This rulez, they should air shows like this on TV!
I relly enjoyed it at The Party, allthough more people might have seen it had it been shown at another time.

Though most of the demos in this show aren't in my favourites list (and won't be either :), it's very nice to see them properly recorded on a system that's much faster than mine, and the overall presentation was quite wellmade, so wtf... it rules.

why add a prod without any link to download?

hey everybody...

well, sorry for not posting the full link to download...hadn't had
it handy when I posted the prod...

thanks for the nice words about our heavy work... ;-)

Well, codeduck, be sure that there will be something like that
'not too far away' soon...so cross your fingers for us! ;-)
We're working heavily at the moment on that project...

Bye,
Juergen

...hope to see ya' all soon at this year's scene-parties then!

hm, if they had shown better demos, this would've actually been quite cool :) i only liked about 30 to 40% of the stuff they had in the video. besides, the voice of max sucks.

Hello...

aeh..just some hints:

Payda: You can't download from scene.org if you use the upload:upload login...! ;-D
(Why do you think it's called 'upload' as login!? ;-)))
Simply use any of the mirror-sites (although it's still not available on the se-mirror yet!) and the download should work fine!

robotriot: Well, it's like the same with 'music' and personal favourites...
It's a matter of taste...and of course everyone has a slightly different point of view on demos (as like on music! ;-) )
But with maybe more releases of that kind I'm sure that there will be also enough 'highlights' in it you'll enjoy then as well...(but maybe others won't then...so they will post the same...! ;-)) )
About Max's voice..well, there wasn't enough time to do a perfect speech and sounding...remember that it was done in just 6 days before TP...that was hard enough anyways...
But next time it might be hopefully fixed as well... ;-)

Bye,
Weasel

...at least I will try to upload a screenshot for the release right now...to complete it a bit more..! ;-)

weasel: because on anonymous i've got this stupid MAX USERS 275 msg, and someone on csipd mentioned that this way it can be avoided, and i was on ftp.se.scene.org and there were empty dirs, ok i will wait 2 days more, then maybe it will appear on my local divx-drop-zone :)))

Payda: the 275 user limit is very annoying, true!
Also as it seems that the amount of users isn't set to 275 anyways...I guess in reality it's set probably much lower!
Also I'm wondering that the se-mirror isn't updated regularly... But as already posted: get it from the no-mirror instead! ;-)

giZMo: thanks! ;-) This year will be THE year! ;-)))

Nice, but why for god's sake in german?

Also it could do without the fr-worshipping ;)

anybody could package it up as one single avi or mpeg, please?
added on the 2002-01-21 18:13:28 by shiva shiva
Marlowe: Thanks! ;-)

ile: well, the original idea was planned to be only a video for 'The Bus'-trip (www.thebus.de) to TP...as there are only germans onboard..I thought I'd do it in german then. When I saw how much work it was at the end I decided to sub-title it afterwards as for the possibility to show it at TP as well, as one organizer asked me if that might be possible! ;-)

shiva: What's the problem with the multi-rar files!? I thought about uploading it as one-filer but then I decided to split it as many people might have download-breaks and maybe no chance to resume as well...
(if you've got any CRC in the rar's then simply get most/all of the .par files and the 'smart-par' tool as well! This will fix/recover any missing rar-archives and/or CRC errors! (if it's not too many errors or missing files of course! ;-) )

Hope I could help out...

these two were really cool c64 groups but i have seen this Max before
added on the 2002-01-22 12:08:30 by raver raver
really cool. i remember seeing some of it during the party, but because of the demodeadline i was unable to watch the whole thing. funny fact; when it was running on the bigscreen, a lot of "non-sceners" were asking "what those animations were and where to download them". :) this ofcourse resulted in heavy link-posting by the sceners on irc. not bad.
rulez added on the 2002-01-22 17:14:09 by gloom gloom
Raver: Well, you've got 1000 points for THAT _correct_ answer! ;-D Guess what!? I've been also original member of these two really old c-64 groups in those days... ;-)))
That's why I wanted to keep those names alive for the current days and the future of course! ;-D

...nice that you still remember those good old days that well! :-)

That 'Max' you probably already saw at last year's Mekka-Symposium at the big screen!

Gloom: Heard about that as well, that the irc was pretty 'crowded' by people asking what they are watching at the moment... ;-) Funny though...

Beyond: ;-D Thanks for the 'non-asked lending' of the bogart-slogan again, guys! I simply HAD to use it! ;-D

Hope, they release something similar to oldskool scene ... like just C64 & Amiga.

