush!

Just want to get my thumb in, so to speak.
rules ... ho yeah
wtf!
Great mood, visuals and music complement each other, and the demo is short enough that the concept doesn't get boring. Solid thumb up.
HUND!
i actually thought this suffered on the bigscreen (too dark), and i didnt realise it was so small until after the compo :)
a little perspective later, and i can only thank you for giving me some inspiration to try much harder in future. :)

überaus appetitlich.
i have spent some time watching them work on debris at elitehaus, and i recall fiver going beyond werkkzeugs limits every 2 days. direction has been tough and strict, just as it ought to be.

Please 64k it.
Oh my god!
fuck! close to being the best demo i've ever seen. the use of dynamics in both visuals and soundtrack + fx (who the funk said it wasn't GOOD?!) are just ouuutstandin'. touches.
Like everybody at BP07, I was standing up, amazed, terrified, just happy.
Kasparov and the product are back:) Totally rules.
What can I say ? Simply - Chaos ! Great

well, another great fr release!
it is such a impressive demo with a superb filesize, that i couldn't realize it now.
and the superb sound of synth rocks really!
the guys of fr are now with an innovative demo really back ;-)
and with werkzeug3, this release has a great performance, it runs on my slow machine, too...

rc55: you should mention in the youtube description that the original is only 180 kb (although the average youtube visitor may not understand the concept of size :-)
Very impressive. This is technically very well made and direction is great!
Achtung Einsturzgefahr :)
Very impressive thing that is. Liked the elevated tracks and the EQX reference in the greetings.
Sadly this debris-fx *jawdrop* seemed to consume those little things that would make such a demo an instant classic. To put it straight. It missed that special touch. And the fonts sucked right away (except the EQX greet of course) even though they were smashed to pieces. But it's a blockbuster...literally.

Fuuuuuck! FR are 100% back!
.add: you could have packed some more design in it, so that it had torn down the bloody Rundsporthalle and still wouldn't pass beyond 256 kB, eh?
so why didn't you arrrrr

Monumental.
And the soundtrack is excellent as well.
Maybe this demo was intended to fit the 64k intro format initially.
I just can't imagine the hype effect if it had been. =)

great prod and runs smooth on average computers, despite the awesome graphics. rules!!
Cant say shit, it shocked me on the party totally:) Congrat FR!
Very well done, but I personally find it boring.
Oh my god! The moving bridges! So awesome that I can't explain it! I lost mye breath, for sure...
Unbelievable what farbraush did. Not only this has never been done in that filesize: , the presentation, direction and the concept is really, really awesome. Thumbs up for you guys, by releasing this great and inspiring demo! You've made a lot of people happy at the party!

WINNERDEMO !!
no, honestly, this continues a tradition of great demos from farbrausch. Many new ideas here (damn you I was working on an exploding particle engine lately myself).
This is kind of a small paradigm shift. Let me elaborate:
In the past I have watched certain demos that have moved the goalpost a bit further. These demos were:
* Machines of madness. In 96 I thought that was the peak (and it was). I sort of gave up right there and then.
* Heaven 7 and VIP. "Look what these guys can do these days"
* Poem to a horse. When I saw it I thought : this is what I should aim for.
* Zoom 3. "fuck"
* Pretty much all .plastic demos.
Same with debris. A future classic.

Krass!
Sets new standards regarding sense of scale und camerawork in the demoscene.
nice stuff for 180k .
just insane.
just wow
Very impressive stuff
In my WOW's meter it got 10 x WOW.
I see that all the scene wants to thank you - Farbraush for this inpiring work. Me too. Didn't you think about releasing this somewhere at Siggraph? I'd love to see it there. Good luck and keep this work.

it's the first demo my mom enjoyed watching (i've forced her to watch many) (:
Ok, finnaly, I could watch it.

Lol, I just noticed that some corner rooms have lit and dark windows at the same time, this demo sucks :-)
I should not have whatched this at work, can't get it out of my mind. It's mindblowing. I love it.
You guys rule.. :)
for those of you who weren't at the party to experience it: it was magic!

I agree with others ;)
OMFG (and I don't usually say thing like that).
just 180k! REZPEKT!!!!!!!!
C'mon guys, take it easy, that is just a demo... Crazy how much it's hyped !!
(oh shit, I'm just trying to get this Debris out my mind)
No, really, FR guyz are not human. In fact, they're some hardcore aliens coming from outer space to throw down humanity on its teeth.

Absolutely stunning.
At last! A WOW effect again! It was worth the 2 years of work!
I had the last WOW effect with "Die Ewigkeit schmerzt" of paniq.

Totally brainblasting!!
This is the worst demo ever made. Absolutely terrible.
Oo Absolutely terrible !!
Best demo ever!! big respect for FR again
it has some mindblowing snippets but the blatant we're-trying-to-impress-you-thingy and the cheesyness of it feels like it could have been conceived by the mind of a 12yr old.
anyway, credz for the effort and skillz involved.
anyway, credz for the effort and skillz involved.
I don't like the concept that much since it seems very clichéd, but the execution is very nice. I would've liked to have seen this combined with the lkcc demo :)
Neat
a worthy winner
THIS explains why the size of the pc demos were actually displayed on the slides, AND why the sizelimit for pc-demos was raised to 64mb! it all makes sense now!
177Kb of pure genius :)
anyone else noticed those parrallels to kasparov?
the parking-lot looks exactly like in kasparov..
and the camera following those pipes..

you might even think these people were connected somehow!
Sorry, I just don't get it. Boring, with drab audio. Much prefer Popular and Candytron.
Wholy shit! This is the first PC demo to really impress me in 10 years or so.
best demo .. this is fact
- it was the greatest atmosphere on bp07
what i have seen, as this demo was running
- the idea for that story, the handling with camera , all textures are generated, objects over and over,
+ the music (incl. synthbased effects) - was really great (i must it know ;)
- the result in 177Kb

