good pack guys
This is pure love. The fact that instead of just porting the demos, they remade them, lifts this from a being a standard port and instead being something unique. Love love love love <3
Also, note to current demomakers: Why in the world I still find DX Project, with only its rotating objects, hell a lot more interesting and beautiful than the vast majority of today's demos?

What a great idea! Other demogroups should make such modified compilations, too!
didn't seem to work on an 800MHz G4 iBook.
YESH \o/
I bow down to thee!
Altho I did miss the envmap from the virus object :)

in my honest opinion it is still boring objectshow like all realtech demos. i really really thinking thumbing this down. Also, note to current demomakers: Why in the world I still find DX Project, with only its rotating objects, hell a lot more interesting and beautiful than the vast majority of today's demos?
Personally back then I wasn't all that interested by those demos, the only attraction appeared to be the high-resolution. But they were pleasant for a viewing or two.
Best "demopack" ever ;)
OSX version has bad permissions. To get it to run I had to set the executable to execute.
After that, it ran after clicking the .app, but crashed at the wasp part.
If anyone else wants to try fixing it, open the terminal, change directory to the MacOS folder within the bundle (assuming its on your desktop, type "cd ~/Desktop/realoaded_by_realtech_1/Realoaded.app/Contents/MacOS"), then type "chmod 755 Realoaded"

Ahhh... that last comment wasn't 100% right. Problem was this:
1. It wouldn't unzip by double clicking the desktop icon on osx (saying file not found or something).
2. Unzipping on a PC doesn't keep the file permissions (see above for a fix..)
3. Unzipping from the terminal in OSX works.
But anyway, it still crashes. At the fish just after the wasp though, not at the wasp as i previously said.

and i really should have mentioned: powerbook g4 1.5, 1gb ram, 128mb radeon 9700, osx 10.4.2.
It rulz! However on my machine i can only use fixed pipeline opengl, and some parts are a blank screen, some materials are missing...
I said WOW when I'd seen this in the "latest released". Perhaps I'd prefer the software port for Windows, cause the accelerated looks ugly at times with those old textures and models (but it's better with them, cause they preserve the old feelings),. also for some reasons the engine and programm were buggy (sound or visual clattered at times, and after one run and quit, at the rerun the programm crashed and I had to reboot and reunzip the pack from the beginning. Also on the benchmark screen I couldn't find a key to make me go back so I closed the programm ;PPP). It's great for the nostalgia and history, only if there weren't these annoying bugs and engine slow at times..
You need a decent machine in order to run it. Of course on 'cheap' graphics cards, you might miss a lot of effects.
There is an update 1.02, btw, fixed the couple of issues (zip archive, problems in the benchmark menus) etc..
Also there is some couple of 'options' in order to make it run. There will be always one configuration that will works : remember it's DirectX8, DirectX9, OpenGL, Win32, Win64, MacOS X !

GRÄJT
yay
übersweet! even for a premiere :)
luv
nice!
Great work! Real demo with real demomusic!
damn! what an effort!
what a nice revival of packdisks! more of that!
I never went bananas over the realtech demos back in those innocent days, and I loathe the fact that I cannot properly skip to the desired demo in the pack. Nice and admirable effort to release this pack anyway.
If it weren't for some of the ratings you did, I might want to hazard that you have no taste ;)

Wow, I can't say anymore.
great music and i dont mind watching spinning objects once in a while
Lovely idea, thank you for this long lasting show.
great presentation of bad material.
too bad they didn't preserve the demos in their original form.

That's exactly why I find this to be a terrible and pointless exercise. The historical context of those old object shows ("look ma, I can do 3d on my 386!!") is lost. And frankly, that's the only saving grace of this kind of mid 1990s demos. Remaking it in D3D takes away the charm and all that's left is an even more boring 3d object show in a world where 3d is ubiquitous and mundane.
Having rewatched this since, I can kind of agree with you now. Though, I guess these demos will be special to me until the end of time because their impact on me back then was just so huge.

..for people with no relation to the original works, sure, but for others (like Preacher) the feeling they get from watching them again is a good one, which IMHO is reason good enough to remake them. :)
this thumb is not really for the demos , but for the effort they made remaking them and presenting them in such a nice manner.
For the effort

do not post about it in the comments, it will get lost.

Great to see these old demos again!
