This demo has a very high hardware requirements if it is not working on your machine try to download divx version from http://kolos.math.uni.lodz.pl/~plastic

i don't think i'm going to spend money in the latest hardwares only to see a demo, nor to download a 61 MB divx...

Sokoban, good, fuck off then. This is pretty but I don't really see the point of releasing a trailer for a demo.

wowo.. impressive models and animation. The polycount makes it look like some kind of raytracer video thing.. wild demo or something... If it is to remain in this theme I suggest you work on a story though.. Dont be tempted to base the story around the fact that metaballs blend into eachother in a rather cool fashion ..
Again.. the drowning man looks great! Cool bubbles too. Maybe the chrome-biatch was a bit too voluptuos. Remember!! Jerking off to chrome women is never really an option anyway.. Smaller breasts == more art & style enourmous firm breasts == porn.. yay.. Anyways, Im sure this will become quite a corker on Breakpoint..

Yes the models were impressive, but I think it was a bit short for a 20 MB download so only a piggie from me.

Divx version is wonderful just a tiny bit short for it's file size.

Well as for the size of both exe and divx version I wanted to get as most quality as I can, so all textures in the demo are compressed with lossless algorithms. Sorry for the size, I will probably use lossy compression for the final version.
Pete: The meaning of releasing a trailer is to get as many comments as possible to make the final better.
Thanks Guys!

I always found the idea of releasing demo trailers pretty lame. This is not Hollywood.

"The meaning of releasing a trailer is to get as many comments as possible to make the final better"

The meaning of releasing a trailer is showing everybody what to expect. And that means spoiling all the fun because, unlike movies, we don't want to have the slightest idea of what to expect until the demoshow.
And come on! don't make your demo like others want it to be.

Even though I am not especially keen on story demos I love this. Talk about professionality - only the modelling kicks butt, leave alone the decent music! And finally a demo where the horsepower of your machine is relevant again. More of this! (Just optimize your size/running_time ratio a tidbit, heh).

love the music, will be looking forward to the final.. really cool looking teaser, even if it's just the .avi i'm watching. tho' there could be some more details on that first model like the movement is not that realistic and the bubbles appear like from nowhere. that's what i would say if this was a game. but since it's a demo it's just awesome! thumbs up.
rulez added on the 2004-02-09 17:22:22 by cubon cubon
very impressive stuff, but it doesn't appeal to me hugely. Maybe it's cause its just a trailer though. But i'm hoping there will be some consistency to it when its released (a story or whatever, so long as it's not just some randomly connected scenes :)
added on the 2004-02-09 17:30:55 by psonice psonice
It's really nicely done, but it's ZZZzzzzzZZZ and i think i will save my thumb for the final. Oh yeah and loose the music.
added on the 2004-02-09 18:01:40 by NoahR NoahR
if you really released this trailer to know what to do different for the final, I'd suggest that you gonna add some design stuff to it. looks a bit empty to me. but surely cool.

somehow nice!

My expectations weren't too high, but this was actually quite promising. Enough animation etc to lift this above the "boring flyby" category. Looked and sounded good, and ran like a dream on my machine (with Radeon! omfg).. I'm not a big fan of the whole "trailer" idea though, but what the hell.
rulez added on the 2004-02-09 19:38:44 by break break
nice, but not impressive... good visuals, but the colors are pretty dull and also this demo doesnt have an entertaining pace... it's too slow imho. so a piggie
21Mb ?!?!
added on the 2004-02-09 21:39:41 by pK pK
Well I just wanted to say that this Plastic production is not related to any productions made by group "Plastic" that is in the database of pouet.net. The exception is "Captured Dream Team" which was our very first coded demo. So next time check out the creditz of other plastic products to know if there's any relationship betweet "Your Fingers So Gently On My Skin" and them.
We'll think about relabeling in the near future maybe plastic-pl ???
added on the 2004-02-09 21:58:52 by bonzaj bonzaj
Boring. As far as trailers go, this didn't really leave me with a feeling that I'd like to see more.

I prefer the real Plastic group better!

Smokesome, Datademo, Ripping is art, to name a few.

rulez added on the 2004-02-10 22:08:18 by Gargaj Gargaj
It`s very nice looking. But you did a mistake by releasing 40-50% of your demo before it is showed in the bp democompo.
rulez added on the 2004-02-10 22:50:43 by Wain Wain
Authentic definition of something fucking slow :P Maybe you should optimize a bit the whole thing
added on the 2004-02-11 02:36:55 by shash shash
Very pretty production. Nice design, those 2 things are what is keeping this away from thumbs down because of the typical PC bloatware. Unless it's dat already contains the data for the final version, otherwise that is just plain suckiness.

