This one amazed even people who have no idea about hw restrictions of different platforms. Nice image wobbler. Sad that my Siemens cell phone isn't hitec enough so that I could view this on it. :-/

Wow... I'm a bit blown away by the response here... Thanks, guys! This mobile really is interesting to program for, in that you really have to wring your brain to find out how to do effects normally considered as trivial. Although the processor packs a whopping 26MHz, it's hampered by the JVM, and that damn GSM stack (Wish I could switch it off :). The marching squares scene, for example, required some serious work to get an "acceptable" framerate. Once again, thanks for the praise. Oh, and watch out for more prods... We have some cool ideas ;)

cd: since we're using the built-in ringtone player for the music, it's kinda hard to avoid "bleepmusic". actually the tune is split into 10 smaller ones (a limitation of 145 notes, including pauses, pr. tune). we beefed up the speed to 200 bpm to achieve the "arpeggiator-effect". you can get the midi-file from me if you'd like. :)

So bloody cool!!! Suddenly I fealt such an urge to get me one of those Java Mobiles. The music rocked!!!!! Just imagine how things will be on multicolor mobiles with polyphonic music....

Very nice for mobile java, but I wouldn't consider it very impressive technically. Ruled the compo, though. Maybe I just like lores and ugly beeps.

Watching the video, great! I am wondering if some old b&w mobile demos will run in modern mobile platforms (I think I tried these ones)
optimus: i can absolutely guarantee you that this one _will not_ :) it uses hacks that aren't even available in "new" firmware versions _on that phone_ :) it uses siemens specific java sdk-stuff and a lot of just plain old garbage code... but goddamn how fun it was to make. :)

I must admit I never really found this so great. The platform is basically limited to moving sprites around, and it doesn't really manage to work around that to any convincing extent.
