ATARI suxx !
added on the 2000-09-09 11:00:49 by rez
no, i joke, it's a really great demo with nice effect and gfx... that demo is designed like an amiga demo, that's why i like it ;))
I have seen 2-3-4 Atari demos until now.. :P
This one too! Atari St seems to me more to have Codewise demos while Amiga has Designwise. This one has great code as always, but also some nice design too!
Atari rulez definitelly! =)

This demo kicks unbelievable ass :) I can't wait to get my monitor-to-scart cable fixed, so I can see it on a real ST, in stead of a crappy emu.
I love it!
Great demo, 50fps 4 ever ! ;)
aye! i think this was the one which blew my socks off and i started to think if i shouldnt throw my amiga away ;) nahh still one which proves - ATARI ROXXORZ!!!
design AND 50hz all the way... what more can you ask for? :-)
one of the best demo i've ever seen ...
EQUINOX ROXX

better late than never this Escape is really a great trip in fast and furious smoothness ! Come on now Keops and show us a bit more you lazy ass :)
Really great demos: good music, beautiful gfx and... impressive code, of course!
I love some effects, especially the ball with the stars & the 3D bird. The hidden part is really oldschool but goodschool :)
Cheers,
Brume.

A must have!
DRAGONBALL!!!!
The intro music is great, so is the demo, at least for 1993.
How can I get that cylinder secret screenshot?
Amazing!
groovy demo!
*criticizes* :DD
keops you rock :D
keops you rock :D
Great demo, no fullscreen in this one, but surely one of the *very* best demo ever on ST !
Looks like a copy of Amiga demos.. BTW, Amiga won the Amiga vs Atari war! ;-D
save the good old days :)
r0qz!
the best demo i ever saw on Atari ! Keops you rocks !
Keops: I guess the dragon ball was a bit too much for me.. It's bad enough groups copied it on the Amiga, it's such a unique effect.. If you've seen it in the original, no need to see it any more.
And true, I didn't actually watch it, that's why I neither thumbed it up nor down. But I've seen a couple of ST demos, they were nice. The only one I can really remember is the one which has the chicken/egg thing which is also used in one of Budbrain's megademos.

Frikkin wow. Need osX st emu (:

Yeah, this demo "rocked de pan uit" as we say in Holland. And you just got to love the music behind the end scroller.
Well done for an Atari production!

Brilliant!
Better late then never... very nice demo, but you can see and smell ... ;)... that it should have been released about 6 years earlier...
Simply brilliant. Equinox at its best. Much better than a lot of the new ST scene prods. The oldschool still kicks ass.
design and codewise brilliant, but i don't dig the music..

How could I have forgotten to thumb this before? Anyway, here goes..
2007, I watch an Atari demo for the first time in my life. And I fear it will be all down hill from here. This must represent a high point in the history of the atari demoscene. Great stuff in here! I'm not sure how it worked on atari, but my sources tell me that there was no blitter or copper. You poor bastards.
Hmm, i thought I thumbed this up already. Oh well :)
I don't have anything to add that havn't already been said. My favorite ST demo!

Great Atari ST demo.
My fave Equinox prod, great Mad Max music at the end too.
great Atari prod from Equinox ! keops rulez ;)
Unbelievably cool!
great demo...
also great in delay... but i can do better ;))
also great in delay... but i can do better ;))
Why? he already won the "most delayed ST demo" battle :P
Stingray: I'm not quite sure if he is on top right now :) ... there might be a few others but the possibility of seing them is not that huge than seing heftig one day :)
Quote:

He's meaning he can do better in the delaying, obviously!
From memory, I remember the first pre-screener of Heftig, or what was supposed to become it being shown at the first Error in Line party which was Easter 1999.
impossible!
Great demo, one of my fave ones ! Thanks Equinox !
I forgot to thumb up, damn lamer !
wow, I did a falcon demo that did not look much better :D
seppjo: which falcon demo is that in particular? dont know of one by risk, iirc
awesome!
Amazing how much time people can put in producing demos in old machiine. :) Great work.
Superb demo... I would say their best one. Equinox rulez!
fiveoffive: hm some parts of "back to the roots" looked like that. unfinished, unreleased & I don't have it anymore. it's a shame. I'm a damn lamer.
j'ai pas le codec :(
GREAT!!! I didn't realise Keops was behind this, but it makes sense.
Thumbaroonie as the Italians would say!
Thumbaroonie as the Italians would say!
i don't have the real machine :(
videos are a quick and easy way to watch those demos at work during a pause without installing emulators on your dev env :)

