Thanks, copying d3dx9_30.dll from my old system did the trick. Very nice intro as usual, great to hear this classic tune in a PC intro. The tunnel is pretty cool and my favourite effect in the intro. :)

Great job! Original tune is of course preferred and blah blah.. imo this (superb) felix schmidt tune doesn't fit here, prolly because hearing it too much elsewhere.. But 4k! Thumbs up

Be sure your machine meets the minimum requirements also updating the gfxcard driver may help (it fixed a problem on alien's machine), otherwise i don't know, are you using vista ?
nice, the checkerboard-effect runs very slow compared to the other ones i noticed :P

Simple: i'm not associated with any warez groups or people, i just receive some mails from time to time from unknown people with unknown goals asking for an intro, sometimes i do it, most of the time i don't.

Won't work here. The intro starts, black screen, gets back under windows, shows a transparent 800*600 (approx. i'd say) window, with just the border visible (red cross/minimize and stuff) and "cette application doit fermer car elle a causé une erreur blah blah mes couilles [envoyer] [ne pas envoyer] [windows = daubasse]"

updating gfx card drivers did not do the job. your fixed version did.

Runs very slow for what it shows (the checkerboards are jerky, and the warping blackhole thing crawls and makes the sound stutter) but I guess my video card is rather sucky and it's 4k, so allowances can be made. Otherwise very nice.

Shockwav3: Be sure your gfxcard have support for pixel shaders 2.0 and that you're using the latest driver for it (especially if it's an ATI card).

I recognised this chip instantly because paranoimia used it in their "Shadow of the Beast" cracktro and it was my favorite game at this period.

I think it was banned from the compo because of the stolen music ... and because hitchhiker was drunk and violent with his keyboard :-D
Yeah, too bad about the stolen music (especially since it's the 2nd time), it's not like demoscene lacks musicians in 2007, there are plenty of people willing to make tunes :/
Unfortunately, few of them can make such good tune of that size.

Since nobody said it, I guess it's not well known. The music is composed by TSM/Sunriders a.k.a. Felix Schmidt. Suntronic, in the credit, refers to the music format, not the author. It's on Exotica under the name MSX-cracktro_2. Plays well with Deliplayer :).
It was used in cracktros by Paranoimia (used at least 4 times), Also by Vision Factory (found at least 10 times), Anthrox and Scoopex (Top Wrestling), Horizon (Clown O Mania) and probably some others as well :).

Everybody used this tune from Suntronic back in the day. It's composed 100% in 68k assembler, nice to hear it "ported" ;)
And by the way, the music "format" is named after its author, Suntronic. It's not really a format imo as you may customize it anyway you want; you code it in assembler.
I really like the checkerboard effect at the beginning! The music is a classic.
