I am a bit like Skate in this, too lazy to fire up an emulator but know that it rules, 1k glenz :)

hmm, only get the logo in WinUAE, but maybe your trickery just only works on the real thing :)
nice achievement :)

Nicely done. And certain people have some serious emulator using problems :)

Waiting for the hand-painted version in Photoshop.

Bootblock glenz vector - cool! :)

Ok but nothing impressive. Tron/Anarchy did the same years ago. No thumb for misspelling my name in the info. :)

Typo fixed. Who's Tron/Anarchy ?
added on the 2011-05-10 20:31:31 by hitchhikr hitchhikr
The guy who later went to Sanity, Artwork and Farbrausch. :)
I believe that glenzboot won the bootblock compo organized by the eurochart in 92 (the bootblocks are packed on the Eurochart 17 disk)
Didn't know Tron was in Anarchy before being in Sanity and i didn't know about this competition either, although his bootblock got no logo (which here is approx 100 bytes including the code to display it) it exits and this one doesn't but i think mine still looks better also afaik this is the first packed bootblock around.

Yepp, nothing like beating a 19 year old production..
Thumbs up for doing semi-interesting bootblocks in '11 though. :)

Haha, cool :)

Korvkiosken: You're talking as if beating great code has anything to with when it was written. That reasoning only works for non-platforms, where hardware upgrades picks up the coder slack.

And even the best coders would have trouble doing glenz in 1K. Don't talk like it's easy as pi. ;)

A thumb for using compression in a bootblock. It could be interesting to hear more about how you arrived at the particular compression scheme you use. Did you experiment with tradeoffs between compression efficiency and decompressor size?
rulez added on the 2012-02-23 13:36:15 by Blueberry Blueberry
Lovely, 1k glenz ftw!!
rulez added on the 2012-07-23 18:39:08 by Fell Fell
Speaking about compression for <1k code for 68k, i used byte oriented lz77 then word oriented lz77 in my Atari bootsectors demos (480 bytes, sources are included).
I would be happy to have some details about your compression method.

Really nice!

baah: decompression code starts at offset 12 in onion.peel.bb. Looks like the tiny depacker whose source is included with PackFire.
