Big thanks to Evil^GlenZ for the music.
Note that the music is a Decibeats live performance.

We are willing to improve the gameplay so don't hesitate to complain :)

very cool
aiming should be explained more though (or made better)
and you should show the instructions also at the beginning
rulez added on the 2009-11-10 12:39:25 by whynot2000 whynot2000
is there a trick? dealing with the inertia is nearly impossible :(
Found it quite hard to aim while steering, otherwise this seems like a fun game.
Soundtrack and presentation rules.

Confused: we are working on faster bullets for the player, which should make it less painful to deal with inertia and aim.
thx for feeds
added on the 2009-11-10 22:23:16 by ponce ponce
The fact that the bullets go mainly in the direction of the ship's velocity vector make it almost unplayable but nice otherwise :)

New version here which should fix the gameplay a bit.

v1.1:
- variable time step, should be smooth everywhere
- bullet go more into the player's direction
- aiming is a bit easier
- fixed camera bug with bullet time

Thumb up for the soundtrack alone :)
The game's ok.
rulez added on the 2009-11-11 12:59:31 by xernobyl xernobyl
ok this is definitely better!

basically, since real physics are so hard to deal with as opposed to arcade physics, my suggestion for this kind of thing is to have some interface or reticle that helps you plan your trajectory, like something that tells you where your inertia would take you
i think other games do this but i'm not sure, it's a cool thing anyway and yeah i like the soundtrack

me and my 4 years old kid love it ! Would it be possible to have a cheat mode for him ?
Great indeed!

New version here with various changes.

v1.2:
- bullet time must be triggered with SPACE
- Z, X and C as alternative keys
- wait 1 sec before replay
- joystick catch button now works like SPACE (catch only one powerup)

This is great! My eyes burn from playing. :)

Can you make the main window zoom in and out based on your speed?

sure, you're the second person to ask for that.

highly addictive
nice one!
rulez added on the 2009-11-21 18:21:16 by nula nula
Great game! So simple, so addictive!
P.S. May I suggest friendly fire option ? (player should get damage from his own rockets imho)
rulez added on the 2009-11-21 19:32:24 by masterm masterm
masterm: why not. It was already asked elsewhere.

#ponce: Is there any chance of you sending me the source? I would gladly add multiplayer then. :) (if so mail me at: my_firstname@my_lastname.pl)
added on the 2009-11-24 12:54:29 by masterm masterm
The source code is surprinsingly CRAPPY. It was quite a direct port of an older Pascal program.

There is too much globals, states everywhere and no encapsulation...

So it may be painful to add anything, but i plan to clean up all these bits and setup a SVN or something since i've seen a lot of feature request now :).
added on the 2009-11-24 13:37:06 by ponce ponce
Well then I hope the game itself is in some more humane language like C or C++ (you would not have rewritten a pascal program in pascal would you? :) ) Let me know when you finish the cleaning process. With commit access to the svn I'll surely add networking code. This game is just too good to be singleplayer only! :)
added on the 2009-11-25 09:01:29 by masterm masterm
I'll let you know. The game is in D, a super-humane language ;) and you'll do whatever you want about it.

Which system is required ? Its hardly playable here with my x1600.
added on the 2009-11-30 06:26:45 by Zweckform Zweckform
It's hardly optimized (sorry), you might be either CPU-bound or GPU-bound (or both)

Visibe area should be bigger for better playability and less random hits ad misses.
Apart from that, the soundtrack kicks ass!

New version here which should fix compatibility issues.

v1.3:
- installer
- should be ATI x1000 and ATI HD compatible
- should fallback in degraded mode automatically
- small gameplay changes (less powerups in high levels, turbo a bit more powerful and costly, weaker auto-aiming)
added on the 2010-07-10 02:40:53 by ponce ponce
Loose the installer.
added on the 2010-07-10 04:07:36 by xernobyl xernobyl
OK, last release broke the degraded mode, a new release is to be expected soon.
added on the 2010-07-21 16:08:28 by ponce ponce
Degraded mode fixed (works on Intel GMA!), but the ATI HD compatibility is broken in v1.3. Use v1.2 in that case.

v1.3
v1.2

Yet another "final" version here.

Vibrant v1.4 changes:

 • ATI HD compatibility
 • Intel GMA compatibility
 • fixed icons in Windows 7 and small bugs
 • alternate controls: WASD + mouse
 •
• left button: fire
 • right button: turbo
 • mouse wheel : catch powerup