Thanks to everyone here for the very nice and positive words so far!

Well, as some of you already mentioned it...I can only say that we're already working at such a tv-project..and are positive to launch it soon finally!

If anyone thinks he might be able to help out in one or the other way (e.g. web-design, fast servers etc.etc..) ...PLEASE don't hesitate to contact us now!

Just be prepared and stay tuned for a really nice project...done especially for the scene to provide a new platform for all cool scenes/sceners and their hard work! (done from sceners for sceners!)

More info will follow pretty soon (hopefully)...

could you list the productions shown on this thing? gives people some reasons to download a large file
added on the 2002-05-14 17:23:29 by piriste piriste
Sure thing...

Here we go in correct order:

Featuring *17* mindblasting and great scene-productions out of various
categories like 4k, 64k, demos and WiLD!-animations...
With realtime-animated moderation and funny comments inbetween...

Feature-List:

  • ABCDemo by The Prophets (Demo)
  • Legorsika by TAAT (WiLD-Video)
  • Glon 243 by Cocoon (Demo)
  • Colouir 14 by X, RR, F (Demo)
  • The First Day by Superstition (WiLD!)
  • The Alien Menace by Clan Rota (WiLD!)
  • ETTV by Fairlight (Demo)
  • Shrooms by Bypass (64k)
  • Varus by Kolor (4k)
  • Juggler 2001 by The Coexistence (4k)
  • Propaganda by Inf (Demo)
  • Virtual Vodka by Fairlight (Demo)
  • MASS-Triple-Feature:
  • -Leonardo's Briefcase (WiLD!)
  • -Ken Sent Me (WiLD!)
  • -Show Our Power (WiLD!)
  • Flyby by Farbrausch (64k)
  • Bonus-Suprise-Flash by ... (??) ;-)

Well, that's it so far. I can just tell you that it's surely _worth_ the
downloading. At least most sceners seem to thought that when browsing here
through all those comments already left... ;-)

And please feel free to leave additional feedback as well also in future...
This helps really a lot...
Thanks.

Bye,

...and fact is of course:
C.A.P. TV will be back in near future again for sure... ;-)
added on the 2002-05-31 20:33:58 by Weasel Weasel
You're a great advertiser, Weasel. Are we supposed to buy something from you? :)

Very good effort, some neat transitions.. though the character and dialog weren't very interesting (I already saw "BetaMax" in action at MS01).

btw, it's "The Project", not "The Prophets".
added on the 2002-05-31 21:56:04 by phoenix phoenix
Yo Phoenix...

damn...you're right! was a typo I haven't seen..it's of course 'The Project'... ;-)) Oh well...but in the show it's correct anyways... ;-)

About the dialog etc...well, all this was done pretty very short before TP'01 and basically was supposed to be just a 'short' fun video for the bustrip I was organizing to TP... Just to make the long drive more fun for the people...when the video was finished in about 6 days of _very_ hard work...someone said I should show it at TP as well...and so I did...and was amazed about the positive feedback I got there...as many people asked where they could download that 'entry'... ;-)
And so it all started... ;-)

Buy something? No way!! All those (future) projects are supposed to HELP the scene growing and not to 'sell' it or rip it off!

But as alll this needs some time and of course man-power..I of course wouldn't have anything against any help and support from people having the time and chance to do so! :-) My company is still starting up and there is surely lots possibilties to still participate in a great future (scene) project... ;-)

hmm, I wondering how to get a Demo into such a high quality avi file. Did you capture the screen with 25 frames, or did you use an extern digital recorder, or what?
rulez added on the 2002-06-01 12:29:41 by diver diver
Hi Diver...

Well, I've a company whose aim it is to produce computer-multimedia-content for 'ordinary' TV etc...
(as the group name here should intend by the way already: C.A.P. TV which means Crazy Avantgarde Productions ! ;-) )
"Crazy" and "Avantgarde" used to be two groups I used to be in when I did lots on the good old C-64 ! So I needed to honor this area somehow and so I named my company after that then...

I'm dealing with converting computer stuff into 'normal' TV-signal since quite a while and so I had the chance to get out best quality of such conversions. And also with (divX) encoding matters of course. I've got professional digital cutting equipment here of course which enables me to capture all material in best (broadcast) quality...
Of course I want to support best quality as the scene really deserves it if shown in public somewhere...

As you might already have read above... a first pretty big project is hopefully starting very soon... and then the scene will hopefully show its support as well to lead this 'project' to a real success...

