quite nice.. not the usual traction style but still the usual style somehow.. i must agree with the comment in the infofile that it feels somewhat mfx'ish without the attitude.. may be because the lack of textures.. i donno really. anyway, keep it up. GOOD work!

some of the backgrounds felt a bit static in the first part, but other than that this is pretty decent in every respect

Shader works by Preacher.
Some direction is very cool.
And great tune.
The effect of glow is seen to be the best in the work of current Traction.
keep up good work!!

top tips when doing a glow effect:
- try and CLAMP the image, dont WRAP, then you dont get crap at the top/bottom of the screen for example
- try not to make the rendertarget so low res that it looks nasty. (and that goes double for the original input image, try copying it off the backbuffer rather than a low res rendertarget)
- try to avoid making the jitter steps so huge that you can see lines in the result
- try and preserve colour bit res where ever possible so you dont get something that looks like a 3 bit image out of it.

hope that helps.

otherwise, if this was 4 years ago, had good music, had attitude, pace, sync and was called variform by kewlers, it would have been a good demo. :) as it is, it's a traction demo with ancient fx and glow on top. sorry.

some nice effects, but all in all too simple content (first of all geometry). could have been much better.

outrackish overbrightened highlights, mfxish sky textures.
some brilliant ( or should i say jewelish ) color combinations here and there, but still left me indifferent.

I thot someone said 'some brilliant (or should I say JEWISH)' are there any more questions about why antialias blurring is bad?

Anyway. Liked.
There's an old saying that wearing an Amethyst prevents you from getting a hangover ;)

what I remember from the screen was nothing special. this kind of stuff has been seen 2098230982140987508823 before this. was still the best demo from the compo tho.

why everyone is referring to mfx while there's nothing like mfx in this demo is beyond my comprehension... a bit like "typical haujobb" demo comments few years back in the road.

it may look tad old and blurry, but nevertheless a neat show and it's nice to see something different from the normal line vector galore from traction. :) that said, enjoyable to watch - all i need from a demo.

nice effects and composing..

nice crystals. exchange them with cubes and you have the average haujobb demo - clear but beautiful design combined with a well fitting soundtrack.

Not bad, but I'm fed up by demos that try to impose non native 4:3 resolutions on my 16:10 lcd.

Weak thumb up because of the ugly post-processing passes. You should definitely revisit the way you do your glow, it has many ugly visual artifacts due to wrapping, huge texture fetch steps and it almost looks like it doesn't have a proper 2d gaussian filter either.
Besides that, it was nice :)

The last tunnel sure needs sunglasses to be at disposal, though it's neat to see you moved ito new realms - the lines are sparingly used, and instead 3D objects take their place.
It's quite beautiful to look at, and the tune makes the journey a nice trip <3

This was my first feeble try with shaders and I haven't really progressed much since :) The colors are awful with a modern TFT screen: I wrote this on a CRT that had much darker tones and it looked much better there. Some of the effects were left a bit substandard, unfortunately, as the party approached and I had very little time to tweak them. As it stands, I still kind of like the cheesiness here...
added on the 2013-05-28 09:18:17 by Preacher Preacher
Well that's what I call a proper piriblur! A bit rough around the edges but still fun, especially the motive of constructing objects from thin air. The flat shaded look combined with glowing wireframe edges worked well.
rulez added on the 2015-11-21 00:32:20 by cce cce
Doesn't look that bad to me actually, except for the constantly clipping blacks and especially whites (piriblur indeed :)), ouch! Way too cheesy for me overall, the music is just... blaaahhh...
