The colors simply rock. Haven't tried it yet because it doesn't show here at work. But will try and say something soon in my home PC.

Works nicely in DOSBox with 25,000 cycles.

I seriously hate vista - I get a dialogue saying my system does not support fullscreen mode - can I get around this? I'll thumb up from the screenie but Ill watch it on xp later and comment.

First <= 256b intro I encounter that doesn't work on Windows XP. Looks ok in DosBox.

I've never been able to run any of my 256B stuff in XP (other than with DOSBox). My Win2k box runs it fine though.

Wow, some of the best movement/morphing of plasma in 256b and there are 4 sets of colors now!

beautifull sine waves plasma in blue and magenta, blue and red, green and red, and blue and orange

Nice colors, but it just seems like a colorcycle. Should have been more plasmatic. Works fine on XP here.

Nice plasma, works fine on my XP SP2.

Works on one XP, doesn't work on another one. Nice effect and colors, but I encourage you to write non plasma-based intro next time.

new 256b should include a SDL compatible version for people with recent hardware...
added on the 2008-10-05 00:25:12 by Tigrou Tigrou
Great 256b, also props for including versions with different colors. Funny that there is no normal dos exit but that it just drops you on that 40x25 screen :)

@Tigrou: Must be difficult to do it in 256b then yes?
rulez added on the 2008-10-05 18:07:04 by El Topo El Topo
@El Topo: I just do a RET, not the "exit to DOS" interrupt. It exits properly in one version of DOSBox, but just goes back to text mode in another.

@Tigrou: I don't see the point of that, unless I was using some quirky feature that DOSBox doesn't support, which I'm not.

@mic :
seeing a 256b intro at 2fps under dosbox have never been exciting... (maybe its ok for some people with recent core2duo)

most 256b require lot of power. some require so much that even not emulated they are still fucking slow...

i think the problem came from dosbox itself.. if com file is already compiled(instead of being interpreted each time) and interupts, I/O replaced by proper emulated functions, there is not reason an intro should run 10x slower than on real hardware.... (like it is on dosbox)

and why i cannot run 256b??? simple : i get a recent nvidia card where int 10h function have been removed and so cannot display most 256b (even in dos, linux or whatever)

thats why i'm very happy when a 256b come with an SDL version but i understand a sdl version cannot always be easily done...

(i finally manage to see ur intro : nice plasma :its clean , very fluid , but there is nothing special)

rulez added on the 2008-10-07 21:56:22 by Tigrou Tigrou
@Tigrou: You could always write a new JITC-based emulator specifically for 256B demos that supports only a small subset of DOS/VGA :)

I decided to implement the same effect (more or less) as a pixel shader in GLSL: win32 executable and source

And I also made some ports for other systems:

GBA port
SEGA 32X port
SEGA Saturn port

Colors were cool, especially #4...but really, I can't stand any more plasmas...
