Total Blockparty ownage!
2009-04-20
Blockparty 2009 was a total success. Virt won both the main music competition with his track Lorem Ipsum (to be added here shortly), and the oldschool music competition. And as if that wasn't enough, he also wrote the soundtrack for the winning demo by Northern Dragons. All in all: three 1st places and total Blockparty ownage. Congratulations, sir Virt!

Excellent colour scheme.
Contrary to the gros of the artsy BP PC demo releases this actually could air on Arte.
Scenery changes before it gets annoying and that's the twist.

some more variety would have been nice, but what's there is good.

Liked the concept, but hated the music (worst thing virt ever did, I think, most of his other stuff is pretty awesome) and overall execution.

concept ROCKS .. but some more action would have been nice, still worth a thumb for the concept

very creative, but when the drums kick in, something, ANYTHING, should happen. scroll it, warp it, put some cubes and ribbons in front, but one mosaic effect just isn't enough for me.

I liked it! Perhaps it's easier for me to appreciate as someone outside of the scene... I find the lack of rotating orbs and twisting ribbons rather nice!

I'm pretty close to thumbing it down - first 20 seconds I really liked the paint synched to the piano. After that I got really bored and the sync to the distortions wasn't really tight enough.

Cool (and ambitious) idea. Maybe it could've been better exploited but still, here's a thumbs up.

This demo wasnt kind of good, but on the other hand it was very...crappy.

But the music! ...was also sucky...

I'm glad to see that some guys create original things and i think they have to be stimulated :)
