hmm.. the melody in the music and the colors of the particles didnt quite convince me. the effect had some good moments though.

the music is quite nice, but the direction of that more or less one effect was excellent, the cameras and path and movement etc was very cool, you kept me interested the whole time and it worked with the music very nicely, a subtle and charming little demo, i really liked it.

It makes me laugh actually that from Preachers group (who hates most things oldschool) that Traction release a demo that has ugly as fuck colours and a string or spline (again!) of what could be described as metaballs.

Seriously, I have seen much nicer things than this from Traction.

(and ok I know Preacher did not code this but perhaps he will be along to add his thumb down ? Or is that self-voting?).

I should really TD this myself but it's just average so it gets 5/10.. Pig... Stop this spline shit and do something new, it's really boring now.

only one ugly & boring scene, horrible colors and music

Surprisingly "non-boring" for a one-effect demo, it stayed afloat throughout its length (IMO). But for me the problem was that there was just one effect, and I didn't like it at all (aesthetically). The background wasn't too pretty either and the music was so-so. I'm drawn between a pig and a thumb down, but I think that if this wasn't by Traction I would surely thumb it down, so just to be fair to a group I generally do like (or at least used to like), I'll have to vote like this.

quite nice. i didnt like the music much, though, and it wasnt really going anywhere. begining till that "turbine" shape was ace, after that it missed content a bit (or was there too many of it to be called minimal or abstract?)

Music didn't fit imo. Or more likely I would've wanted to see it in some other concept. Quite nice that actually a one scene demo wasn't even too boring to watch.

really hard to say anything about this prod. on the one hand it was really cool, but on the other i was extremely disappointed. Some sort of evolution in the visuals would have probably worked marvels. Well worth a piggy, still.

The concept and idea?

It's a spline or an attractor of some sort made out of hardware accelerated metaballs. with a grainy filter... That's all it does... Really, I know, I watched it for ages....

If you don't know what a "concept" or "idea" is, I don't know if I can help you. Hint: The point is now what it looks like, or how it's made, but what it represents. The metaphysical sense. Meaning, if you will.

A very simple example: Imagine a painting of a landscape. It has a city, some fields, and the sea, all illuminated by a sunset. You can look at it superficially, or you can look for meanings, the content of the painting. How is the city painted? How about the sea? Why has the artist chosen to paint these things? Is there a difference on how the different elements have been represented? Which of these items in in focus? Why? Is there something odd about any of the elements? Are these elements tied together somehow? Is there a particular angle or point of view that the artist wants to bring out in his or her painting?

Another example: Portraits are hardly the most imaginative of paintings, and usually they're done for a "ordinary purpose" (ie. getting your face on the family mansion wall before the invention of photography). But even they can and often do contain hidden information, such as having the actual focus of the painting somewhere else, or including small symbols in the background, or perhaps accentuanting one feature of the person's face.

This is the stuff I am talking about. And this is the stuff that separates art from mere pictures. And sometimes, a painting is just a painting, or done for aesthetic purposes only. Or as practice. Or as a joke. Those things have their own merit.

(and no, I don't think this is a particularly excellent or meaningful piece of art, but it's got a nice mood and room for interpretation, which is something I appreciate very much).

I don't like this much. The background and post processing looks a bit MFX wannabe and the effect is not too interesting. It would be better with a more dynamic / interesting effect and better direction. The track is cute :)

However, Traction have in my humble opinion released many more things that are much more deserving of being called Art or Artful (Rale does not claim this to be a work of art in his nfo).

Still, this has it's place and it seems to be to a lot of people's tastes even if not my own.

one of the worst traction demos ever. it was ultimately boring so that if i remember correctly truck felt somewhat asleep next to me. whatever, also note that preacher wasn't at the party place which is another minus for the prod :P

A little bit too long the same effect, but interesting ending and very good soundtrack.

very pretty patterns of movements for the particles but kinda slow for my taste.

Maybe I just like it for the music yet the moving particle figures are good enough to entertain me too even it's just one effect, but maybe I thump it up for the music and nice feeling it gives me.

The music was very nice ... but this wasn't really a demo. One mediocre effect for 5 minutes on screen doesn't cut it in my book. Put a lot of mediocre effects together and I'll call it "a good attempt", but this isn't even that.

P.S. during startup I got a runtime error about something not being a function, but it ran anyway. So I apologize if what I've seen wasn't really the complete demo.
