It's not that I have a problem with dancing and drinking, it's this need to announce it and broadcast videos of it that's embarrassing.

i really like that wade and paranoid complains about this production. from what i can see the people featured in the video have been far more productive in terms of releasing demos at parties than the two of you.
i agree that boozing can be done at your local in. however, boozing with your competitiors/friends from the demoscene is rather difficult to do at the local in.

The ratio between vids of pale obese men puking & dancing and the actual demos must be around 1/1000, so i think comments like "i remember a time when the demoscene was about demos" are quite far-fetched, especially in "wildest wild" compo category.

i actually became amused by the reverse footage :) that said, i think the youtube version gets it right: what i saw was a lot more idiosyncratic to the finnish demoscene than the general one (explained by the fact that it's 90% finnish people on the video)

I have fun with friends every week, go out places, dance, joke and flirt...and there are women there too, so I really have no purpose for your definition of scene. This is what I do when I'm behind a computer and I like following demos because they inspire my own graphics work.

Disregarding the discussion above, watching ugly men do stupid things while being drunk is no fun - except perhaps for those involved ("heh, those were good times!"). That's all fine but I kind of wish it stayed between those involved, however I suppose since it was released at a party for completionists' sake it makes sense to put it on pouet too. If then disliking it makes me someone who "bitches in productions on pouet", so be it :)

I'd return the favour (because this prod really is tripe), but i'm not so petty and spiteful as to do that.
Everyones demoscene is personal to them, and i would never tell a person one way is better over another, i just personaly prefer the creative and artistic side of things over the mindless boozing side which i can do anytime i want at the weekend with freinds.
The demoscene social aspect is nice dont get me wrong & theres nothing wrong in having a drink or gettibg wasted, but doing one thing in the extreme doesent always have to be the way all the time. You were very kind to us when we visited Helsinki Nosfe, for which i am still very grateful and am yet to return the favour, and while i respect your choice in style with the Noise demos, this is just a little bit immature, imo :)

Video was done hurry in one hour, clips picked from several parties, and it was supposed to be a normal coverage what demoscene was, is, and will be at the parties, i had no clue some tight-ass fuck-ups will get offended with this harmless joyride, which is mostly filmed in finland with the finnish sceners, but i know with experience it's all the same in other countries.
My goal was to show to the ignorant people, we can have fun too, even puking is fun, if you do it right! Did you see any coding on it? I guess not.... Would you like to see any demo making on wild entry? Hopefully not!

And: "Real party is outside" rocks. But without the stuff going on inside and onscreen it just would be the ordinary boring boozing crap. "Real party is outside in 2 minutes" would have been a fitting title and would have been worth a thumb up.

raven, would you bother to read the credits. i didnt do this one. i just happen to be in the video, and thus i take it personally when a lamer who's visited less parties than i've organized goes on saying how people in this video aren't active or true demosceners.
it's a funny prod about people partying at demoparties, it's intend is not to define that this is all that demoparties are, but it just shows one side of it. i've been to about hundred different demoparties and i completely disagree with you that this 'doesn't reflect demoparties and what it's all about at all' if you haven't seen people boozing, dancing and enjoying themselves at parties, you've been to completely wrong demoparties then and i feel sorry for you.

@nosfe: I HAVE read the nfo and I KNEW that you didn't do this one. Seeing you quite a lot in this production I just wanted to mention that I liked the stuff YOU did mostly. Could've been told by me a bit more precise I admit.
But I really don't think that Wade is a lamer, just because he hasn't visited a demoparty for quite a time. Nor are the people lamers that did that video. Wade contributes the demoscene with his graphics. The people that did the video took part in the Wild competition. You contribute with your demos. In my definition you're all demosceners with just different fields of activities.
I guess there are just different opinions what the most important aspects of the demoscene are. ;)

This is certainly not about our everyday reality, it is more about what may happen if we get together
to cheer on our achievements.

RA: as mentioned several times before, this was not meant to be 1:1 accurate compilation of the entirity of the demoscene. This was merely a montage of the more entertaining aspects inherent in the scene. I admit the title could've been something else but what is done is done :)
Duncan and I still stand behind our main idea, which was to include mainly footage of lively action, solely for entertainment purposes. Not to mention we did not have a whole lot of footage to begin with. And the entry itself was a joke to get a lot of finnish sceners to see themselves on the bigscreen. Also: the production was done in 3hrs flat, 2hrs to make the song and 1h of editing.
