Yeahh i really love tha demo . Good text , good design . To answer Bloodyl : this demo is 100% software so using higher resolution could slow the demo
A very nice demo, and this is the first demo made by Oror. Nice gfx, and good music. Very good text, and nice 3d engine. just see it.
Quite nice demo with good visuals.
The engine looks o.k. however a little option to allow higher res would've been nice as it would have improved the visual quality by removing all the jaggies! =)

To answer Flod, the message at the end of the demo is not a joke. It's simply the conclusion of the demo: 'life is faded, so to end it make war'.

I still try to understand some other lyrics, because I thought that they mean something,.. (Because I see other demos with lyrics and I can't really understand if they have some meaning or they were just written whatever came in their mind :P)

Akin to getting kicked in the nuts - a wonderful experience.
yeah i like this, it wasnt that stylish, lots of diferent efexts mixt upp and all but it is sure nice though (you should have made 2 demos, one black-wite-red and one with the 3d). i really liked the 3d stuff: the motor and the models. the music was also verry nice, and toasts pix, more gfx in the demos!

Well,i can hardly express my feelings about this demo...it is definetely my all-time favorite.Great concept,nice graphics although low res,majestic music and great overall atmosphere....This demo is pure magic....just watch it with a sound amplifier or gopd headphones and all lights out....

Hmm.. I'm somewhere between Raoul_Duke and PigPen, but then again, it's hard to stand somewhere else.. It wasn't bad. It had some good effects and the tune was quite nice and soothing..
Nice: concept, music, code, mood, sgeneboetry, font for the sgeneboetry, flying bird. Not so nice: design, loading time, typos, some textures, the withering flower, credit screen, some pictures (because they didn't fit) and the ending.
Well, what's good in this demo IMO is not really the technic (although they are good stuffs) but the MOOD.. The fucking mood.. That's why I really like it, whatever defects can be found in it..
the 3d engine seems to be pretty flawless. the poem sucks fairly hard though (as most demo poems do, unfortunately...) - "the liberty is just a dream", come on...
lowres very grainy... bad texture and camera use, skipping motion, etc... maybe a thumb down?

The scenepoetry left me a bit dumbfounded, but the effects and especially the graphics were nice indeed.

nice 2d-stills, nice first attempt at a demo... but damned boring.

the 2d pics were very good.
I thought the music was way to glamorous and synthetic to cover the theme. More organic style without the heavy chords would be better.. Sounds a bit like you're kicking the piano's ass instead of playing it too.. piano is one dangerous instrument to use.
I miss lighting in the scenes.. As this is a sw demo, I guess one could draw the light into the textures or something.. Or use the cool 3d programs to bake light into the textures. Maybe such features weren't available at that time though.. The scenes need more contrast.. looks like a mix of nehe tutorials and 3d studio seamless texture collection CDs..
As for the poetry.. It seems poetry is on the scene to stay.. I wish the poets were a bit like the graphicians though.. Learn by copying!... It would be nice to see a demo based on a poem written only as a poem for once. Or a story written to be a story, with a supporting demo to it ( Like Halla by Moppi) ..
As for the message? sounds like youre pretending to be shooting heroin in the eyeballs from the sadness you try to convey here, but it doesnt really strike me as very authentic.. I think youre all happy young people after all ;)

Faded is a valuable contribution to the demoscene and worth watching & worth saving if you're not preserving only the absolute top of the crop. What sets it apart from the masses is that it is a melancholic demo that conveys a meaning.
The message seems to be somewhat unfocused here. Faded seems to talk about the meaninglessness of life, the limited time we have, criticize western society and about how people treat each other. That just seems like too much for a single demo to handle and we are left with just a very shallow commentary on many difficult issues. It doesn't help that the authors' english language skills are lacking and the viewer is sometimes left wondering what they were trying to say simply because of grammatical errors. I wish they would've sticked to french.
Graphically there are a couple of rather beautiful 3D scenes that have symbolic meaning explicitly spelled out in the loading screen (but the viewer can come up with alternate explanations for their symbolic meaning). The scenes follow the theme well and add to the textual element.
However, there's some lack of direction with the composition and apart from a couple of bright spots it isn't particularly enjoyable. The music sets the tone and works well for the demo but could be considered rather simple.
In conclusion Faded managed to make a lasting impression on me but falls into the better half of mediocrity with it's numerous problems. I recommend checking it out if you can't get enough of demos but it isn't among the great ones.
