i'm giving this thumb up only with limitations. i think the speech is a bit overdone, it's cool in the very beginning, but all the credits and the greetings spoken ain't good. also, the demo gets less interesting towards the end.

Anyhoo, this demo is nicely polished but seems to lack something. Nothing overly eyecatching, and the colours, or lack thereof, didn't impress me. One thing I totally disagreed with was the voice.

I haven't seen the other demos yet but this one is awesome. Stylish look, lots of interesting effects and scenes, very effective glare rendering, nice music with perfect synch.

This was absolutely fantastic! The music rocks, the computer voice builds up an incredible intro, and then it finishes you off with the diamond effects. Brilliant!
Excellent stuff, kicking soundtrack. Probably heavily inspired by Planet Potion. Great atmoshere, a great trip!

I would have liked this but directly cloning an Imatran Voima song (In/Out? for the first half) doesn't please me much no matter how much you "respect" them. (The second part of the song wasn't IVO anymore - but that certainly didn't help much in this case ;))

I already thumbed this up, but after watching the rest of the assembly prods, I think this one is the best by far and should have been #1.
I think this was the only good demo in the compo.
that's for sure the best demo released at asm... boombastic elektro tune, lighting fast good looking effects... wicked! wicked! wicked! Kewlers are just kewl! (oh and btw i personnally dig those vocals)

I've watched most of the demos/intros of this years Assembly and this one is the one i like most. Can't say if it is better than the one from Haujobb, because - for me - it's a completly different style here. When it comes to design, i would have used that "We are BACK" more often (e.g. after the calm greetings-part, when the music start to get faster again), because it somehow adds some "dramatic feeling". A great demo!

I love the style, the design, the music, and some great coding too, runs at a very decent speed on my TNT2. Now thats how a demo should be. A mixture of coding skills and original styles and ideas, imho.

My favourite demo @ assembly'02. Didn't Haujobb boys say something "the Kewlers should have won" or something like that? err.. anyway, a great demo.
Well, droid/hjb said something about the moral winners of the compo, but as i said before, i say it again, haujobb won fair and square. Their demo just simply was more beautiful, and it had some treu 3d scenes instead of plain 3d objects etc.
As for the rest of the comments, thank you for the pos. and neg. feedback. This was an attempt to make something more mainstream than usual, but still keeping it "kewl" :D. Next up is coming something completely different.

with Haujobb and Da Jormas demos totally rock the ASM02 democompo...very good synching with awesome sound (like this MF+LB Kraftwerk way)...total stunning older effects like jizzblobs in new original graphic coat........Roxxx, roxx, roxxx !!!!!!

This has grown on me a lot. I'm not keen on the gfx style, but it's a pretty good demo overall. I was too hasty to thumb it down.
stylish. though it wouldn't require a geforce-2. an amiga with 060 would be enough. but whatever. we're in 2002. ruler stuff.
Great visuals and the demo would have been a rock-solid performance if it wasn't for the crappy elektrobeat the soundtrack had. Otherwise the music kicked, but the beat just plain sucked.
Music isn't my personal cup, but it damn rocks on loud sound systems (like Breakpoint's one). The demo has style, but i usually loose focus in the last minutes : a little too long and always the same. Great demo anyway ! Very nice work in term of design and flow.

Well, the first few minutes were dominated by cold colours, boring effects and lack of a consistent theme. But the demo became decent after the greetings were displayed - especially because the colours became sensible.

Perfect sync with one of the best soundtracks I've heard in years... I show all my friends this one, and my oldschool b-boy friends especially go crazy over the music. Effects are also well-executed and continue to build and build throughout. I like the voice at the beginning, although the voice used for the greets could use some tweaking. Definitely deserving of the awards its received -- it's a crowd-pleaser that respects demo roots.
Few beats after the vocoder introduction, you know that those guys are masters of black art coding, graphics & music. Demo of mass-destruction.
P.S. I like the effect of constantly exploding surfaces, with the stylish guy in the background.

Good demo. Best effect was the crystal/caleidoscope/glittering 3D after the greetings. Sync with music was good too.
Only bad part was that it contained metaballs which I _hate_ :o).

It often happens this way: at first, it seems to me that it's just another demo with weird design and half-pleasant music. Then something switches on and I just realize that I'm actually watching and enjoying an awsome piece of art, with much personnality and atmosphere in it. Variform exactly matches these words.

a couple of years ago, it was demo that could arise some fetishes. now i have a complete variform fetish that needs to be fed time to time.
Seeing it for the first time on the big screen was an absolute blast, First appearance of the glow utilised to this diamond-like impression and it's beautiful. Still my favourite from kewlers. Nothing from them has made a comparable impression since even though I have high regard for lots of their stuff.

Stingray : I'm really disappointed with you saying the effects are boring.. what with the light behind the object and the great gridexpander deforming rounded spikeball? :) This demo is teh shit. even has this thing with people that look normal overlays.

this is hard to judge.. the soundtrack has it's moments, but the sounds could've been mixed a bit better to avoid the dry lead sounds. some scenes were pretty fantastic, and others just quite bland imo.. but i suppose i'm comparing this to the later kewlers (and mfx) demos way too much. nice heads :P anyway, a piggie it is.

Long overdue thumb here. Used to think this is vastly overrated, bad even, but I think everyone's first impression of this is that they either love or hate it. Kewlers have always been good, and always will be. Even though this is a rather traditional in style, there are all sorts of little details on how the objects move, rotate, and behave in general. Same think with the camera paths. Color scheme could be improved a bit maybe, and as of now it is a bit dull and monotonous but the visual impression is still very good. I don't think I can say anything more about the music, it's a classic. In short, the pinnacle of demos of this style.