More details will follow probably soon... :-)

Stay tuned and spread the word if you know anyone who'd like to help in the preparation time now already... :-)

Well, at the moment I've got a little problem to update the C.A.P. TV web-page on a regualr basis... :-(
Hope this will change pretty soon..and then there will be much more 'multimedia-content' and clips on it to watch and see what C.A.P. TV wanna reach for the future...

Simply stay tuned...
Great things are coming.... ;-)

this is one is actually a very nice demoshow. the comments however are a bit annoying after a while. good thing for me it was: hadn't got a too fast pc and was able to watch the stuff the first time, since you don't need a lot of calculating power to watch the video. the demoselection is maybe a bit too 'onesided', i've expected a larger variousity (if that words exists hehe).. read the next issue of PAiN for a real review.

Sesse / All: Thanks for your comment...
Well, the only thing I wonder is why there's the 'rumour' or 'image' that the prod is either featuring fR in a way or why everyone thinks that it has soooo many fR prods inside...!? ;-)
Pretty weird if you ask me... Isn't it just like one single 64k intro at the very end ? (and this was the TP invitation...one of the reasons the whole prod was done for anyways..or better...it was done for the loooong bustrip in the first place...)

Well, of course 'BetaMax' was/is a fR prod as well..but I needed some-'thing' to moderate the whole prod...and that was what was laying around here to grab the fastest! ;-)

But does this make the whole prod a fR prod then? Hmm.... ;-) Anyways...it's really funny that so many people here are thinking/worried about the fR-featuring throughout the whole show... ;-) At least it shouldn't lead to that impression...hahaha!
Well, let's see what will bring in the next time/prod then... ;-)))

Well, I just saw that this prod still doesn't have a useful download link. And as it's still *not* possible to re-edit a prod-entry here at pouet I'll post the official and *working* download links here in this message for your pleasure... (or those who still couldn't get ahold of any download-source by now! ;-) Who knows...

Simply check the following links:

Grab the Demos Of A New Decade -2001 HiQ-divX version here...
Grab the Demos Of A New Decade -2001 LowQ-divX version here...
or
if you are yet unsure if it's worth any downloading anyways, simply
Grab the

here...

That's it for now...
Hope everybody will now be able to enjoy the prod whenever someone likes to! ;-)

rulez for scene, of course... i was pretty curious about mix of demos and had to get it from weasel by mail, realised... that i am already dreaming quite a lot in kind of different places, demos there are brilliant bunch of work, the whole mix is lotsa work you have to appreciate, but at the first sight i felt there won't be much 'cult' going on in my case... it's cool to see (as my notebook got no 3daccel card and suckone on my desktop) where the sce3dne is nowadays, but i can't enjoy them that much (i am quite bothered by story demos and fairytale style), maybe one day i will get down to make mix of old-skool classix...

Thanks for those words and the 'requests' for a 2002 version! ;-)
Well, as there won't be any THE BUS this year to release such a thing for I'll see what reason to find to produce a sequal for it anyways... ;-D
Cross your fingers and let's see what C.A.P. TV will be able to work out for the scene again! ;-)

Thanks for all your positive words and trust so far...
This is really motivating for the future...

Just look up here for like 9 posts and you'll find another post from me with updated and 100% working links for a quick download! ;-)
(Just one little typo in the link for the 'trailer'...but if you gonna download the whole thing anyways you won't need the trailer of course! ;-) )

Hope this helps...and looking forward to a final rating-comment from you after you watched it then! ;-)) Thanks in advance...

Good wild, especially for those that want to see some demos without having state-of-the-art hardware.

When I first saw this, I was floored. Everything in this video seems so "cool" and "professional", you'd hardly think it was done in a hurry or without the help of a team. :) Well done Weasel!

The mix of wild and PC platform demos was maybe done naturally to entertain the people on The Bus, but it does represent the wealth of creativity within the demo scene (whatever the platform is). After viewing this video many times over, I can only say it's probably the best documentary yet to introduce new people to the world of demos!

Even without knowledge of all of the demo scenes fine grained differentiations, non-scene people I gave this 'demo' to were instantly amazed by the creativity of its contents. The whole concept of a demo was much easier to grasp for the uninformed by simply watching examples produced by household names in the scene.

The apparent lack of tech speak in the hosting (using the wonderful head by Farbrausch) serves to make the general idea of demo productions known - to create. This illustrates the need for somebody to be able to translate the code-like language of some aspects of the scene into a less technology based lingo, especially for the rest of the existing demos. There are new people out there just wanting to create something (digitally), but they don't know how for lack of demo scene promotion. I think that's what compilations like this can (and in this case almost effortlessly do) achieve; which is a good thing, demo creation should receive the public awareness it deserves.

