really should have turned on dithering for that screen shot... Great party coding effort though.

This is an "extreme party version", as in "extremely rushed". I've discovered a lot of optimisations since, but I've decided to let this one be.
sh0ck came through with a beautiful effect (featured in the screenshot) after starting the day with virtually zero knowledge of canvas programming. (!!) It definitely made a huge difference to the overall impact of the prod, so thanks man!
It only works in Firefox 3 because of some FF-only text rendering techniques.
Next year I'll start my prod a bit earlier... ;-)
