argh, i'm so annoyed because (apart from the chase scene) I barely remember the original! :( I'll have to watch it again soon, to see how accurate your scene translations are. But regarless, this is a great effort and really enjoyable to watch. :) Is there anywhere I can download the track??

there will always be fanboys who equate the remake of an amiga demo to a caricature of the prophet muhammed.

for me it loses a lot of the charm of the original vector/pixelart mixture, but the remixed tunes and thought shown in the remixed scenes are well above average

It doesn't look like Lord of the Rings, but a well done remix. The music was great!

Well, i have seen better scenes and models, but the end result is nice to see. (Maybe i´m just spoiled of HBC. :) )

auquaman: when you are in contact with the group organizer, and you know specifically the that group does not want to make new versions/mixes of the demo, it's usually considered bad taste to do otherwise.

Daxx the "god damn problem" is you, since you knew that atz did not want any remakes. you could easily take the 3d work and your music and do your own space journey animation, and i would have been the first to applaud your efforts. in my opinion all this shows no respect to the wishes of others.

daxx, the orgainser of atz told you specifically that the group does not want to see this demo reincarnated, why did you do it? maybe because you wanted to join atz and couldn't and now you want to show that no one can hold you back? in my opinion it's just a matter of lack of respect.

Hooray for genericpanels.tga :) Not as bad as I feared. Showed some effort, and the music remakes were decent.

Okay, the 3D may look a bit outdated but you can clearly see that quite a lot of time has been spent doing that prod (and the remixes are quite good actually). Dedication and effort = true demoscene spirit IMHO.

Piggy because I still think Odissey was (is) one of the most boring demo I ever saw on the Amiga. Sure it had nice technics, nice music, nice models, nice ripped explosion animation, etc... but watching the same thing over and over was like an advanced form of torture. The kind of demo you would show to other people how powerful the amiga is, until you decided to reuse the floppies for something actually interesting :)

That being said, you could reuse your assets to do something that would be a lot more interesting than the original "story".

ok guys, even if I knew whether s7ing and/or ATZ said that THEY never will do a remake and/or 2nd part of Odyssey OR he/they actually said they don´t want anybody ELSE (as well) to do so, I would still judge this prod as it deserves to be judged: I watched it, I listened to it, I even inhaled, but I totally forgot the reference to the original demo ---- that said: this is not massive, but deserves massive respect. whether it was 2 years of work or "just" one: I don´t care. there is a hell lot of effort and work which has been put into this, and although this is "just" lightwave and some modelling/animating looks rather ... well.... old-schoolish, I clearly recognize and see all the effort, I had a good time watching this, smiling almost all the way...... the music is of course better than the gfx are... but that is not the point. here we have a clear result of passion, loads of work and reference.
that is enough for me. mop: you are taking this issue too seriously. i dont think that despite the fact that daxx and his mates KNEW (IF they knew) that ATZ did not want and even .... errr.. forbid (?grammar someone?) to "remake" it, they just did all this work to piss ATZ or one/some of ATZ´s members off...... ok? this prod is at least nice, and so should we judge it all. AMEN.

"AMEN" - my ass: just if someone would want to ask resulting from my voting here: if someone WOULD want to do a remake of MENTAL HANGOVER, I would clearly say :"Don´t ask ME, ask the guys who did it." - that would be no question/issue of copyright, but of respect. I can understand that members of the demoscene see demos or alike as "Public Domain"..... yet, I always thought that at least some gentlemens´ agreement should always be the first instance of doing a remake of a REAL classic demo.

I like this. What caught me most were the musics. Even if this is one of the most slow paced demos ever made, this remake is nice. Keep up the good work :)

I liked the original and I like this one, especially for the music and the dedication put into it. And for the silly drama component: it's demoscene do what you want (and live with it). The last thing we surely need though are sceners trying to prevent others from actually producing something (and hopefully improving skills and building up motivation while on the way)!

Well... despite the effort in it and your admiration, an animation which looks like 1997 trying to catch the feeling of its original from 1991 running on the real thing just doesn´t work.

the quality of the covered musics rises with the second half of the vid, imo. which is ofcourse a good thing.

i think it could be done much better overall.
but - what a project! :)
