This is a very cool production I think.
It should have won because its technically very good.
Nice metaballs with lights comming out of them. Don't think I've seen that before.
very nice music by andromeda and some cool vocals in there too.
It's a worth watching this demo!

fairlight storms into j-design territory, traditionally controlled by inf and does so quite well I'd say. lots of pretty cool somewhat 'akira'-inspired 3d, nice fx all over (those metaballs, yes), only some gfx and textures look fast-made and a lil' unpolished. the tune is pretty, but, sadly, goes nowhere..
much more a feast for the eyes than all the prevoius recent flt releases, it only needs some more life breathed into it..

Goodlooking effects, nice music, nice atmosphere. I loved the font :)

totally awesome! the metaball-light-effect in the screenshot made my pants go wet during the compo. great music, design, flow, graphics and code. wikkid!

Great work, but I still think Virtual Vodka was a bit better on the design part... There is a certain `eyecandy' aspect that's missing in this one.

Nice 3D scenes, and nice 3D effects. Quite well done and definitely worth the download. However, I didnt' feel the vocals in the beginning, and again at the end, fit in too well. They seemed to be musically off in parts. Oh well...

The visuals were nice..

I liked the soundtrack. visuals were ok too
(what would a mega-tokyoish scene be without bikers on quasifuturistic bikes ;))

The first time i saw this, I was impressed, but the second run really disappointed me. the metaball effects are very nice, but the rest of the demo has a very slow progression, and becomes lengthy at best. (anyone else notice that the speed of the bikes hardly reaches 30 kmph? :). A bit more thougt put into the flow of the demo, and you would have a killer.

I don't particularly like the theme and the melancholic atmosphere of this demo. But it's just a matter of taste.

The demo itself is well presented with some interesting visual effects, music and design. Not Flt's best demo to date, but still worth a thumbs up.

i personally think the metaballs look a bit sucky :)

nice demo overall

Great prod! pantaloon shows his skills, and andromeda has done a top notch job with the soundtrack. good work FLT

A bit on the long side and I hated the font. Rules nevertheless, the music is very good, nice design, fast and clean code and it didn't need a bitchload of memory to run.

This is amazing, amazing code, great visuals :)

somehow this didn't excite me at all... just too much of that standard 3d-accel look. but still, very nice work technically.

good music japanese inspirated
mix of traditional blurred objects and akira inspirated scenes
without story. please stop the use of this old logo.
not bad but it miss something to make it memorable
House rocker. Best FLT demo on pc so far.

Really sweet demo, imho better than the demo who won.

impressive amount of d3d error messages during the debug session...
Direct3D8: (ERROR) :BeginScene, already in scene. BeginScene failed.
Direct3D8: (ERROR) :EndScene, not in scene. EndScene failed.
Direct3D8: (ERROR) :All attenuation factors are 0 for non-directional light
Direct3D8: (ERROR) :SetLight failed.
Direct3D8: (ERROR) :Vertex buffer must be unlocked during DrawPrimitive call
Direct3D8: (ERROR) :DrawIndexedPrimitive failed.

but i guess pantaloon got this all fixed since then.
sweet music, admireable amount of graphics, some nice code but too much ugly lowrez render to texture stuff. oh and the greetz part with the music-remix was excellent :)

i wish you had a decent d3d debugger with dx8 =)
added on the 2004-01-11 16:51:26 by pantaloon pantaloon
like what? what else do you want apart from debug runtime? :)
added on the 2004-01-11 16:54:51 by Gargaj Gargaj
what i ment i wish there existed a decent debugger when the dx8 came out. the dx8 runtime didnt report any sane debug info. however dx9 does =)
added on the 2004-01-11 16:56:27 by pantaloon pantaloon
Um, dx8 did too.
added on the 2004-01-11 17:25:08 by sagacity sagacity
yeah, but didnt provide all the debug info as dx9 does. and shader debugging didnt work with dx8 if i recall right.

This stupid ultrageeky mange style sucks big time!! Please grow up and stop worshipping gay japanese "culture", otherwhise you will end up watching japscat and enjoying it.

Technically that demo is ok, but thats no excuse.

I like this demo for some strange reason. There is nothing particularily great about it; everything seems really mediocre. Nevertheless, I've watched it about 5 times now. I think it's the way the music fits in so perfectly with the scenes that brings this demo to life for me.

Classic oldschool-megademo mixed with todays 3D-accelerated demostyle and not exactly j-pop. Very interesting. :)
rulez added on the 2004-03-04 21:13:53 by René Madenmann René Madenmann
Very interesting what I wrote, because it couldn't really kick me now. At the moment it would be more like "interesting but not a thumb".
It keeps you interested. Freaky music was a turnoff at first but it's synced up to the action and adds to the feel of the entire piece. It's different, but like most Anime Flicks, which are different, it still captures an audience. Wouldn't mind more J-Pop influence, as in visualls and overall cool feel created in those movies

Still cool, although I'm very late with this comment. Love the music, some parts could be better, but all in all very cool. A little bit oldskool in 2006 :p
