nice mood
IT IS REAL PAINTING!! OMG!!!111
Sorry to bring it down to earth and be blunt, it was awful! The images had no detail or colour co-ordination, and were all kinda cliched motifs.
Well, basically, it was just SO EMO!

SHIT!
meh, the quality of some of those paintings was abit too low, that kinda ruined the effect abit. but the concept/mood was a nice idea. you could have used an engine that didnt require 8 .dll's to be present though.
sucks
Moist!
I get where Proteque is going and it's definately setting a gloomy mood.
However, as I see it more of a statement like "This is how I really feel" from Proteque and not so much a display of what he as an artist is REALLY capable of doing, I can only provide this prod with a piggy.

some of the paintings are quite nice actually, some not.
Nice work tufs, i enjoyed it!
not my cup of tea... maybe next time ?? \o/ ;-)
Nice.
No idea what the intension of the images was - but the voice of Sophia is really amazing. So close your eyes and open your ears when you watch this ;-)
maybe next time... i hate the music - had to press esc
not bad.
really, 8 dlls for a slideshow? wtf!?
whatever, a bit overdose emo, and a quite fitting song, really not that bad.

Yes,I used demolition. I dont know how to code. sorry ;) The paintings was done while I was at the hospital. So I guess thats what make them "emo" :P
and btw. the singing is our sister (me and nicomen´s)
not mu cup of coffee, the voice shaddered all my windows!
does it _really matter_ how many dlls it comes with?
we know better, indeed
wow! I thought it felt kind of "honest at the end of the day" like. Nice mood! All pictures are more or less in the same style which is what a slideshow should be like. My fave pic is number three. I like the way you can see her hair even if it is black on black. The song and music is original? Nice :)
A few small downers is the text which is too computer font like and so seems a bit out of place. Would be great if that was painted instead. Also in some pics the border shows in the photo.

what ps said
smash: when one just does fadein and fadeout of pictures, yes i would say needing all those .dll's matter abit :P lots of other open engines around to use that could have pulled it off.. it's abit like using a blowtorch to light a cigarrete.
ps: but i just dont see why it should matter at all. it's not like there would be any benefit in sizeoptimising the code or something when you have a truckload of gfx and music on top. it just seems like a pointless thing to whine about. (and it's still a lot neater than anything with a big fat separate data directory.)
as tft said hes not a coder, and most of those open engines you mentioned would still need a coder to put it together.

btw, the download link doesnt appear to work :)
i think you do get my point, you're just beeing picky about it couz it's your engine and you heard similar talk on another thread, where the use of dlls was totally justifiable for the type of project at hand, unlike in this particular case. imho ofcourse.
ps: im "picky" whenever someone criticises something for a stupid and irrelevant reason. :) to me it's the equivalent of saying "this sucks because the info file wasnt named with an nfo extension!" :) as far as im aware, the demoscene doesnt have some anal "standard release format" we have to abide by.
to answer your point - no denying pretty much any coder could do this particular job from scratch very simply in a single file. but tft didnt have a coder available. our tool is split into dlls due to it's plugin architecture (which is brilliant for the users and developers). and surely the best choice of tool to use for a job is the one that is easiest to use, not the one which has fewest dlls? :)
if you want to criticise it for being done with a demotool, thats a whole other argument. (still a stupid one though.)

see, you're beeing picky :) i still watched the thing. just found it odd and somewhat unnecessary thats all.
proteque should've used penis. that's my point.
with jumalauta's penis it's what you do with it that counts.
with jumalauta's penis it's what you do with it that counts.
so jumalauta's penis is a lot smaller than ours?
Smash: Don't you see? It's obvious that a statically linked, much larger, executable would be infinitely preferable to this orgy of dll extravagance!
it's not the size but how you use it that matters!
sagacity: you bitch :) thats not what i was implying at all.
smash : actually i just wonder one point, if your engine is "plugabble" then why the hell it needs all of those dlls to display some pictures on the screen? I guess it's more like, "plug-in and you can't plug-out ever".
Just a point that flashed in my eyes, don't get me wrong :).