*LOVE*
awesome for <200k but the design is not my cup of tea..
not my style, but great graphics artwork! hat down.
Yep
awesome! not sure if I like the cube things, though
kasparov-style is back with a vengeance. way to make a joke of the higher size limit. this plus the andromeda comeback (oh, and meeting/re-meeting people, duh) made flying over to breakpoint worth it. being in the already satisfied crowd, then surrounded by "whooooa"s followed by open-mouthed grins and heads shaking in disbelief. this is what compos are all about.
Watching this on monitor without the free blur coming from the DTV stream is good before giving a sober and solid thumb. As you can see from our demo, I prefer a less cinematic style but I have absolutely no problem in recognizing the excellent effort made in this production: The feeling of movement you get from e.g. the bridges is great, just to mention one of many instances where the direction/execution triumphs over its competitors. On the technical side, it is clear that FR has one of the best demotools around.
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
I want a hund. t-shirt.
OMFG. That's about everything I can say. Somehow, just as fr-08 was jaw-dropping at it's time, fr-041 does the same again.
Over impressive. Supreme in every detail.
I thought it would get boring after a while but hell no, i enjoyed every single second watching that engine at work.
Instant love.

hm. i don't understand all the hype. i had to watch this thing 3 times to comprehend it a bit at least. the idea/story has been seen 100 times before, the city-design is a tad boring and the cuts are so-so. BUT: the sound-concept is well-elaborated, the grande "hund"-finale is superb and then the size - wow.
We'll own you. someday. perhaps. err.
this demo remind me a lot an ad about a French telecom operator...
But the final result is good even if it's perhaps too concept and too long.
Thumbs up for the work and the directing

No point in telling my penis this isn't porn.
ich glaube das ist ein gutes demo..
awesome.
awesome.
Wicked demo. First thing that came to my mind was Max Payne.
And this is what happens when you try to squeeze too much stuff into a 64k... :)
much respect for the compression, but not as groundbreaking as "the popular demo".
orgasmicly great!
Was SOOOO fhakkin awsome on the bigscreen. I think even the most drunk people sobured up during this demo :)

speechless! demo of the decade!
btw- seems it consistently crashes in <512*384 videomodes here :/
F*CKIN' Sh*t !!! :-D
You DID it _again_, pals!!
What a GREAT show working absolutely perfect on the BIG screen!
You are completely INSANE, dudes! :-)
What I like most here is the incredible camera-work and style you use!
It looks really brilliant fitting to the style and suites the atmosphere rather perfectly!
Also the idea and use with those security-camera looks comes so unbelievable great (together with the changed sound/music in those parts of course as well!)...
Thanks a LOT, fiver2, for explaining your influences a bit above here. It solved a lot of my guessings for sure! :-D
You really did a GREAT job (again) with your ideas and directions here, indeed!
All comes absolutely TRUE and - from a filmer's point of view - without any doubts absolutely fantastic in what you wanted to achieve with that art and style!
Not mentioning the squeezing of all that stuff into ridiculously 177kb is more than MASSIVLY ILL, mates! :-D (Although many of it wouldn't have been possible without those now-a-days hardware/graphic-cards capapbilities as you can see from the minimum/recommended readme-section though! ;-) )
Anyways:
HUGE respect from my side and BIG congratulations for this GREAT return of fR in 2007 now!! :-D
See ya' all at the next chance, dudes!
And KEEP THE SCENE SPIRIT UP !!

frameskool vs. debris
This is procsynth death magic with only seven-odd distinct textures and lots of majestic lighting effects!!
On the very last day of our earth, all of our souls in the form of little cubes (colour reminds me of the default hue in Flash =P) gather in this very place for the requiem for what was once our own home, before we summon forth the mighty hund, obliterating our lifeless planet to what it was before God touched it...
an endless ocean of subatomic plankton...

b... b. b.. b.... but how?
1. this is not a demo, this is a dentro
it has:
* very long loading time
* slightly above-average visuals
* very hardware-demanding
* good 3d `agenda` i must say, but
* no innovation
* just `animation` without much sense
* average sountrack, even proning to loose it's attractivity throughout the time
* no progress after half a minute of watching time
* 1 style, 1 environment (dunno whether this is really a con)
it's potential is /sad to say/ spoiled after few first promising shots
come on, after all that hype, do you really think this is it? it's just 3d, nothing else, no other smart nor creative attitude. have you all forgot all witty/innovative demos with unforseen points of view?
ok, debris doesn't suck, it doesn't worth such attention either.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
That comment was of course directed at crs.
shakul: cool down man - i believe we can have absolutely different opinion on this while still respecting each other. second thing, i vote as i feel it - i must say again, i REALLY don't find this dentro neither interesting nor good. and i don't think this is any arrogance in it.
ok, let's wait a year or two and see, if debris is among three best demos ever or (almost) forgotten. fair enough?

K-man: yes. nothing more, nothing less. people can have very various opinions about one same thing, and each of them DOESN'T NEED TO BEND HIS OPINION according to the MAJORITY.
A nice audiovisual pleasure (tho a bit hyped imho)
WUFFF
crs: Well, I actually cooled down a bit by now, but i still can't understand why all three of my completely unoriginal an definitely not innovative te2-rb/bakkslide7 ripoffs got your thumb ups and this got a thumb down... It really smells like a reverse name-voting to me.
Maybe I wouldn't have been so angry at you if you just said "I am only thumbing this down because too many people thumbed it up and I don't think it deserves so much praise" :-)
And I don't get the "dentro" part of your post at all. Does it fit the rules of the "demo" category? It does, therefore it is a demo. Period.

crs had some kind of jealous overreaction and is now trying to cover his ass. Ignore..
Kickass! Definitely an awesome prod ... nice gfx, msx and filesize. Demoscene at it's best!
fuckin cool!
pretty cool!
Hmm, I have mixed feelings about this one. Totally awesome visuals (if we forget about the fonts) and the soundtrack fits (but I would have preferred something more rough/industrial like). On the other hand, it is a pretty boring at times though I totally dig the explosions. I like the flow after the greetingspart, but before that it is too boring for me. Anyway, respect for doing something like that in such a small filesize! I guess I just have to watch it a few times more to be able to fully appreciate it. :)
bastards
Great, impressive, very nice, everything you want.
but also boring and already seen.
well it's great to see that in 177k ... but i'm expecting something else now ...

