Damn, Enlight 97 really was the Spectrum scene's own Woodstock, wasn't it? Thumb up for making me feel nostalgic for an event I wasn't even at :-D

I'm sure it's a good feat of coding, but it really shows how primitive the Spectrum is compared to the C64!

The spinning torus was damn impressive though...or was that an animation?

It is a nice funny piece of work from F_VI and his CZ crew. I like this time machine idea.
PS: in 1997 standard was Pentagon on demoscene, and GS started to get obsolete back then. :)

abscess, Wrong, it's not CZ guys. 2 more lives left :)

Every time not moving forward, not doing fresh effects you are killing the platform.

Rulez! I felt such a deep nostalgy when I was watching this splendid demo... We (me and Dron) attended Enlight 97 --- being the most western sceners there. :) Thanks for your greeting (K3L)! :)

Well, and I really think the prod is nice and good. This time the purpose itself was to make "retro" atmoshpere - and it has been achieved. So - good work. (And actually I liked the 'techno' main song somehow :) ).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxEENinCTTk - this youtube version is way more accurate. Other version has some serious sync problems.
Otherwise, thank you all! We love you do.

I have found out it crashes on standard +2, +2A and +3 Speccies. It is another, extremely important feature of 1997 Russian demos. :) It seems the chessboard effect lasts more than 70930 tacts and when the interrupt routine is called the stack is still in VRAM. A typical 1997 error :) - I fixed it in many demos from Digital Reality, Tankard etc. Nice you wanted to be 100 % retro!
added on the 2011-07-28 18:50:07 by Eye Eye
I am sorry - not only Russian but Ukrainian, Belorussian and Latvian demos, too. In a word, it is a quite common feature of 1997 Pentagon demos...

A classic oldskool demo, of the same breed from which Codebusters' and Seamans' creations come. If it wasn't for the texts which clearly mention it was done in 2011, I'd say it comes from that era.

Confident, visceral and sleek. It pretends to be oldschool, but as is often the case with nostalgic demos of this kind, the past is rose-tinted. The *real* oldschool demos were never put together this well.

great
Nice start with presentation and very driving music, but crashes on my ZX+2 after the wobbly checkerboard (that is already being glitched). So no thumb.
