Definitelly rules, not just for coderpr0n but even for the fact that made me laugh. Leonard was crazy with that contest, it's also that rare feeling of competition, finally someone broke the previous record for just 1, to enjoy much more of them in this! Hahaha, funny!!! And the beginning of the scrolltext too. Those crazy 0ldsch00l coderz, nice scene times! ;)

p.s. Someone had started once ago a similar contest on the CPC http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=13538, mmm... this means I should definitelly try something (I am wondering how why can it go on the little CPC), hope to find mood for CPC coding soon.. ;P

I was just wondering how can someone easilly count the balls and be sure they are really 268 as the coder claims? :) Did anyone tried to count them? (I always took those for granted and said wow so many sprites, kinda reminds me of Dope polycount ;)
Funny that counting is easy on the CPC version with so few ;)

keops: the amount of clock cycles per VBL is fixed so there should be a limit ... I mean, there IS a limit ... no ?

p01: indeed. but as long as people find new tricks and cheats... ;)

Not much of a demo to watch, but always interesting with a new demoscreen. If someone thought of it; this is exactly twice the amount of sprites that TCB did way back which started this 16x16 competition mania. That makes me wonder; did Leo hold it back just for the 2X number?

Someone should tell to Leonard, that there is a limit, because he doesn't seem aware. Anyway I wouldn't be surprised if he had few more sprites waiting to be released. Actually his previous record was 220 on a 520 STf, and 271 on a 1040 STf.

I've hesitated on the category field, but finally picked DEMO, in the sense of demonstration.

Hey p01 don't afraid I have some physic notion :-) In a way, there is no limit ! I explain: On 520 you have 2^4194304 different memory state ( without counting CPU states) so you can think there is a limit. But, a human can never see all these states (larger than number of atoms in universe). So to you, p01, human, you probably never see someone reach the theorical limit ! LOL

leonard, you can give much tighter lower bounds than that. :) take the minimum number of words you have to change in memory from one frame to the next. then take the maximum of that over all frames till the animation loops (depending on the formula, this may take a while :), but as there's only a finite number of memory states as you mentioned, it's bound to happen). with that minimum "words changed" count, figuring out a minimum bound for the number of cycles spent that's not too far off should be possible ;)