Sealthz: (about covering one's ass) yes, in your presence.
shakul: i like several things guys of farbrausch did (poem to a horse, candytron, popular demo, (sleepless), ...). i especially like some of kb's synth tunes. i have nothing personal against them. but this one is average- something between piggy and thumb down.
you - do a shitty prod and be sure you'll get a thumb down from me in the first place :]
perhaps, that's just i wasn't at the party and didn't see it on a big screen - perhaps i would be infestated too :*)

Interesting stuff...

+music

+story telling
+effects, not just a Maya flyby.

On the IRC, I said: "I got a cold, and I can't attend the party anyway, so I'll finally go buy this new gfx card I want to watch these demos!"
I bought a 7600GS card yesterday and I'm amazingly surprised how smooth it is with my AMD2400+ CPU (1Gb RAM).
Great surprise. Great demo.

Bingo!
3 thumb downs vs 355 thumb ups and 18 cdc's. Personal opinions aside, saying this is 'mediocre' is just outrages bullshit.
outragious even.

the demoscene is closed now. thankyou for playing.
something's gone terribly wrong here.. farbrauch is so lazy to release a 64k when they're still missing the limit by >100k, and it gets hyped anyway? ;)
well, not. actually, it's a great demo, and not only for the incredible file size. just as dead ringer by fairlight, which also looks quite alike, just remove the dancer and add a bit larger city. the lonely-city topic starts to get a bit faded, but i bet no one would mind seeing a few more of these.

Mindblowing! From watching 'debris' at the party I remember shear amazement and then, being in middle of the standing crowd clapping like hell.
Btw, camera work is unbelievably great ;)
Btw, camera work is unbelievably great ;)
the static frame looks better than consecutive animation bits, because i have no further imagination when object breaks to pieces of debris as long as i notice the others do the same.
welcome to the demoscene!
unlike the majority i'm not THAT
enthusiastic about this production.
dark city vs. ghostbusters vs. max payne is
not what i associate with scene design.
nevertheless, the very nice soundtrack, the
camera movements and these cubes justify
a thumb up.

this is some ill shit.
not often i thumb up a fr prod, but who can deny this piece.
After seeing that on bigscreen, i just had an erection and my mouth was open... really, i couldn't do anything about it. If any of my groupmates would have told me that he somehow missed it, an instant kill would have followed.
I can only say GOD ist DOG. DOG ist HUND. HUND RULT!!!
Now back at home, it didn't quite make any special impression. It was the big cinema feeling, to which incredible camerawork and tiniest perfectly fitting pieces have contributed at the bigscreen, which didn't quite work at home. Perhaps also because the first time over it is always the strongest.
Tons of respect for the good work!
Whoever wasn't at the party cannot understand!
Und wer die Size braucht, hat es nicht kapiert...

It would deserve all the hype if it was an intro. Still a great release anyway.
I was really astonished by the artwork. Nevertheless its all procedural (looking at the file size) The sights are very impressive, so is the camera movement. It made me feel that I am right there.
Okay, this rocks big time. It has style and plenty of good ideas, and technically it's extremely impressive.
you guys rock! and once again i am deeply impressed, thanks for creating such stuff

wtf with screenshot? why it's turned in 16:9? ugly
Very creative and enjoyable to watch. Some crazy ideas here and perfectly executed with great sync. Not quite as impacting as Popular Demo was but all the same a fantastic demo worthy of a all time top 10 pc demo ranking. (not even considering the file size!!)
Seriously, whoever thumbs this down is either:
A. total fucking lamer (AKA absolutely no idea what a demo is) or
B. Kidding :)
This is definately one of my all-time favorite demos. Thanks for the experience!

Fantastic demo, very original... The kind of demo you only find once every few years.

Wow, very cool. Slow but cool.
Wow, you can draw many untextured ugly boxes around some curves! What's so impressive in here? Next time check "superellipsoid" shape to use something more elaborated. Explosion boxes have also normals messed up. Music is so-so. The demo is pretty boring, I even had to quit it early. Sorry guys, this doesn't look very convincing. :-/ Maybe next time. ;)
Nothing I could I say would do this justice.
First time ever I give thumbs up for the camera!
Absolutely stunning. Congrats ;]
after the very average pc-compo last year this was leaving me with my mouth open for a couple of hours.
Funny to see that some guys thumb a perfect production down and think they were cool because of doing this !
This demo impressed me more then every demo i saw before !
Lifepower show us your stuff which should be really impressive if you are such a Pro-Coder ! lol

Oh My World!! =)
Proves the scene is not dead to me. Fantastic. Camera, direction, feel of size and power, even a "story". In < 250k. A true winner.
crs: probably what happens is that this is not original or innovative with respect to things you look for in a demo. that put aside, debris shows so much dedication and attention to detail, what is rarely seen in the scene nowadays, that i also wonder why are you so insistent making the point that it won't last a year.
Fucking brilliant.
Ok, it is good. But 19 cdc's, come on!?
* watch it again *
Ok, the direction and camera path is just outstanding and it is a marvellous feeling in it... I'm starting to understand all those cdc's.
* Notice the file size *

