very nice indeed! .. to be honest im not much of a fan of chiptunes but I was pleasantly suprised by the tunes in this pack.

The interface is excellent and finding the hidden part is definately a lot of fun :) .. looks like a lot of work went into this.

Positive things first: Well-designed interface and a huge amount of tunes. But now for the negative ones - first of all, the playback routine uses FMOD which most definitely doesn't replay some of the tunes correctly (crackle, distortion). Secondly, the quality of the tunes is quite low (also in comparison to Coolphat's previous disks). Alas, even much-admired Vim did not give his best on this chipdisk.
So as a conclusion, this disk was not really worth downloading for me. (probably in the end it can all be blamed on using FMOD as a playback utility - I bet the tunes sound way better played elsewhere)

the interface is nice, but besides the tunes by vim and bal, you can pretty much forget this one.

the interface looks sweet .. really nice gfx by krayz and the code behind musicdisks are nothing to talk about.. but i didnt really find any tunes i liked ;-)

and i think it was good i didnt find any good tunes since then i would have to have that HUGE interface with the nicegfx all over my desktop day and night.. luckily.. now i dont ;-)

Vhiiula, I should of used BASS, FMOD seemed fine on my setup, well, on my Aureal card.. but I have sneaky suspictions it crackles on Soundblasters? the tunes more or less played great here.. I never experienced any crackling at all.. oh well.. next time I'll use BASS.. I guess.. but someone will still complain. :)

UI being too big.. it probably looks too big on lower resolutions.. we did initially think it might be too big.. but well.. its nice to look at anyway! remember, u can minimize it to your systray and it'll play while you IRC. ;)

As for comments on the music, theres a lot of old tunes there, some don't even sound like proper chips.. Vim even sneaked a vocal sample in the latest tunes he did for us! These tunes had been on my hdd a long time.. and needed releasing.. all in all.. its a nice pack.. there is some blinding tunes there.. but as everything else in existance, it may not appeal to all, we accept this. :)

Vhiiula the reason it sounded distorted on some songs is because the volume is too loud and it causes clipping and clicks. This is simply adjusted by turning the volume down. fmod uses the .it mix volume stored within the file but the interface overrode that volume unfortunately.

Sorry to all who experienced clicking/crackling..After speaking with Firelight, I've updated the chippack so it now auto-adjusts the volume.. I had no clue .IT had its own volume and FMOD handled it.. and yeah, I was overriding it :P but all fixed now.. erhm, just got to get CoaX to upload the updated zip file. :-)

It's so funny. Thenever someone with a slightly different opinion comes around and votes against 'the trend', someone with a big ego (most probably the creator) comes along and interpretes the post as a diss and kicks the poster in order to protect his brain-child.

The thing about voting is, that you let OTHER people decide what they think about your prod...

And finally it's not about doing better/doing worse. You post your stuff here in order to get reactions. So it might happen that someone is NOT licking your ass and it might happen that, for whatever reason, does not like your demo/intro/music disk.

I understood what you meant.. I'm just being stupid ;) so don't mind me.. I didn't attack your negative opinion in a serious way... but seriously.. I value all opinions.. good or bad.. I got more good than bad.. so it was worthwhile.. most bad ones were about the music.. as Seffren pointed out.. it wasn't to some people's tastes.. maybe its because the tunes were really old? dunno.. afterall.. I was forced to listen to them a lot during developing.. so perhaps they grew on me! they make my skin crawl now.. :D tired of hearing them.. anyway.. we intend to make another pack.. a much improved interface..got a load of ideas.. aleen gave me a couple of ideas too.. so it would be nice to put it together.. and also.. I guess we'll have to be very choosy about the tunes that goes into the final product.. I wasn't keen on some chips in ACF not sounding like proper chips.. vocal samples anyone? ;) our next pack can only be an improvement.

i don't really understand everybody's problem with the quality of the tunes, in my opinion they were pretty much all awesome (with the exception of my own, which was indeed quite poor). maybe its just a uk (& swedish) sense of taste and style then?! :P
