The dancing was very static (it must not be easy to animate dancing ppl) and some of the poses look awkward. The demo could have done with more work on the animation.
However, i really like this demo a lot. Great atmosphere and some fresh and well designed parts and ideas. Could have done with slightly less 3D object show and more of those other lovely yummy effects.

nice visuals, but the music is so misplaced it's unbelievable, and as britelite said, the execution is horrible, I wasn't enjoying this one bit, sad to say.
Absolutely terrible music. Some really nice design touches. I'm reserving my thumb until i see how fast it runs on a real amiga.

What z5 said. Just about creeps a thumb from me because of some of the effects, not the dancers though ;p

It's nice to see Elude doing a demo in a totally different style, however, I don't like it much I'm afraid. Music is well done but absolutely not my cup of tea, visuals weren't that great either (specially the anims). Will also delay my final judgement until I've seen it on the real deal.
If only this Step by Step was released at a party called Elude...

- disco/funk-theme is soooo 1998/1999/2000/2001/2002/2003/2004/2005/2006/2007/2008/2009.. it's not funny anymore and has not been for years
- music is not my taste and doesn't fit the theme/visuals

Absolutely superb! Best elude demo so far. Not boring tbl-copy/3dflyby for once! GRATS! With some better syncing of the dancework and the music this would be outstanding.

Imho other ones prods by Elude are better, but this one good too. Not so good music maybe, and animation of ppls a bit "bad", but demo itself still nice, with nice effects , and still quality. Also works fine on Morphos.

i'm feeling a sense of Uncanny Valley here. But it's still a great prod!
but overall, it's not a good idea to base an entire demo on humaniods. even with great animation, it doesnt work well

Looks fresh (not the usual somewhat epic stuff) but I just can't bear the music at all.

Well... I think this prod needs a few words of an explanation. First and most important thing - this is NOT a final version. In fact this is not even what we could call "party version". It's just a "work in progress" - so dont't be afraid, lot's of things (including some anims ;) will be changed/fixed/or deleted.Why we decided to release unfinished production? Imho the best way to say "thank you" to party-orgs is contributing to it with a release. I think this unfinished demo was better than nothing. We just forgot to say to orgas "don't spread this after party, we put funished demo max 2 weeks later".
Second thing - music. Uhmm... I can't understand why some of you blame Chaser for using someone vocal - lot's of musicans do that. All music is not ripped or stolen... so stop talking bullshit (hi pohar) - and start thinking. If you wanna judge Chaser maybe you should listen to his other stuff? BTW - it was my idea to use Rihanna's voice from exactly this song. Why? - well lirycs are so stupid, that make me smile - Kiero and Chaser agreed with me.

@Ubik: once you know what terminology was used in the song the lyrics become not stupid or profane ... "creepy" is a rather good description.

While I agree that the vocals in this (and in Hyperventilation, for that matter) have high entertainment value, there is no point in arguing about ripping or not. If you took someone elses work and used it in your own (funny/well done or not), you ripped it. It's as simple as that :)
I guess it's easy to pick fault with this demo, but I enjoyed it.
While most demos today are Tron rippoffs, inside jokes or are trying desperately to be perceived as art, it was nice to see something so fun and entertaining.

okkie ... remember that line that it's a "loooong haul" and "out there"; the whole analysis is 3 parts(!). You won't get the whole arc as long as you don't allow yourself the 'question'.

not all bad but the style isn't my thing at all and neither is remixing rihanna. (abba is totally different since it's so cheesy it's funny) Also a lot of the parts are kinda slideshowish on amiga.

I actually thought this was pretty damn refreshing. I wish more groups were taking a bit more of a lighthearted approach instead of taking everything so damn seriously. Keep up the great job, Elude.

Well, the remix is at least better than the original version and the demo has some nice ideas. Its not the best from Elude (or MDW) but its different compared to the regular stuff which gives some freshness. Even its not finished yet I will give a thumb up.
Cool effects and generally good fun - looking forward to a final with improved animation!

Things are no longer funny when you see them for 531535523 time, there's no originality in this demo whatsoever, and the soundtrack is just baaad. Sorry.

Hm, musicbuffer breaks a bit into 1st dancescene and then music plays choppy all the demo through and 3D scenes are about 1-3 FPS, on A1200/060@80. Does it depend on any patches beyond SetPatch43_6b? Or some other reason? I've addbuffers 500 and shove the shell log to > NIL:

@photon: hmm, there should be watchable version available already (final from the links above) which is said to work ok-ish on 060/60. certainly should be better than 1-3 fps you are getting;)