I cant give u another thumb up but I want to say in all the bullshit of the scene and all the arrogance, you guys remain humble and deliver the best. R-E-S-P-E-K-T.

very impressiv demo !! R.E.S.P.E.C.T
mighty :)
As for the pretty visuals versus filesize, this is not neccesarily jawdropping anymore, as we know what we can expect from FR these days. But damn, the direction and flow of this demo is just MASSIVE. A slight minor is that the audio aint that stunning as the rest of the prod (at least at home, the PA saved it :D)
Well, it does have cubes.
Visuals rock. Music rocks. Thumbie.
wow =)
Rocked at the party!
everything has been said already. the standards have been set a tad higher, let's see who's going to top that one, not only in appeance but also in size. =)
FR wins tha demoscene!!! ;-P
besides the fact that i only could watch the video version, this thing totally rocks. At least there is some hope that ppl of pc scene start to optimize their code again and stop creating demos above 8-10mb *g*
another asskicking demo by farbrausch... for my personal taste the best of all farbrausch demos... keep up that good work...

on the big screen at BP I was blown away. I think it's a bit long-winded to watch again, but definitely impressive, and I love the camera work!
Yeah Plaf's right, the cameras totally looked hand-filmed...it was almost like watching street magic :D
Was blown away watching this through demotv. Can't stop raving it. Been throwing it at people since the party.
well it's tecnically very very impressive. just a bit boring, imho. Maybe because i see it as -so- polished and -so- smooth, to me its much more apt to an animation audience, and loses its wow factor somehow.

doesn't work on a Pentium D 3Ghz (CoreDuo) with an ATI X1300 and Windows Vista.
Goes back to desktop after the loading screen (sometimes with a fancy Vista error dialog).
Works as a slideshow on XP with ATI M200.
If you need any further details or need to betatest anything on the Vista computer (if you are willing to fix it), let me know :)

Ok, this is shit. Can't write optimized code, the animation is fugly and without deeper thought, the music is boring. Can't even animate houses properly.
And of course I'm just kidding. This one of the best prods I've seen, ever. ++ for the size as well.

Fantastic!
Someone really needs to send this demo to George Lucas and show him what talent these guys in Germany have - and all under 200k.
Sweet.
Sweet.
Very impressive ! Akira inspiration ?
This is great in many aspects. Seemed a bit less great than in the compo but anyway :)
Great 180kB of code, music and visual effects. The only drawback is the annoying moire in the beginning.
Absolutely incredible. I hadn't watched a demo in ages, and the impact of seeing this was awsome. Amazing direction and scale, really "puts you there".
like it!
Actually I am not that much impressed - it's a bit too sterile (sp?) for me.
I couldnt explain this wounderfull Demo. it was incredible and everything in 177kb... WOW ;) The best Demo Ever...
Massive.
Definately a thumb up.
+size
+direction and camera movement
+palette
+shadows
Very impressive work indeed. I would also say a very "commercial" demo, anyone who's not familiar with the demoscence will enjoy debris. It must be a mind-blowing experience to the newcomer...

Great music, great graphics, great presentation.
Overall, a really great demo.

f.y.i: "debris" has become the underground hit at FMX; being shown pretty much all day, every day, on different computers that we carry around (me, gargaj and steeler :)
Nice effects but thats all.
Very enjoyable :)
This demo is the most incredible ever, EVER.
It needs a big screen and good sound system, though. My exp is that if I show it to people on my monitor they go like "yeah, that is a nice demo". But if I show it on my 125" screen - and turns up the volume - then people are about as awestruck as we were at the compo. (Yeah, ofcourse most demos look far greater on a big screen, but imo only few demos take as much advantage of a big screen as debris).
Only minus is the dreadful 2:1-aspect. Especially on a 16:9 display, the tiny-weeny black borders on top and bottom look plain stupid. I must admit that I tend to run it in 2:1-mode, stretching it vertically. I would really appreciate if you would add a PanScan-option in the final version (if such a thing should ever pop out).

As my main rig has been KIA for quite some time, I've been stuck with a mediocre laptop with some generic Intel graphics crap, hence being unable to watch all the latest generation of demos. Also, I don't have an internet connection, so I've been reduced to warhogging ;) Anyways, I've just finally seen this demo (video form), and what can I say... I'm ecstatic. I'm happy because its been several years since I've seen something in the demoscene that has given me the same type of rush.
So basically, what I want to say is: I love you guys ;)
So basically, what I want to say is: I love you guys ;)
The best I've EVER seen! Don't care for your other stuff but this is some amazing time and effort. The looking up then at the fence then back again is the best part along with the great realistic effect of the security cameras. Do another like this (over the next few years)
It just all fits together. Out of this world. I agree with NezbiE, hadn´t had such a rush for years.
Oh my god wow... This gave me goosebumps the whole way through. It's so fluid and man.... I can't even describe it. Incredibly well done, guys!
fucking awesome
I really liked it. The equinox-logo in the greets was a really nice touch :)
Made my GPU cry because I couldn't help but turn up the details. Looked absolutely spectacular, though.
yuh super..

Upgrades to my system include another GB of ram to make 2GB total and replaced my 6600GT card with a new XFX 7900GS (AGP8x) card. Ran the demo. All default settings 1024x768 high texture quality and shadows. VERY smooth.
Inspiring. Stunning.

Great music, great design, great concept and incredible (can’t believe my eyes) coding. How they procedurally generate all that content just boggles my mind. This is probably the most perfect example of a demo prod I have ever seen. I am not worthy.
amazing, a real fr riliz. welcome back!
:o
Fantastic, he amount of work gone into this, both coding and production must off been unreal. AMAZING!

