Holy shit!! One of the best 68k demos I've seen for years! Excellent code, graphics and music and they complement each other perfectly! Only complaint is that it needed more transitions, but otherwise fantastic work! Guys, you are a credit to the Amiga!

This demo simply rules! And runs on my Pegasos 2! Yes, a nice cgx+ahi executable is included in the lha archive!
I like the robots, war scene and the zoom effect.

After watching this demo several times now, it bores me more and more. It has ugly visuals and mediocre music. The code is great, but it doesn't really make up for the design part. I think the whole thing is quite ridiculous really.

I don't remeber all the details of when I saw it @ BP, but I recall thinking it was great (but TBL one was greater :P)

i think it rulez, fast engine and nice atmosphere. it would be greater:
if you would fit the soundtrack f.e. to the underwaterscene
if you would add some sounds to the walking robots, the flying spacecrafts and the cannon

sorry, i don't understand why do people think that this prod is better than OM/TBL.. i'm expected quite cool technical level after reading that *rulez*cool*great* opinions, but i was totally disappointed watching multiverse...

may be that was my fault to read the opinions first, but anyway, thumb down

There is now a HQ AVI version (framerendered+mp3) available here: http://loonies.dk/demos/demos.asp?id=multiverse

A final version willl be released soon. So far the work has been focused on technical issues for the high end machines (OS4/P96 compatibility, mp3 playback...), but we also have some content improvements on the list.

Rats, I uploaded a video to scene.org just yesterday which was grabbed from a real amiga (060/50). It seems this AVI offered above simulates a faster amiga than the standard 060/50 one?

Anyway it's a kick-ass demo, my favourite part is the greetings screen with the logos becoming unfocused.

In comparison with Ocean Machine it does show that superb coding isn't everything. TBL have incredibly good artists, and that's why they manage to charm the audience every year..
rulez added on the 2005-04-10 22:14:21 by evil evil
nice piece of code. crappy textures
rulez added on the 2005-04-10 22:23:54 by xeNusion xeNusion
nice one! de de-focus greets and 3d worlds (also that fake one with the camera in the middle) are very well coded it seems! cool shit! :)

the music is good, too bad the 3d design (and general concept) is a little on the amateur side..
rulez added on the 2005-04-10 22:40:17 by earx earx
the opening scene after the zoom is completely burner!!!
Boosters tune is da bomb even though I'm not with 4 by 4 beats...it fits.
tbl may be winner of the compo but you'll the champion of the hearts!

Very good 3D. Scene with planes designed well.
rulez added on the 2005-05-01 19:19:33 by Manwe Manwe
Wellwell, the demo has some great parts, but also some really bad ones (like the robot walking, which looks just horrible). If you're not able to animate things properly, then please stick to static scenes! The few bad parts really ruined the demo for me, sorry...

Final version is now available at loonies.dk. It features a highend version with the original mp3 music for faster-than-real Amigas, improved compatibility (haven't got it working on AmigaOne though) and lots of small tweaks to the effects.

The linked video version is frame rendered with 16x FSAA and using the mp3 soundtrack making it quite a bit better than the real thing ;)

This was my personal favourite when it comes to the Amiga demo compo. A typical Loonies production, Psycho at his best. On the one side we have Loonies demos that constantly become better and better and at the other side TBL with their stagnation. At least nearly as their demos all look very much the same...

So it`s in my humble opinion only a question of time until those two lines will cross and finally someone else than The Black Lotus may go on stage in order to receive the first price! But only time will and can tell!

Thumb for code and effort. Some novel ideas too, but it could have looked a bit better. The antenna scene reminds me of the DVD intro on Sky Captain And The World of Tomorrow. Is the idea taken from that film or the other way around?
rulez added on the 2006-12-13 17:38:11 by loaderror loaderror
Yes, skycaptain is the main inspiration source for this one, including color scheme etc. And the antenna scene is directly from the movie :)