I find myself going back to this production just to see a couple of parts here and there, which speaks for the choice of the demos and how masterly they've been compiled. Also, it's very forward looking and futuristic, since the "Demos of a new Decade" only serve to ring the opening bell for more things to come and enjoy.

Now, if only there was another part to it! 75 minutes of it were simply too short. I'd really like to see more!

The only two things that I did not like were the voice of the speaker (weasel, better let someone else speak 8-DD ) and that it was very long (I had to stop it, because i needed to go to the toilet ;-) ). But it was a very great collection, and as I am using a Mac, I am very happy to be able to watch all those demos. "Demos of a new Decade" is a very great production, and even if it is very long, it doesn't get boring. Great Work! 8-)

Hahahaha!! ;-) Thanks, Botox...
Well, I admit that the 'voicing' was really just a _very_ fast trial...and surely didn't satisfy myself at all. But as of _heavy_ time pressure I hadn't had any chance to work on this more intensive...
So I'm sorry for that... :-)

Guess i really ought to comment on it then ;)

Overall: Really good production - nicely laid out, well put together. Some stuff could perhaps be improved, but nothing actually stands out as needing it (a rare thing indeed in a scene product :)

The choice of demos wasn't bad I thought - sure, it wouldn't be my choice, but i think no 2 sceners would choose the same list :) Also, if it was exactly the same as my choice, it would be pretty shit, as i would have seen them all before.

Another problem is it's too long :) Probably a good thing for most people, but i'm trying to watch it at work, and getting 75 minutes uninterupted is pretty hard ;)

And Weasel: look at your first comments, look at the date on them. You WILL find time to finish the project ;)

why oh why do I have to download 23 individual rar files? geeh.

...and all your prayers have been heard (finally!) ;-)

termos:
If everthing goes right and scene.org staff might be friendly with me then....
There should be an additional NEW upload of the hiQ version - as requested - in a ONEFILE rar-pack during the next few hours then (till it got moved to the correct dir then!)

It also includes an updated .nfo file now with a complete list of all demos, intros and wilds shown!

So if you still like you will be able to get it here from this direct link:
C.A.P. TV - Demos Of A New Decade -2001 hiQ ONEFILE download!

Hope this will 'fix' the problem of the multi-rar file download from the past days then! ;-)

Silly me !!! *slap* *slap*... ;-)

Of course there's an error in the 'direct download' link above...

So here's the _correct_ one now:
C.A.P. TV - Demos Of A New Decade -2001 hiQ ONEFILED zip-file !! (~730MB !)

Sorry for the inconveniance, guys...

Very well carried out with a quite professional look. Also I don't have much access to Windows (as Sesse pointed out above), so I'm watching almost all of these demos for the first time because of this these wild demos could be dropped as far as i care ;-)

The resolution was good, as for the sound I can't say much, but it was far better than that recording of Aura for Laura someone did :-)
The finnish with the nice stick-fight was great, despite the sometimes scary grin on that "reporter" person, oh well. Now you've got me waiting for the 2002 and/or 2003 release ;-)

This is an incredibly wonderful production to watch and I wish there was more content like it. Can I buy a hi quality dvd somewhere?

great compilation but the Max Headroom parts sort-of let me down, i miss the trademark stu(-tu-tu-tu-tu)tters and the "flat" look :)
rulez added on the 2004-01-11 20:41:34 by Gargaj Gargaj
hey gargaj, nothing against that max !;)

the main trick about this nice little app is, that it is performing in realtime..you talk into the microphone and max automatically moves his lips. ryg, kb and i build him as a co-host for mekka symposium (2001 if i remember correctl).
i guess that explaines why he is not able to stutter..it would be too complicated to operate such a function while talking to a thounsand people..it´s hard enough to control his movement then, believe me..

and about that look, well yes it could have been better, but back then i had a hard time learning softimage|xsi and was quite happy with my very first 3d character (and it´s animations:)

btw. this demoshow rulez!

Gargaj:
Oehm..the 'BetaMAX' isn't supposed to be 'max headroom rip-off' in any way! ;-) It just might look like it a bit. But that you need to tell fR !! ;-)) They did the gfx of it.
giZMo already said it already: It isn't even any official program or anything. They just had been really friendly and 'lent' it to me for making this video! ;-)

Reminds me I still haven't watched it to the end... But >1hrs of (seen) demos isn't that easy to watch, if you have the avg attention-time of the mtv-generation. ;)