Spirit crushing are the right words to describe debris.; makes you feel you should have started coding when you were three. I have so much to say but I think all 500+(!) positive comments thus far will have pretty much already covered everything I want to express so go read them. There is NOTHING better than this...
The EXE is 177K only... phantastic impressions though
unbelievable, that this cool piece only has 177 kb.

This demo feels like one of those nightmares where everything around you falls apart and you can't wake up from it. Very intense stuff - a mind fucking roller coaster ride.
The best demos are great to look at and pleasing in every sense. But this one sticks out because it also sucks you in! Entertainment at its best!
My only "complains": The train (when it drives by and when you're in it) does not have a sound effect. And the 1st person camera could have a "personality" where it could show the stuff around it expressing fear of its "holder" (fast "looking" from one effect to another or running away from it to a "safer" spot and then pointing back to the effect). And some fixed cameras could be blown away too like the debris and still "transmitting".

Must thumb up the filesize and direction.
Still the soundtrack sucks hard imho (except for that part near the end with the giant HUND destroying the pavement), and it's yet another 3D flyby.
But what a stylish one !

Cool!
This is probably the most incredible demo I have ever seen. You do need a powerful computer, and a good sound system to experience the power of this demo.
I liked every aspect of this demo (besides hardware requirements)... It was a fucking cool experience. I don't see any problems with the soundtrack, it fits very well. Yes, fucking impressed!
Das da, ist ein grandios talentierter Hund! :D
This is really excellent. Great production, a 3d flybye maybe, but it's a really excellent put together, and some originally things in here. Love the music, and 177k is just awesome.

177Kb for that ... It'll set the new standards for future productions.
Simply amazing technically, and not bad to the artistic side.

why to be so shitted? for example, this is 3 times smaller and it's MUCH MUCH better than debris, in both music and visuals. (and btw. it used these camera movements too, long ago debris)
feh.
My fave fr so far since poem.to.a.horse... made me shiver... great ride! Thumbs (and toes) up!
It's... wow.... i'm speachless.
This prod rulez:)
This prod seriously rules. The kind of "Kasparov on steroids" that I love. The music fits perfectly, the visuals are amazing (and very nostalgic to me).
Whenever some of my friends ask me "What is this demo-thingie about?", I usually show them FR8, FR25 and now this one... and then I tell them about the filesize. That is the moment where they pass out :-)
Seriously, this is just amazing work by fiver2 and the crew!

I agree, best 177kb intro ever, hands down! haha :D
Great prod, although my PC resists to show more than 1 fps
Thanks, but I tried all kind of configurations (3,4 GHz Single-Core, 1 Gig, Geforce 6610 XL), and things are running smoothly for 10 seconds, then it turns into a slideshow.

More thumbs! FR need more thumbs! 400 in a row is not even approaching the amount of recognition these guys deserve for their talent. MOAR!!

Great
Decided that this was significant enough to be awarded my first CDC ever.

Watch it or die!
Êë¸âàÿ âåùü! Ìîëîäöû ðåáÿòà! :)
Extremely impressive, but a bit boring. Does not deserve all-time top in my opinion. .werkkzeug rulez, tho (:
well. now i know why ryg giggled like a schoolgirl when i asked him about their demo :)
So tiny, yet so massive :)
For me this is hard.
On the technical sides its extremely impressive. But on the creative side, to me it honestly seemed a bit dull. I must say, I am a fan of demos with colour (like Candytron, Frameskool etc..). This didnt seem that nice artistic wise, but technically I like a lot. So for me its a piggy, since I can't really open up to a thumbs up, yet I cant thumb it down either. :)

I dare you to show me a demo with better drive and sense of storytelling.
Well, for me, one would be "Of Spirits Taken". To me, that had quite a direct approach, which I liked, a lot. Plus the visual style was quite appealing to me. To be honest, I don't feel the same about Debris as I do for Spirits Taken, mainly due to the visual style. Sure, its very nice technically, but aesthetically, I just don't like the whole setting (the dark colours to me arn't that appealing). But otherwise, its a good prod to me. Its just I am undecided on which way I should go. This is just my opinion, and I don't want to argue or debate over it :)

drive and sense of storytelling
A cube of cubes comes to a city and becomes snakes of cubes that move the houses and everything blows up? That story? :)
I liked this quite a bit despite it not taking me anywhere. I love HL2, so I didn't mind the gfx, was AOK with me. :)
Camera stuff gave it some zing and some nice confus-a-cat Ltd moments when everything was morphing, thumbs up from me :)
Incredible, but that AVG thing is horrible, because of that I haven't seen it in almost two months!
haha...the Hype is over and still i can´t do anything else than simply let my thumb go up.!
awesome idea. fantastic stuff as per usual
Respect for fitting this in 177k, but apart from that this didn't impress me as much as it seems to have impressed others. And judging it as a demo I must say I find it a bit one-sided and boring, though it looks very polished.
I have lost count of how many times I have watched this prod. Stunning.

Debris reminds me of Dark City imdb.com.
LOL - thirst thing I viewed on my new hardware (8800 GTS, Intel Core Duo2 CPU) was Debris. It runs smooth with AA on highest resolution. The computer is "Debris approved", so I am a happy man now. B-) Someone should design a sticker for it.
KICKASS!
"KICKASS", and "sucks" at the same time?
thumb down was misstake my bad ; ;''
this is it. My favourite demo at the time..

