looks totally messed up. one of these "let's try to have as many old effects as possible at the same time" things. it just doesn't look good. in fact, it indeed looks pretty horrible. no thumb down though as I like the scroller because that one looks at least good.
everything is ugly... sound, design, logo...
nice logo, music is ok, scroller a bit hard to read.
Yesterday's effects on today's technology :-)
It's not that bad but a bit too much of everything.
Nice little ditty tho.

Look like more a cracktro than an intro...
Music is ok

and a very promising candidate for the award for ugliest and buggiest production of the year 2008 already!
see above oink comments.
Sorry, but despite this probably being a very honest way of showcasing the old times, and a lot better than most intros of this kind, it fails on too many levels to be likable. Here are some points that struck my nerves (ie. a try in constructive criticism):
1) The sine plotter effect ran jerky and sluggish on my 2 GHz machine. I think that's pretty unforgivable.
2) The zoomer was pretty basic and jerky and did not have any kind of filtering (you could see the seams where the interpolation does its work). Being in software is no excuse, bilinear filtering ran just fine in 1998 or so.
3) The interference in the background of the main scene moves way too fast and gets messy.
4) There is some kind of strange appeal in the colourscheme, but it really should have a main colour and then something to contrast that with. Now it's grey and lime green and strawberry red and orange in the background.
5) The ribbon thing where the screens are is buggy. Seriously, it has seams that look like it was be moving too fast or had z-fighting (if it was in hardware). And the light-source didn't move but just sat in the left side of the screen.
6) The "variform" block filter did not look good at all. It just added to the mess. It might've been better if it was used on a whole panel in the ribbon.
I think it could be summed as "way too much stuff happening at once". I think this could've easily made a nice 2 or 3 scene intro after bugfixes. However, the scroller was cool and I have a fondness for flat-shaded things.

Oh yes, the logo was nice (I think), but you couldn't see it in its proper size because the pixels kept jumping when zoomed, and then it just zoomed away.
(adding still: the lightsource does indeed move, there was just too much happening on the screen to really notice :p Maybe it could be something else than blinding green flaremap with basic non-linear color ramp?)
nice logo, nice music, nicescrooller
I didn't hate it if it's a consolatory for you
What The Preacher Man said.
I'm a fan of this style of effects and always a fan of S!P and DBF...but I didn't like this one.
I'll reiterate here in saying there was WAY too much going on and it really should've been split into multiple parts.

some really nice parts but basically too much at the same time
I like the circle-dot-scroller.
Thanks for the greetings, thumb up for that.
I'm a sucker for effects and that "film reel" like effect was just enough to get a thumb: is that a first? I didnt like the logo zoom though.
wow this is really bad :)
the tune and scroller kickass :D.
but maybe if can slow background speed for little it would be much better ^^.

nice tune, nice scroller :)
make full demo not just screens puh-leeze :D
Way too messy
I liked it despite what I've been reading here...
Anyway some people are very promising candidates for the award for biggest ego and most hated sceners of the year 2008 already! (...at least one!)

after reading the comments i was prepared for a total abomination in the sound and gfx/design department.. however after checking it out i had this 'oh comeon u wankers.. its not that bad' -feeling.. even if some things could be better (howabout different objects on all the film-cells instead of that one cube?:)
the music was neat and the scroller, well im a sucker for these..... so....

I'd have liked to have had different objects in each cell, but it was not possible.
The reason I made this intro was because I had a silly idea nagging away in the back of my mind for months...
What you see when you look at this intro is this..
Imagine a huge clock face, instead of having seconds marked around the outside, there are minature film cells , then instead of the clock face, it is a circular film strip.
In each cell there is a different rendering of some 3D object with the rotation advanced a set amount of degrees.
The circular strip is magnified to a large extent so that only up to 3 of the cells are visible at once, then the strip is spun very, very quickly and that produces the animation of the object in the cell windows, occasionally I throw it out of sync deliberately and let it recover it's correct speed to make it look a little bit more interesting.
I don't believe that this idea had been tried before, I know it's quirky and I'm sorry it's not to everyone's liking but I was glad that the idea worked as I suspected it would.
Anyway, thanks to everybody for the comments and critique.
This will be the last of these software rendered things I release I think. In future I will be using hardware accelerated graphics, but hopefully my stuff will still stay quirky ;-)

shockwave: are you going to release full demo or just screens?
I like it!
Unseen,
The answer to that is both.
I will make some more cracktros what will be single screen things, I want to work on some bigger things in the future too though, so yes, definately.
Several of my friends have been trying to encourage me to make larger demos for the last few years and it's getting hard to put them off :-)
Perhaps I might even enjoy making them, who knows?

Lacks a bit design. Good ideas behind it, though. Keep working and improving. :)
I like it and I also want you to release a megademo ;)
Like it!
:)
This is not bad at all, for sure 100 times better then all previouse remakes ;)
..greetings to piggie...
I'm excited to see what you'll do in hardware Nick :D
Not bad, would have been cooler if the scroller bounced around in the screen, like in some oldschool demos :-) Should have also filtered the zoom part.
nice track and feel but the colors ruin almost everything else.
With a better organisation and a better storyboard, color schemes etc, it could have been possible to make something nice out of it.
But all placed in one screen well its not so stylish.
In my eyes there was much more potential than this intro showed !
At the end its okay ...

Not bad, I don't much like the pixelating effect and the text is a bit hard to read but other than that I like it.
Forgot this:
nice :)
Nice effects but where is the radial blur effect as the title says? :)
It has no blur Optimus ;) could be the background (or not)
its ok.. i mean, i've seen such productions on amiga back then. so nice oldschool flavah. but the size is abit odd, the tune is nicish .. just, it was abit hard to read the scroller ..
thanX 4 releasing sth between parties.!
and i like it somehow...oldskoolish.!

like this oldscroll circle text and zik!! like this background , it's a very nice intro but it's right too many stuffs in same time :) like i say clean a bit :)
Meh... boring, a bit hard to read.
Maybe just too much mix of effects.
Maybe just too much mix of effects.
Text is somewhat difficult to read, nice tune and overall nice one :)
sorry, really bad judgement in the design and colours
SaphirJD's and Parapete's comments combined. Oink.
rulez, despite the amount of text :P
no soh
+ shockwave's ideas are good most time... especialy here with filmeffect...
- zoom fx of the logo is bad. i dislike the pixeled fx in it...
- music is boring. i know better stuff from ampli.
+ logo is ok.
all in all "is ok" here.

- Horrible color scheme
Gosh, this looks quite horrible and the music is dull too.
Usually I'd definitely thumb this down but since this has some trying beyond the very usual oldschool effects. Hence it deserves a pig.