great musaxxs and all kind of cool fx ... nice to have a demo in 1999 from all those old-skoolers ...
<3
The BeST demo I've ever seen!
only atari makes it possible
really good stuff! I just saw it the first time. cool ST demo... this motivates me to hook up my old Mega ST and create a ... what was it called.. a "floppy disk" :-)
Wtf, didn't i thumb it down already? I guess it would have been neat in 1991, on another machine...
lenski ... take your medicine ;)
Fucking ace demo. But I smell a lamer here, quite close to the end of the thread...
It rules. And of course lenski sucks big time.
Impressive stuff!
Classic Atari ST Stuff :)
Fucking great ONE!!! EVERYTHING ROXX in this demo!!
Respect brothers! :)
Respect brothers! :)
Even thou i'm not a fan of the Atari ST sound chip, this is a cool demo.
One of the best st demos.
this was really entertaining
Yeehaa!
What can i say ... Best design by Nova, Best piece of Code by Keops Starlion and Furax (endpart ?), a real DEMO in the right spirit of the scene, using all technicals created on ATARI ST. Really a fantactic work : "chapeau l'artiste"
Thumb up not working in first one so here it is ;-)
Real trackmo indeed. Also fun to watch.
Cool stuff!
enjoyable
Aaahh yeaah!
Mighty impressive!
And keep in mind - it runs on 512K Ram machines too !
Astounding
Very nice recreation of some classic Amiga effects, impressive to get those running so well on a standard ST!
Mega birthday thumbs up. Awesome code.
I'm highly surprised I haven't put here any comments. It's time to fix this scandalous mistake.
THIS IS *INCREDIBLE*! FANTASTIC DEMO FOR PURE 520ST!!! It _doesn't_ even need 1Mb!!
I LOVE YOU GUYS! :) This demo shows the true power of ST series.
In my humble opinion it's the best demo for these machines, even in comparison to STe 4Mb.
Btw, I do hope Your work with ST 520 isn't finished yet!!!!!!!!
Byez.

ataaariii

Really great Atari 16bit demo!
For the standard ST, 512K... hard to believe.
total rules!
Madmax rules :) (and all Equinox of course)
Reality is Atari !
OMG I never rated this one.
This is probably the best demo ever on 520 ST.
This is probably the best demo ever on 520 ST.
nice visuals, but the music.... nah.....
Well, I was mostly an Amiga guy, although I did at one point get a 1040STe for Cubase.
But this demo is just amazing. What I always liked about Amiga was the smooth graphics, ncie 3D and such. Atari demos never seemed to reach that level of sophistication.
But this demo does! It's just incredibly smooth, and with some pretty impressive 3D!
The music is very good as well, considering the platform, although it doesn't quite reach Amiga standards.

Great stuff.
too much great effects for my brain! awesome! <3
One of my all-time favourite ST demos. Loved Furax's music too!
rules!
Finally seen this on real HW. I've thumbed it up before, but I must comment again. Now that I know a bit more about AtariST hardware, this is even more impressive, getting these Amiga-like effects running on a machine with no blitter and no copper is amazing. Either there are some HW tricks on the ST that I'm not familiar with, or this is some almost magic 68000-code to make these effects run this good (or perhaps both!) :)
One of the best demos released on the ST, ever! IMPRESSIVE!
fantastic!
super coolish package of design
nice
finally saw the capture, this is brillant
Nice Best of oldschool effects show....and the music rockz :)
Really good oldschool demo. I finally watched the hidden part. And it fucking rulez!
Epic.
The end-part theme was in my 1-title playlist for hours.

I never commented that demo? One of the best technical ATARI demo. The fact that it runs on 512KiB machine is even more impressive!
Nice Amiga demo on Atari ST.
Great demo!
Cool, smooth, Amiga-like :)
Nice one.
Nice demo with wonderful music.
Great demo featuring the best 3d routs ever done on ST.
Wow!
I repeat myself - this is sooo amazing. One of a few Atari demos with a pure style!
Awesome vortex, cool graphics!
Very cool demo! I ran this on Hatari.
How do I transfer the MSA file to a floppy so I can run it on my 1040 STe?
How do I transfer the MSA file to a floppy so I can run it on my 1040 STe?
I was able to transfer the file. The links above got me thinking of new search terms to pump into Google Eventually I found a blog post by James Mackenzie. He shows how to break up the large MSA file into smaller chunks with ARJ. Run UnARJ on the STe to reassemble and decompress the MSA. Then I ran MSA on my STe and *voila*! :-D Very, very cool! I loved figuring this out and running the demo. My STe is NTSC (60Hz, North American) so the demo ran faster and caused my Framemeister to glitch a bit.
rulez (although msx could be better)
Impressive!
It's very nice. Excellent design and execution. But for 1999 there are a lot of 1990 effects.
Great demo!
Awesome!!
Definitely not many 1990 effects..lol.. most of these are more like things that were appearing a year or 2 later in Amiga demos :)

Wow!
Quote:
Nosferatu: indeed, it's because we made it almost entirely in 1992 / 1993 but we never finished it back then (lack of motivation, studies etc) despite being almost done.
In 1999, we decided to take a few days to finish it, so we made the missing loader, added an end part and we released it.
Yeah... Sometimes the last 10% looks like a 200% process. And often it is!
Kudos for taking your time and finishing what has been started so many years earlier!
Yeah!
Amazing stuff! Top-notch!
Lovely!
Wondeful demo with strong effects, dynamic transitions and a memorable main musical theme.