Still nice, but Lifeforce gave it a run for its money ;)

another great farbrausch
sweet !
Holy cow !
Artistically, this demo didn't strike any chords, sorry. However, I'd be an ass not to acknowledge the technical achievement. Up they go.
Looks great, but is quite dull.
Sorry, I left a comment but forgot the thumb up. Here it is.
for the sake of bookkeeping, leaving my overdue thumb here

"Ryg wanted a realdemo, Chuck Norris gave him 177 kilobytes"
seen this a billion times and never thumbed it up. hmmmm
I guess I thought I already thumbed this. I remember seeing it veiled in MPEG compression artefacts on demoscene.tv during the party and thinking it couldn't possibly look as I imagined. It does.
it's like the dope of 2007 - technically impressive but boring, really.
what a dude give for this demo negative estimation?
havocplague rofl! ;)))
1000 thumb to this
1000 thumb to this
I don't know how I could have missed this one, I just saw it yesterday. A-fucking-mazing!!!
understand why this is so high rated =)
This is sizecoding!
Very good code!!
amazing what you can get out of that synth...

artsy, loud, refreshing
Great
Darkness! :D
Amazing prod! Love the music, too..
Thanks for the hires video.

It is really a shame, that this one got only one scene award for best direction.
Ok for being 144k Nice music

I really really like this one =) Congrats with all the rewards =)
When i saw this demo for first time i was like: "The O.O"
This is beautifully work :)
This is beautifully work :)
Wonderfully trippy, especially the end.
hund
good ,but how can i download it for preview?
Boring music and too slow paced for me...
the one to show people who have no idea what the demoscene is. i LOVE the soundtrack too. amazing job!
forgot the thumb :)
I love it! RUUUUULLLZZZZZ!!!!
Can I give this a second CDC, please? :)
My favourite demo of all time, i watch the streaming with crowd everyday. This demo gives me shivers every time! It is really a shame, that this one got only one scene award. If I ever decide to make a tatoo on my neck, this will be the word: 'debris' :) Maybe I need a therapist :)

yes you can ;)
whooaaaa ö_0 ... this just goes, BÄÄÄÄM !
i got a huge kick out of seeing this at last year's breakpoint, but it's really one of those things that doesn't bear watching again, imho.
who am I kidding, I might not find it the second coming of the christ like some others but it's certainly worth a thumb
I love this!
This might be the best demo of the world!
I love this oen
Bricks have been shat. Quality!
impressive demo, this movie afraid me better than a horror film, can't watch it before going to bed...
I forgot to thumb this, so here it is.
oh. yes.
my favorite demo
It's massive. It takes my breath away. It definitely is a solid piece both artistically and technically.
Kasparov is what I immediately drew comparisons to. They share the idea of a machine-generated world that at first look seems like a real one, the surface cracking to show the cold dark unreal nature. While Kasparov ultimately left it at that despite making the disconnect more and more apparent as the demo progressed, Debris ends in the extreme, ripping the whole world apart, leaving only static behind.
It's a really well designed whole where each and every part works toward the desired effect. Should not be missed.

Bah, forgot the thumb.
Always wanted to see this running properly, now I can and i'm bloody impressed. I just can't believe so much has been squeezed into such a small size. The whole thing just jells so perfectly. Grats.
well done
I found it extremely tedious. Cubes and buildings, I get it.
Maybe if I saw this at home and had a personal experience with the filesize and mood, but at a minor scene event where it was up on the big screen I just wanted it to go away and something more engaging to come up.

dont think i voted this one yet, but i have watched it on numerous occasions now so its a long overdue rulez from me.
Did I mention I absolutely ADORE this demo?
keito: "a minor scene event where it was up on the bigscreen" == breakpoint? wow...
wonderfully weird urban imagery, and technically amazing.
No originality. Technique is not all, and this demo has no heart or spirit.
I registered only to comment on this one :P I've watched all the best demos from scene in a row. All were amaizing but this one stood out from the rest because of one single thing - filesize. This demo does in ~180kB what other do in >10MB! It just blew my mind.
Apart from filesize I absolutely enjoyed the camera - realistic movements, zooming and even camera walking! Huge kudos and much respect to fiver2 and the whole farbrausch team.

Have I thumbed up this yet?
I love those guys guys who vote this down because it is not according to their 'taste'. Luckily most sceners have not forgotten the true roots of the demoscene, yet. It is complety fine to thumb up a demo based on technical merits only. If you disagree, please go to youtube.

wow Magic thanks for the live video links, watching it "live" really gives another level of appreciation.
huh? I haven't thumbed this yet? Gotta be kidding me. The one demo with the best camera work EVER. A milestone in demoscene history, and quite probably the best demo to date. The atmosphere at Breakpoint 2007 was phenomenal. Thanks for the experience, gentlemen! Well, everything has been said already.
rmeht: the 'k8to' who said what you quoted _is not_ me, if you look closely i am 'keito', i do use 'k8o' on irc sometimes but i dont know who that 'k8to' fella is, i dont do fake accounts so rest assured it isnt me.
Looks amazing!
perfect! is there anything else to do? or chapter finished with this one?
No I Have wow huh?
I love it

i bought a new comp just to watch it.
well done, but a bit long. the bass drum and the sound-effect rumbles are giving us a really nice boom at nvscene. :) i especially like the greets and the buildings crumbling.
Just watched chaos presentation of its creation with werkkzeug at nvscene. Fiver, you are insane!
Athough I complain alot about minor details in debris, it is sooo fucking great. I will never stop waiting for the final.

what everyone said.
love it! <3

maybe the best demo I have seen. Astonnishing and incredible.
can't wait for the next product. :)
I always loved farbrausch because of demos like this.
I am trying hard to find something I don't like in this demo.
like ChrisTOS, I fail at finding something I don't like about this one. Instant classic.
The live recording from the first showing at BP07 is great also.

I'm speechless.
I forgot: One of the few examples of how to make low-poly houses with textures look RIGHT rather than ugly (bonus +thumb given).
while I'm normally not a great fan of PC demos, I like the concept and camera movements in this one. thumb up because of the size.
the cityskape so sweet and familiar, and the action is funky as well // wish it had a decent music and tighter editing tho, fuck the size ;)
++
Really insane Stuff. Deserves the first Place in the all-time tops.
A fantastic technical AND aesthetical feat. Both visual and audial tracks are excellent.