uhm... well... I seems I steped on some feets when making a slideshow which had some dll-s in the zip. as I said I had no coder availible for this. and yes I did check around first.
I do however find it strange that ppl react more on what dlls is in the zip rather than what I wanted to say with the demo or the quality/lack of quality of pictures and music.

proteque: only 2 people mentioned the damn dlls and they both equally refered some comments to the pictures and mood/music O_O
proteque: now you have created controversy, it's officially ART! :)
is this the part where 20 people go and stage?
go *on* stage
i cant believe im bothering to explain this.. :)
here's why we have dlls in demolition:
demolition plugins have the .fx extension. demolition is used for all sorts of things, and there are loads of plugins for different purposes. code that has to be shared between plugins is in dlls, so that you only get one instance of it with multiple plugins. in addition some of the dlls are used in other projects (other tools, exporters etc).
it also keeps down link times.
the dlls required by the engine are core, piraya, fxbase, and then bass for the music. some windows dlls and d3dx are probably included in the package just incase someone doesnt have them (but most should already).
as ps vaguely touched on, this project is a really simple use of demolition so it doesnt really need any plugins - just some standard fx. but one doesnt rework the whole system for the sake of that (because that would imply the input of a coder, which is something this slideshow didn't have). :)
as proteque said - it's a slideshow, not a coding showcase. why do people care about whether it has dlls? it's slightly depressing to think people associate the quality of a release with what they see in their explorer window.

Thumb for the mood and thos brilliant retarded discussion! huzzah!
proteque: Please read the untergrund.net hosting rules again. The download link is invalid. Use ftp://ftp.untergrund.net. GRRR.
Generate .objs and use this ? Or do it the gargaj's way: embed every dlls inside the exe and extract them at runtime and voila, no more controversies, no more discussions, no more depressed smashes.
finally a new slideshow
hitch: if we wanted to static link stuff we'd turn that option on in visual studio. jeesus.
extracting files to disk at runtime is considered uncool by various demoparty rules, so that's also a nono.

Hmm,. not bad. Didn't touched me much (maybe I didn't liked the music or voice as much and if there were 2-3 more tunes maybe it could inspire me more) and I don't like most of the paintings. But it's something different and I like this. But not enough for a thumb up.

Bleh no, i mean your demotool actually containing it's own linker and using coff files instead of dlls. Packing everything together with the framework thus generating one single exe.
hitchhiker: thats actually an interesting solution.
an interesting solution to a problem that doesnt exist (because it doesnt matter about having dlls in a demo anyway) - but it might be a good way to do a plugin system for a 64k or something.

It's a good solution to shut up the people that doesn't have more problems in this life that getting annoyed because a demo has too many files when uncompressed (probably it's annoying for them because they have to find a .exe file in between 5 files instead of 2).
The dll way is perfectly acceptable to me of course. It's just a plan B in case somebody would complain about a potential overload of these external files, but that never happens anyway.

well not in the .exe actually but the datafile, but yeah.
Actually, if you write your own LoadLibrary replacement you can load your dll straight from memory, requiring no extraction to disk.
Summarizing, however: WHO CARES :)

scamp I am sorry. I forgot.
I liked it !

Oh, another dc fan. Nuts to you, good sir! :)
it rulez and you suck. dll are like pills. you cant get too much of em. ill go back to my hole and make 4 more.
Pantaloon: Please add a dll called kusma.dll just to annoy people. And then write a diskmag-article about it.
won't start on my laptop. please upload a patch or something... i don't think that i need a geforce 8800 for a slideshow...
crickey.. what ps said, also miss Sophia needs some finetuning :P i'll go for piggie as at least it's smth new.
i know better piano samples for sure
Not my favourite style of painting...
nice
Pianosamples?... it is a recording from a live performanse done by my sister and a friend of her at the piano...
nice paintings...
nice sister's voice...
nice music...
nice slideshow

Nice sad mood in this production, i like it! Keep those emotional stuff coming...
Idea: Great
Realization: You should do better
Realization: You should do better
seen this again and again. it grows on me. very honest and sad. Great work!
I had to see this after your other slideshow. the other slideshow is a LOT better. but this is also cool. The music however makes me want to cry when watching the pictures. so sad pictures.