@shash hint, turn off the ansio and anti ;p And i hope by optimise you don't mean the code, as this prolly isn't too bad, for a pc demo. Look at Coma (on the wanky crap floor) and it is only thx to upx that that the exe is under 1mb, unupx'd it's 2.5mb which is just so bad, it's just clumps of shit bolted together.
added on the 2004-02-11 04:11:48 by Intrinsic Intrinsic
Intrinsic: I will make two final versions - one with lossy textures (party version and this will be about 15MB) and another with lossless (probably more than 30MB - but it will be optional to download).
added on the 2004-02-11 10:29:10 by bonzaj bonzaj
this was nice and i'm looking forward for the compo version.

i had to do with the avi version, and what i was wondering is: why so high requirements? all this could be done on a tnt2, too. (btw. see Dis for similar effects back in 1998) i would love to see the final having either lower requirements or (and preferably) more complex effects, like shadows and volumetric lights.

releasing previews or "trailers" was quite common on the demoscene in the early 90s and i see nothing bad about it. after all, the comments improve the demo and it also motivates the opponents so it just raises the compo quality.

nice d'n'b track in LTJ Bukem style.

Thanks gem, That was exactly what I had in my mind.

But I don't think It would run on TNT2. In this moment I'am completetly free of sth called triangle limit. The scenes have about 100000 triangles each. And It's achieved because of making every computation on hardware. The scenes are transfered to the card only once.
I think it is possible to make that demo on TNT2 but without all details. And it would probably run about 0 fps :)

remarkable code and modellling !

but as you (bonzaj) want some critical comments, here you are :

why oh why putting a ridiculous loincloth on the man ? are you targeting Walt Disney audience ? Why is the woman completely naked whereas the man's sex should be hidden ? such prudish correctness is ridiculous ! Demoscene is adult ! :P Free the penis ! Free the penis ! ok ok next comment :]

if you want to compete with Nemo, then think about more colorful underwater objects...

if you want to compete with Farbrausch, then Candytron girl is sexier :P

if you want to win demosceners' votes, then you need to put more *exciting* stuff beyond the romance story, like a fight between a giant robot and a WW2 plane hehe (look at Don Quijote by Frogwize, http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=3899, it's my favourite story demo !)

ok if you find my comments stupid, i find them quite stupid too, in fact i find quite stupid the fact to ask people opinion before the party version... Plastic people do seem very talented, i'm sure they can design a topnotch demo by their own artistic wills ;)

i'm looking forward to watching the full version :)

i thought it wanted to participate in the demo compo at breakpoint, and can a trailer for a demo compete in another compo?

strangely its working perfectly today. Seems my new machine has now learned that it must show demos :/

Well, the realtime version was much longer than the video i saw... maybe i didn't download the whole thing. Looks promising anyway.

I really didn't like this! Sure, it was impressive, but doesn't make me like it. I didn't like the models, not at all. So many polygons and so little life. Why not draw them of less polygons and add hair and thy would come more alive. Hair-less people feels like Poser models and that doesn't feel that exciting.
Good luck and hopefully I will be more impressed by the BP release.
added on the 2004-02-27 08:47:27 by ekoli ekoli
Sucks ass, sorry. Bad animation, ugly images. Engine-features way overused, the models were overly high-polygon. I'm a bit harsh, but you can do better than that!

Ugly animation and camerawork, and the music doesn't fit in the visuals. And 20MB for a short trailer, get real!
sucks added on the 2004-04-20 17:07:49 by asasel asasel
Well It is clear now that we haven't made it in time. The main problem was in music, but since BP I've found so much little bugs that I'm actually happy from current situation.
First of all we're very happy and suprised as well that there were many people waiting for the demo.
And as for now we're still working! All comments were discussed and we've brought a lot of you requests to life. For example we now have shadows, demo takes 16-18 MB and is about 10 minutes long in the moment when I'm writing this comment.
We've got some minor problems with the music, but new mixer and microphonehas arrived, and we're ready to record in the church.

Thanks guys.

BTW Take a look at a new nVidia demo for geForce 6800FX - nice hair - huh? :)
added on the 2004-04-20 21:49:03 by bonzaj bonzaj
Oh and Yes - the new release date is Symphony'2004 but we're thinking about Assembly as well. Can somebody tell me what are the hardware requirements for Assembly PC demo compo?
I'm worried that there are only allowed pixel and vertex shaders 1.4 version.
added on the 2004-04-20 21:52:39 by bonzaj bonzaj
i guess they should support ps2.0 at asm04 having some radeon9800 or GFX and if they dont, they suck! :)
It's not bad but everything is too smooth and empty for my taste, it needs a drowning Titanic or something. We will see how the trailer evolved.
added on the 2004-04-21 21:33:58 by dake^cdx dake^cdx
not bad but not extraordinary, lack of synchros, medium music, hard-to-do underwater caustics, little bit boring story (slow cam moves), short trailer. Please more synch, more speed, more action for the final
Really fuckin impressive, really slow on this hardware, crashes in others, amazing modelling and animation, only enjoyable with the video.