Rocks! Music is not much my style but fits well. "Story" and imagery is excellent!
...Strange, pretty sure I voted for that one ;(
Anyway, great audio and camera, about storytelling and whatnot, well... :p

thumb up for tzaerus comment
very nice camera work and lighting. sound fx could have been better.
It seems that I have forgotten to rate the most famous demmos around here. Here's the thumb!
I vote only on the best production and this is the one!
i was never as impressed by this demo as some others have been... but that's nitpicking. this is a really fantastic piece of work. the shot where the cube starts to break up is one of my top demo moments of all time.
What they all said. Great!
Not my cup of mescaline tea. Some nice stuff but reminds me of german industrial complex
OF COURSE !!!
daaaaamn i mad of this!!
absolutely impressing. One of the greatest demos ever!
so overrated.
amazed! .. omg .. O_o ...
Awesome, can't believe I never rated this one yet.
nice demo, but a bit boring.. still a thumb up !
lol, haven't thumbed this
suck fuck
best of best
I liked it.
To long precalculation.
i just watched this again and found out i still totally hate it.
the city itself is kind of nicely done. but once that cube crap begins, i just want to turn it all off immediately. it's not even an impressive effect. a large cube breaking into smaller cubes which then fly away in random directions. and don't get my started on those dancing buildings. also the overall mood of the prod is just annoying as hell.
well, whatever, there goes my little hate speech for today =)

good
really dig the design in this one, can't believe i'm 3 years late to comment
boring 3d show
Breathtaking display of the end of the world in the eyes of Farbrausch.
Anyone who thumb-downs this has absolutely no appreciation for what a good demo is. What you get for the filesize is nothing short of impressive.
Classic.
This is not in my personal top10, but it's of course still very good.
//
this is great
Hey btw. Why is it THAT famous?
Hey this actually runs half decently on my netbook
Cubes. *Splosh*
superb!

This one simply rocks and it has great soundtrack.
The beez kneez!
CUBES :')
yeah well.
of course the direction and size of this prod are still incredible but after watching it about 100 times it all boils down to the massive abuse of cubes and tentacles.

Still an epic prod. I wish more groups put effort into making lightweight demos that impress.
No.
Even after three years, I fail to see what all the hype is about. Sure, it's an OK prod, and there's a lot packed into hundred-and-whatever kB, but there's where it stops for me.
I see it's changing other people's lives, though. :-)

It has ""noise" at the end :-)
How could I not have already voted for this one. Rocks hard.
Thumbs for the noise!
Well, the rest is pretty cool too.

No, I hate it. So you equate a demo which is not liked to someone who *can* string more than 1 line of C++ together.
Grow the fuck up.
well.
i loved this prod when i saw it live on the bp stream it is for sure a small technological wonder.
however - its rewatch-value is pretty low.. saw it maybe 4-5 times now and it doesnt get me anywhere anymore (opposed to i.e. the popular.demo).
i wouldnt call it "the best demo ever" or something but it sure as hell deserves thumbing.

I love and adore this one.
I could thumb it down because it's another cheap marketing success of Farbrausch - Bronx-like environment, Brooklyn bridge, it only lacks hip-hop soundtrack and black hoodies sitting around to be the alltime top #... oh wait, it IS alltime top #1!
Fortunately, the soundtrack is great, there are no hoodies, it's 177kb, and overall it's a fantastic demo.

how coule it be such a great work!

Yeah, the cubes are nice! :)
Fantastic. I love the soundtrack, fits perfectly with the cubeageddon.
little bit boring.
Wow. I randomly searched for demoscene, the last time I saw one was back when I had an A1200. I thought today's abundance of storage and CPU power had killed the scene. I am blown away by this (179k!!!) demo. Amazing!
Filesize, so damned cool scenes, unlimited cubes, killer soundtrack, insane camera work (plus+++ that fixed cam and the "eeek-i-need-to-protect-myself-but-oh-can-i-see-that-again-cam"), rotating pods and skyscrapers, THAT bridge, credits (tho i feel the sync is a bit goofed there)... and .hund!!! Can we ask for much more? My personal answer is "this demo is among the best ones ever done" and some random Obama quote... *cough*
meant greetings, not credits... typed in rush, sorry *double cough*
the cubes rule!
хуета канешно, но для немцев нормально
My favorite FR prod. The scene at 5:00 is just brainmelting.
so what's the dead about this? it's boring and is missing a message and inspiration
nothing i didn't see before
simply rulez
If i remember correctly, wasn't this released at The Gathering?
no, it wasn't.
But it's very kind of you to register for this site just to disagree with 893 others :)
I saw this again recently at @party Minidemo Montréal and, though I've seen it so many times already, I still get a certain chill down my spine when I see hund ripping apart the city streets.
cubes FTW! ;)
Yes !
amazing coding...
I see cubes
uberthumb!
Still amazing, five years later
GOD is a koder (also maybe its a kind of intelectual hobby)

Don't get the broohaha about the filesize, it's either 64k or not.

If your prod had a face I would kiss it.
just brilliant
Destroy, improove, rebuild. :)
Looks like Debris partially influenced the special effects makers behind the new movie 'Avengers' that is at the cinema atm - particularly the scenes involving the fish-shaped object in the climax ...
Can someone give 60FPS video of this demo???
The noise at the end sounds very similar to the one known from the Max Headroom pirate TV broadcast.

An alltime favorite of mine!
Arrrrgggg yes!
Still rulez, even today!
.
Wow. I liked the part at the end with the static.
Why have I not thumbed this yet?
What's there to say. A classic. My favorite part is where the strobe-light appears from underneath the tarmac as the bridge crumbles the surface. Camera movement is absolutely perfect and the few imperfections with shadows etc. really doesn't take away focus from all the brilliant content.
I didn’t thumb up Debris?!?!? Hello?!

just like the movie avengers
unbelievable, and only 177 K !!
After years I watched this nice prod again and it still simply RULES.
Thumb up for the filesize and overall techical achievement. Everything else did not like. So piggie.
Actually it matches a similar word in Russian much more than in English.
The Russian word "debri" (дебри) means jungle-like thicket and getting through it is like getting through a labyrinth. I watched this first about 3 years ago (and then I didn't know English meaning of this word) on Youtube and got a heavy impression like "these are true debri's!". If I knew about Pouet back then, I'd thumb it up. Now I don't see anything special in it. Technically a cool demo of "what a modern Шindoшs-based PC can do", but nothing more. I watched other Farbrausch demos and they were much more impressive.
Long live Farbrausch, long live demoscene, don't get lost in debri's and don't turn into debris!

This prod has memories attached, from not being able to run it on my older box - but still trying and getting a nice powerpoint at 320x240 to being the first prod I started whenever I got a machine under my hands.
Nowadays I just smile when I can run this without problems, and still enjoy every scene - from the looking out of the train scene, to the cube that is tearing apart over to the parking lot - and the equinox greetings make me giggle to today. The tune lights the visual fire even more, and of course it's perfectly synced to what happens visually.
It's massive in such a small size, unbelievable.

nice effect and scene are perfect to run it :)
oh yeah. insane. love it.
What a shock ! :O
stupid dog... he accidently the whole city!
definitely HUND!
It's still good, although somehow it doesn't connect to me the way it apparently connects to everybody else. Not sure why, but I miss some soul in there, like in many FR demos... *blasphemy*
I was on a long break from the demo scene at the time this was released so I don't have any emotional or nostalgic connection to this demo. However I can see the cool concept and design and code behind this and I appreciate that it was something that made a big impact at the time. This deserves a thumb out of respect.

No comment needed! Just watch this masterpiece and and enjoy!
The engine has some quirks particularly apparent here, or maybe it's just the graphical style. In any case, the modelling is a tad blocky for my taste, and the surfaces a tad plain. I never really understood the hype apart from the obvious factors (i.e. mainly size). It's the direction that plays the key role here, and that's what the thumb goes for.
Where's my thumb? Milestone demo!
No thumb? Heh, better late than never :) Still amazing stuff!
One of the best! Only the music is annoying at the end.

When I want to show what the demoscene is capable of to a non scener, this is where I usually go. Then I mention which year it was released, that it's a realtime app, and the filesize. ;)
Time flies, but this is still "Wow, wow, wow!!!"
still stunning
Finally got to see this one in 4K resolution and it looks very good and sharp. This is a demo i have to run atleast once a year :)
Oh yeah ! Very good work <3 I love that demoscene.
farbrausch is my favorite group
Culmination total. This is the type of production that we do not really deliver. THIS is the demoscene.
Very stylish and enjoyable.
Superlative in so many levels - an eternal favorite.
Just amazing, how this engine/sound/textures could fit in 177kb? I know it has it's years but it's amazing to see it running at a great framerate on an older computer like mine, just incredible work. That dancing railway was so damn cool, also great job on the physics. Best demo

Technical marvel, but they forgot to make if look and sound nice!
What I mean is, there is gfx and music design, but the result is artistically unsatisfactory for me.

This is the first ever demo I ever saw. I am in love with the Demoscene!
Extremely cool! Like a Hollywood production but better!
best ever
this has never ceased to amaze me since the day back i saw it on that old pentium thing , it just keeps scaling
This is SO FANTASTIC because I need not to just turn up the volume to maximum during some scenes but adjust the laptop screen brightness
Back then when I worked in computer hardware/software sales for a while I was so amazed and impressed by this demo I copied it over to the flagship notebooks in the showroom and ran it. Audience most interested and understanding was the younger one, the older visitors were, more often you would see a more or less disgusted or out-of-place face on them. After a while of having had the pleasure being asked "what kind of weird computer techno rubbish" that would be numerous times, I proudly (and loudly so everyone else in the showroom could hear) explained to one of them that this was a technological and cultural experiment from top artists around the world translating van gogh and paul gaugin art into what it would like in the digital world. Half of the showroom was like "oohhh, awwww, wooowww!". A memory that still makes me laugh today :D
Long forgotten thumb. Still remember the goosebumps it gave me while shown on the bigscreen
This is fantastic
nope, notin here.
every one and then I come back to this masterpiece, watch it again in all it's brutal beauty and massiveness. it has aged well and looks super crisp in 4k res
You must be demigods of coding
That's nice, but at this point it might be better to use a "karma decay" scoring algorithm, eg: -1 point per week since release in an "abstract" way, it might make the left column on the website more dynamic. Else weird ranking.
As far as I've understood, something equivalent to that already exists and is implemented. There's just a lot of staying power with some of these…
simply awesome
all of this in 128kb???? absolutely stunning... +_+
Inception before Inception.
Congrats on your 800th thumb up. Here's to another decade at the all-time top!
.
kewl.
Dune earthworm bridges!
yes
In love with this one.
Even after like 16 years this could win compos. Sure it looks a tiny bit dated, but the soundtrack and "cinematography" hold up superbly.
A classic demo.
true epic
Epic!
first demo i ever saw. got me into the demoscene. absolutely amazing
After 15 years, it's still impressive, not because of RTX, DLSS, or other fancy features, but because of its design, compact size, and demoscene's spirit.
absolutely not surprised its still number one unbeaten, this must be the youtube video that made me dig back into it al those years ago (and then lost it again and so many years later etc etc ..) unbeaten !
Amazing. I love music too

and I want to add that not only is there no need for RTX, DLSS and other hardware but the demo still works without problem under Win10 and a GTX 770 so the code should be quite clean !
Of course it's not the only demo but regardless it's actually worth saying
